Their golf cart rental business is a fraud. Rented a cart for a week on Fripp Island, paid for it, and the cart wasn't delivered. When they learned that I was calling about the golf cart that was never delivered, they refused to answer a dozen or more calls over multiple days. I called from another phone number pretending to call about a rental and they immediately answered and welcomed the rental. They're taking money from renters, not delivering, and then refusing to deal with customers. Listen to all the other complaints and don't ever rent from this company or use them for any services. They didn't deliver cart until 3 days late, it broke down and they promised to give us a refund which we still have not gotten after month even though we have constantly called them and harassed them. Please do run as fast as you can from this company. They were supposed to sell my deceased Aunts golf cart well over a year ago. They eventually stopped responding to my fathers inquires about the sale of the cart. When I contacted them Jeff told me he had been away for the last 9 months because of medical problems. I sympathized with him and gave him make and model of our cart. Over the next 3weeks he played games assuring us he would take care of the problem. Even asking for my Dads address to send the amount he said the cart was sold for. When 2 weeks went by and it never arrived, he assured us he sent it, he promised to send it through PayPal. Never happened. Now we are being forced to contact authorities and file a suit After posting review the issue was resolved. read more

Our cart was at the shop for service and while there removed and stolen from the previous thief that ran the business, Jeff Harris. The new owner will not take my calls on his mobile Phone or on the business phone. A great deal Of his inventory/assets were stolen Before the business transaction was complete. This company is the worst! You will deal with broken carts, non delivered carts, promises made but never delivered, and unanswered phone calls. They will make your vacation miserable dealing with slow broken down golf carts all week. They have no integrity! Terrible people to deal with when renting on Fripp Island. Reserved and paid in advance for a six seater and they delivered a four seater without a charger. Spent three days trying to reach someone to assist or answer questions or at least bring a charger to no avail. They ended up blocking my phone rather than addressing the issue! They have promised a full weekend but other feedback on line suggests that I not hold my breath. I have reached out to the Fripp Island Resort group and suggested that they prohibit this bunch from doing business on Fripp. Hopefully more that have experienced these problems will do the same. read more

I called these guys about a dead electric cart. They came out and hauled it back to their shop where they claimed to have replaced the controller with a remanufactured one. The cost to me was over $700. The cart was delivered back to me and did not run the next day. I looked at the electronics under the seat and there were spiderwebs on and around the controller cover. Clearly it was not replaced, and when I called CCC to check with them, and ask for even a partial refund I got nowhere. Had to have my credit card company refund the charge. Update: I spoke with Jeff (the owner) a day or two after leaving my initial review. He was concerned that a mistake had been made, and assured me that he and his company were taking steps to find out what went wrong and how this happened. It's my opinion that this establishment is poorly ran. They over promise and under delivery. They have a new owner who doesn't care. For weeks I've been working with the helpful folks at Club Car in Augusta who advised me that CCC had to order me a serial number decal. The new owner is holding my decal an will not give it to us. I'm still in the process of working with Club Car to either have CCC to release it or hopefully tell me the route I should talk. BUYERS BEWARE! read more

Jeff the owner is a liar! He gave me more the dog ate my homework excuses than I could count when I purchased a refurbished golf cart from him. He told me the batteries were brand new and come to find out they were a year and a half old, the charger he gave me did not work, the blinkers I had him install did not function either, in fact it was attached but the wiring was not even connected. He also lied about the speed, saying the cart would go between 18-20mph when in all actuality the top end speed is maybe 10-12mph. I only found out these issues after taking the cart to be serviced by a local golf cart shop. Don't get me started on the wheels that he charged me for that were never installed. Only after I threatened legal action did my refund finally get processed. Bottom Line Carolina Custom Carts is not a reputable business and it starts with their owner. read more

This business is now called Beaufort Carts. When you visit the old website you are redirected. We were staying in Port Royal and wanted to rent a cart for the week. I was hesitant to rent here because of the bad reviews but frankly everyone else was booked. We had a fantastic experience with Beaufort Carts. We rented right from the website. There wasn't a confirmation email so I called just to double check we were booked in. They had the best deal, our total was around $265 for the week, and showed up right on time for delivery and pick up. Our cart was great and easy to use and charge. Our trip would not have been the same without the golf cart! We will use them again for sure. I don't know what the place was like before the new ownership but it is great now! read more

I have never written a review but in fairness to those who are looking for a golf cart - I need to express the disappointment in this company and the owner. I will not bore you with the details but say that it was excuse after excuse and lie after lie. I am in dispute with the credit card company to have the charge reversed. I would NOT recommend this company - do not waste your time! I had a rental agreement with Carolina Custom Carts since December 2017 to rent 2 electric golf carts June 30, 2018 to July7, 2018 and to be delivered to our rental house on Fripp Island. I even called 6-27-18 and confirmed I was getting 2 electric carts. We had not yet arrived at the house when they delivered l electric & 1 gas cart which was less the 1/2 full of gas. When I questioned the issue, Jeff said they just deliver the closest carts they picked up from the previous week reguardless of what I ordered AND that he did not have any electric carts available to trade out. Apparently the rental agreement means nothing to them. Also that gas cart would not start on the 2nd day. I tried calling the phone # I was given for problems but could not get through for 1 1/2 days because the message box was full. Also tried a service # and sent an email with no response. The problem was a dead battery. Three times i have requested & was promised a credit for 1 days rental which I have not received as of 12 days later. Therefore, be aware of Poor Service and Total Disregard to fulfill the rental agreement. read more

I paid for a cart on 5/8/2019 to be delivered on 6/29/2019. We were late getting to the resort due to death in the family. Cart was not there..spent the whole first day trying to get in touch with them. I was told there was a computer glitch and they didn't have any carts. I was offered a refund but that wasn't a solution I wanted, because it was July 4th week and I wasn't sure I could find another cart. I was able to find a cart from another company, thankfully, but no thanks to Jeff!!! He should have found the cart for me and delivered as promised. I still do not have a refund. Please do not let his "fake" kindness fool you. This is not a trustworthy company. I told him we had 2 people in our group that could not walk, it didn't seem to matter. read more

Cart rentals are a fraud. They take your money and fail to deliver. Called them several times per day and they refuse to answer. FRAUD.

They did not deliver the cart as promised, even though I had contacted them one week prior and the day of my rental. They flat out lied and said they would have it there. They did not give refund when requested and Discover had to get my refund for me. This place is HORRIBLE. Do not trust your vacation to these clowns. read more

First of all I am giving this company a one star rating simply because Yelp will not let me give zero stars. We have used this company for four years straight and every year just gets worse. We have reached our limit with Carolina Carts. I am shocked this guy makes any money at all if this is how he treats all of his customers. Between the wrong cart delivered (4 passenger not 6), the slowest cart on the planet that other carts passed us, a cart that was not charged and the charger that was left didn't even work that golf cart, picking up the car a full day (early morning that day) too soon and then waiting until that evening to return it, or being on day 2 still waiting on your cart to be delivered. Horrible! Do not, and I repeat, do not use this company. Horrible service! And like the other reviewers have stated, don't let their kindness fool you... it is all FAKE!!! Avoid Carolina Carts at all costs. If that is your only option then save your money. Trust me it isn't worth your headache! read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CAROLINA CUSTOM CARTS!! We called Jeff in May 2019 about a new limited edition Club Car as a surprise for my husband's 70th birthday. He assured us he had the new limited edition in stock and gave us a quote. He charged our American Express card that day even though he wasn't going to deliver until 11 days later. He delivered a completely different cart, charged our AE approx. $2,000 more than the quote and charged our card again the day after he delivered. We have never received a bill of sale, as requested, so we can't even see what he is charging us for. The second charge has been credited now. Since he has told us so many untruths, we just want our money back. We don't want to do business with someone so untrustworthy. He begged us not to dispute the charge with AE and said he would send us a check, but that still has not happened. We have now disputed the charge with AE and have to wait 30 - 90 days for resolution. read more

I rented a 6-person electric cart for Fripp Island in July 2018. I had my request in plenty early, the previous December. When we arrived for our vacation, there was a 4-person electric cart, not the 6-person cart I had requested 6 months prior and was promised. I called and left a message for the owner Jeff on his cell phone and also emailed them about it on the day of our arrival, Sunday. As of Monday, I had no return calls so I called again. I was told that Mondays are their busiest day due to all of the deliveries over the weekend and it takes them a while to get back to people. I was also told that due to the recent heavy rains, they were out of 6-person carts because customers had driven them through the large standing water puddles. If this was the case, I should have been notified when they left a 4-person cart instead of what I had requested. I shouldn't have had to chase them down for this information. I was also told by Jeff that he would submit a credit to my credit card for the difference, which was $70.00. I told him that I understood his situation and thanked him. I waited for the credit and it never came. I called several times and sent an email and never received any return calls. I finally had to put through a dispute wtih my credit card company for the $70 credit which they had to open an investigation for. As far as I know, my credit card company has completed their investigation and credited me the $70. I should never have had to spend this much effort and trouble chasing down a credit that was promised to me. This company has a lot to learn with their customer service skills and I will never use them again. We visit Fripp Island every year and I will also warn people about their lack of customer focus. read more
