When I moved to NNY, I visited this salon to see Paige for a wax and tint. She was so personable, SLAYED my wax, and tinted my brows to the perfect color. I fell in love with the decor and vibe through the salon! Fast forward a short time - I was subject to an unfortunate experience at another salon in the area, reached out for help from others, and was referred to Roxanne. I messaged her in dire need of a color correction as I am due with a baby anytime. Roxanne responded quickly and was able to get me in almost immediately. I arrived at the salon, greeted by Roxanne and Jessica, so nervous but hopeful for a transformation that left me feeling like myself rather than a calico cat. After less than an hour and a half in Roxanne's chair, I was brought to tears! Roxanne evened out the spots I had, toned my hair to a more desirable color, and made my roots as natural as possible. She cut off damaged ends, corrected broken layers, and straightened my hair where I could see the difference. In addition, she recommended products and told me how to use the products to protect the integrity of my hair. The biggest takeaway for me - Roxanne listened. She heard my concerns and put her best effort forward to make sure that I walked out feeling brand new. Throughout my time, Roxanne and Jessica engaged with me. They were kind, encouraging and uplifting to this expecting mamma who just wants to feel good going into a new chapter of life. It is hard to find someone you can trust to do your hair; even more so when you have curly hair, are out of state, and having to find a new stylist during a pandemic. I can say that Gabby exceeded my expectations! I brought my 16-year-old cousin in for a color correction/change for her 16th birthday gift, (She originally has dark brown natural curly hair which was dyed professionally to a platinum blonde. She also had about 4" of her darker roots growing out). Gabby was very friendly, patient and worked meticulously to get the results we wanted. She walked us through the process step by step. She explained everything to my cousin thoroughly for her to understand, including how it would be essential to reapply her color undertones first before applying the darker colors and why this was necessary. She also explained how to care for her hair after coloring as well as what her results would be once completed. Not only was Gabby super attentive and experienced, she was so sweet and made us feel extremely comfortable the whole time and took really good care of my cousin. We had a very friendly and enjoyable conversation with Gabby through the process. After 2 hours of treatment and coloring she still took her time to style her hair and we are very content with the results. Gabby was able to give us an amazing first-time experience. I would definitely recommend coming here for color and style with Gabby. She not only gave my cousin a wonderful color result, but excellent customer service. The pricing was very reasonable as well. I had a great experience at the Beauty Bar! Ashley did a beautiful honey blonde balayage on my hair and she did a great job fixing up my last haircut which had left my hair very choppy and uneven. I was very happy with how the balayage color turned out with the exception of the two pieces framing my face which had a bit more of a brassy tone than I wanted. But I called back and Ashley was extremely nice and accommodating with making me an appointment to fix it free of charge and it turned out perfect. This place is AWFUL! I am disgusted by how horrible the beauty bar girls are. I went here with high hopes but I have never been so disappointed before. Mackenzie did my hair, I stressed to her I was nervous and am a "perfectionist" and my hair is everything to me and I'm a blonde who loves her perfectly blended balayages, she assured me she could accomplish the photo I brought in, we talked about do's and don't's for twenty min before she actually got started. I am not from New York and I needed to find someone to touch up my hair before vacation. Long story short, my hair looks stupid, choppy, some areas are super heavy. She refused to refund me the $180 and told me she could add foils in, but I told her in the beginning I don't like foils because of how they grow out so why on earth would I want her to add foils? And why would I let her "fix" my hair after she already messed it up? And she told me if she was going to fix it I would have to wait 3 WEEKS! I should be a priority, I shouldn't have to walk around with ugly hair! So I left, and left a review on Facebook but they girls proceeded to argue with me about the entire situation!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION! then, they blocked me from responding to their last passive aggressive comment. Not sure how they did that? But they did. So now my review does not show up for the public to see except from my own personal Facebook account, and guess what?.. They deleted all of their rude comments, but after I took screen shots, so I have proof of everything that was said, they knew they were rude and insensitive. DO NOT GO HERE! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PLACE!!!!!!! I cannot stress it enough! NOT to mention, moriahs father, Mike, private messaged my husband on Facebook and said "must be nice being in the army and having nothing better to do than harass people " .... Today was my first visit to Beauty Bar. They had great reviews and I was excited to go. Had a 2pm appointment today with Makenzi. I showed up a few mins early (as I always do). At about 2:10 I was told by Heather that Makenzi was running late as she had to go home to shut windows on her house (rain?). 2:15, 2:20, 2:25...Still no Makenzi. Around 2:30 she wanders in and sits at the desk using her cell phone..... At 2:35 she walks over (did not introduce herself) and tells me since I did not confirm my appointment, she did not think I was coming. I told her politely that they never called me. She looked confused...I repeated that I did not get any phone call. She said they TEXT out confirmations and I did not reply to confirm. I told her when I made an appointment they asked for my phone number-they never asked for my cell. I gave them my home phone and I have a machine....She walked off again.... At 2:40pm, without ANY apology or asking if I still wanted my hair done- Makenzi took her next appointment. I sat there in complete disbelief (chair was comfortable- which is the nicest thing I can say). She did not apologize or offer to reschedule me...NOTHING. **I had an appointment!!** They can not even be bothered to call for a confirmation if they want one? When did texting replace customer service? I got ZERO and that is how many times I plan to return to this business. read more

I'm 22 years old and today at beauty bar was the first time I actually liked my hair cutie my entire life. I have straight hair but it is super thick and there is a lot. I told Mackenzie I just wanted a trim or what needed to be cut off however I didn't want blunt or harsh ends. She immediately knew how to achieve the look- however I heard this many times before and was prepared for the worse. She started snipping away and before long I looked in the mirror and was astonished that for the very first time I LOVED my hair cut and it was exactly what I wanted. This is an update---i initially started coming here a year ago, i recommended them on yelp 11/13---this following post is from 11/14. Edit: Initially started coming here for cuts 11/13. Good service and cheap. Decided to take my black hair and gradually go blonde from 2/14 and have been since. I had Mackenzie as the colorist. My hair lifted well, I invested in professional products best recommended. My hair has gradually become thinner and shorter. I saw Leah about 3 months ago for my roots, after that I started noticing more breakage. Last time I was in was first week of October'14. Mackenzie noticed the difference and stated Leah over processed my hair. I was there to get roots done again, Mackenzie didn't say she was changing the shade or bleach/toner. When she was finished, my hair was a dark ashy blonde. (I had gone platinum). It didn't look too bad and I didn't want to complain, so I left. I had a formal event to attend 3 days later. The following night I gently washed and conditioned my hair. The ashy toner washed out, leaving my hair grey, white, platinum, brassy orange roots, and obvious spots that weren't touched up at all. I immediately called (Wednesday) and spoke with Mackenzie, first words out of her mouth were "oh, no the toner washed out, didn't it". I let her know all of the above, she said she'd cancel a client and call me right back. Never called. I had an appt Friday for an updo. So Thursday I called, spoke to Jackie. She told me she could not fit me in until the following week. She stated she had no idea why Mackenzie didn't call back; I begged, felt robbed as I had been a loyal customer every 3-4 weeks and have easily spent over 2k there since 1/14. Still, no appt but they would gladly still do my updo with my multi colored hair. I called Thursday afternoon. Nothing. Friday morning, nothing. I canceled my updo, there was no way out of the rudeness, lack of accommodation, consideration, and treatment of a loyal customer was I going to give them $70 more for an updo. Since then, 2 licensed colorists have looked at my hair and said beauty bar destroyed it and different methods should have been used. I wish I could take back every cent and 20% tip of that 2k. I previously always recommended them. They are inexpensive for their services. In my case, it shows, if you pay cheap, you get cheap. read more

I saw mackenzi for a hair cut the other day. It had been months since my last cut and with my due date fast approaching I needed some pampering and a freshening up! She didn't great job and plan to go back. The staff was all young and friendly and all had great hair themselves. I have very high standards and I joke about how I must've been a hairdresser in my previous life because I know a lot about color, cut, style and things an ordinary person may not consider when selecting a hair dresser. When we first moved here four years ago, I went to three other Salons and I was shocked at the lack of knowledge and interest in doing exceptional work. Then, I found Beauty Bar, thank goodness! Moriah is the owner and she is the best, but I sit in her chair and watch Leah perform and would trust her too. They are all very friendly but most importantly, they know hair and leave every customer with hair to envy! I love the service that they provide at the Beauty bar. However, if you schedule an appointment past 3pm, be prepared for them to call and ask you to push it back. While I can understand a one time movement, this happened on 3 occassions.
