Update: Turned my idea into beautiful box braids... I called to come in for Senegalese twists. Martine allowed me to come earlier than my scheduled day (Friday) because I got off work early... AMAZING!!! I was told what hair to buy and went to purchase what I thought was the correct type of hair. When I got to the shop, I was told I needed different hair for Senegalese, but that the style could be done. I took the suggestion and decided on box braids instead. I was nervous because the ladies were asking me how I wanted the colors and said they didn't match well. But, I tried my best to explain the colors (red in back, blonde towards the front/top and the brown to blend it in) and then told them to do it however they wanted to make it blend well. I just wanted it to be bold... and tada!!! Love my braids and everyone has been complimenting me on them. They are heavy (as expected), but not too tight! No headaches and no loosening req'd. Thank you, ladies for these long, thick braids... they really put in a lot of work and time and stayed later to finish!!! I will definitely be back. While my braids turned out nice, the price changed after I my hair was done due my "height"? I have gotten braids before and that has never been an issue. My braider made a couple of disappointing remarks about my choice of braids and stopped doing my hair to work on someone else AFTER I had already been there pretty much the entire day. Hopefully her opinion doesn't happen to all of her customers. #blessup read more

So happy I stumbled upon this place! The owner, Martine, was very helpful and kind which made getting sew-in weave done for the first time a breeze. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was a long hard process and she handled it and every question I had like a true pro. The shop has ample parking, is very flexible with scheduling, offered a cold water when I got there on a hot busy day and was very moderately priced. It took about 2.5 hours to do a full sew in and I couldn't be happier with how well they were done and how long they lasted. These ladies are great! Very friendly and welcoming. They did a great job with me and my daughters hair. My braids were not tight and neither were they uncomfortable to sleep that night. It breaks my heart to write this, and I have been going back and forth whether to write a review or leave it on, based on the fact that off and on for the last five years, these ladies have done my braids and has even helped me when I was in a pinch, and even now, for that I am forever greatful. However, this last visit was probably my last visit. I originally wanted feed in braids, but after one braid was in, I noticed because my hair was fine and the first braid was larger than I had anticipated, I didn't think the style would be what I desired. Mama asked me why I wanted that style and not only was I on a budget, and explained that, I also wanted to try something different than I am used to. She told me 150 for the same sized braids I usually get instead of the 180 I usually pay for those size and I was indeed grateful. We proceeded with the braids, and initially they were looser than I'm used to so I said to do them tighter because my grade of hair usually unravels from the weave when braided too loosely. I bring my own edge control which is neither here nor there, but this was a large jar, and almost all of the product was placed in my hair for one set of braid install way too much product. I dislike hair being too long, and in all of the five years I have always requested that it doesn't pass my shoulder area as well, and that request was also disregarded this visit and once I mentioned it, it was advised that it isn't going to cut right. During my install, an unknown lady came in to assist the other two with braid down, was extremely rough with my hair, and instead of asking me to put my head down, copping an attitude, and Martine asked me to put my head down. Why she couldn't ask me I am not sure, but the fact that I didn't know this lady and out of nowhere she began doing my hair was new and I was concerned being that the other ladies were in my head already so that's why I was trying to look. She proceeds towards the end applying more product, and roughly handling my head with the towel and water and drying of my hair. I say something again about the length and the unknown lady snips my ends and says she's done. My braids are all different sizes and shapes, they are in no way micros as it kept repeatedly being said to me, and even the parting is all over the place. I go to leave and they're all laughing after I gave martine a hug and seemed as if they were mocking me. I have never felt so disrespected and I have never been so dissatisfied in my hair before ever in all the times I have been there. It truly broke my heart because I thought they knew me well enough to not treat me like that. Sad to say, I was wrong and these braids because of how they were done this time are not going to last even if I take care of them. Usually when I go to have braids installed here I gladly tell someone who did my hair and provide them with a business card. This time, I was ashamed to say. I just got my hair braided and it looks as if it has been up for weeks due to too much product, no oiling of the scalp, and inconsistent installing. read more
