Driving on the back roads from Tampa to Mount Dora, we passed this place, and it looked so interesting we had to turn around to go in. I was hoping they had some cool bamboo knickknacks, but it was actually just a bamboo farm. First of all - who knew there were so many different kinds of bamboo? The great thing about this place is that they had all the different kinds already planted and growing and dated by when it was planted (in addition to selling them by the container), so you could see what each type of bamboo would like like when they got to full size. So cool! My yard is not really conducive to planting bamboo, but I still could not resist getting a container of dwarf buddha belly bamboo, just because the stalks looked like they would be so fun. I'll keep it in a container for now and then figure out what to do down the road when it gets to its full 12'. I didn't take many pictures because I was so busy walking around in awe at all the different varieties of bamboo: yellow with green stripes, black, bushy, tall, etc. The woman who assisted us was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. This is a great spot to see clustered bamboo options. The staff is very knowledgeable and honest about using bamboo as a landscape accent. We left empty handed because our spot was too close to our house and appreciate their advice. The plant display is very interesting but by no means a botanical garden. Beautiful Bamboo is located 35 minutes outside of the Orlando area, near the Junction of the Ronald Reagan Turnpike, 27 and SR19 in Groveland, FL. Beautiful Bamboo came recommended by 2 different friends over the last year, both who had purchased bamboo here. One planted their hedge about 2 years ago, the other planted their hard to find bamboo about 4 years ago. In both cases the bamboo plants are lovely, healthy and providing great (low maintenance) natural "walls" in their yards. So, after doing some research on what would be non invasive, work with our sun/shade and survive cold snaps, Hubby and I headed out to the country. The owner was very nice, we called early in the day (per their website) and asked if they would be around to check things out. They aren't a regular storefront, it's a large private property with planted fields, so call before you head out. The son has taken over the family business, so his land is closer to the Turnpike/27/19 junction than the parents location which was a few miles further down SR 19. The owner confirmed our researched bamboo selection would be best (clumping and cold hardy) for what we wanted. He gave us Bamboo 101 for care and how the clumping plants grow and can be maintained while he toured us through some other varieties. He showed us what 4 years worth of our hedge bamboo looked like, starting with our size plants. AWESOME! We made our selections and were on our way back home. Plants made it home happily and we planted them strategically to block out the neighbors 3 story (really), becoming dilapidated play structure. I'm sure we'll have some pretty green height in a year or so. I will post pictures and an update at some point. All major credit cards accepted. read more

Well worth the drive! They have at least 50 types of different kinds of bamboo! They are knowledgeable about what kind of bamboo are best for what you need it for. Not all bamboo is invasive!! Beautiful bamboo is a well maintained specialty bamboo nursery with supreme quality and cultivars. The site is organized well with a lakeside cultivar walking tour and pamphlets detailing each cultivar's size, cold hardiness, stem thickness, maximum height, etc. The owners were friendly and knowledgable. I was satisfied with my purchase of golden hedge for garden privacy. Despite being next to a busy state road the nursery is secluded and silent due to an oasis of bamboo. Would recommend this nursery to anyone looking for non-invasive varieties. read more

We went to Beautiful bamboo to anticipate planting after our fence has been put up. I don't remember her name but she was extremely helpful she went from bamboo to bamboo to explain what we saw on her property was years of pruning and how tall it will actually get. I drove out to Beautiful Bamboo in April, 2014 and met with Jennifer who was pleasant, peaceful and chock full of info regarding the growth patterns, cold hardiness and all things bamboo. I got the tour of the place walking through the different bamboos offered and picked out their seabreeze bamboo to be delivered and planted 6 weeks later. By the end of May, two courteous and efficient people had come out and installed 10 15 gallon pots with the irrigation to ensure them taking root in a hot FL summer. 5 weeks later, they are doing well and we already have 8 new culms and I am thinking in 2 years, the neighboring homes will be just a memory:) read more

I found it! After searched high and low for a knowledgeable and diverse bamboo nursery... I stumbled upon Beautiful Bamboo in Leesburg, Fl. Ready to take the 70 mile trek from Tampa I called Tim at Beautiful Bamboo and asked if he would be able to ship my order of (2) Emerald 1-3 gallon bamboo and he did for about $28.00. I am hooked! I have since ordered the Seabreeze bamboo and could not be happier with the tall forest emerging in my backyard. The knowledgable sincere customer service, advice on how to take care of these beautiful plants, and quick delivery have me salivating for my next bamboo project on the other side of my property. I purchased 11 large bamboo plants here in Austin and after planting them it was obvious they were not happy.
