This is what they had originally agreed to do the first time. I have been debating whether three stars is too kind in this instance as they have successfully completed the maintenance they were originally suppose to complete. Only charging us labor this time discredits the time that we previously lost coordinating our schedules and then needing to re coordinate when they called back to reschedule. I understand that mistakes do happen, and credit them for coming back. I am leaving the original comments below because the frustration is real. "We purchased our house two years ago and were told the AC unit was under warranty. We had our annual check completed last week where we discovered the AC turbine was broken and needed to be repaired. We did not know who installed the unit so I used the serial number to track the part from the distributor in Waterloo. I contacted LINS Heating & Air Conditioning and they confirmed that they installed the unit and that it would be under warranty. Fast forward to the technician showing up and taking an hour to tell us that the maintenance would not be covered and we would need to pay $130 to cover the hour it took to do nothing. I called the office and they said they were sorry for the trouble but they would accept the warranty and they would not charge for the first hour where nothing was completed. Shortly after that the owner of the company called me to say he was going to "intervene" with our problem. He informed me that they would not be covering the parts under warranty because it was clearly stated on the invoice that was given to the previous owners that their company needed to be the one to complete the annual inspection for the unit to remain under warranty. The entire experience lacked any form of customer service and I would not recommend them to anyone. To have them tell us two separate times that the maintenance would be covered and then have the owner not take any responsibility was frustrating.If they have already installed anything in your home I would recommend getting a home warranty to help cover maintenance cost when it inevitably breaks."

Marc sent his technician Shane out to diagnose the problem: a cracked heat exchanger that prevented the unit from firing up. Marc was able to locate a replacement but had to drive to Davenport early the next morning, through sub-zero temperatures and terrible driving conditions, to pick it up. Federal Express and UPS had shut down due to the bad weather. The same day, after the county maintainer finally cleared our rural road, Shane came back out to install it. Thanks to Lins, we have heat again! We really appreciate their going out of their way to get us back to a safe situation. Thank you very much!

Eric came and was very informative and knowledgeable about what the house size would need and did not try and up-sell any expensive thermostats or any one particular type of furnace or A/C, but instead took the time to fully explain modern operation and controls and which one would qualify for Alliant rebates. Of the 5 bids Eric's bid was very competitive on price and he was able to schedule me in right away. My first impression of Eric is of a very trustable, dependable person. The bid was to replace furnace, A/C and water heater (Power vented gas) and install gas lines to stove and dryer. Installation to start 11/12 August 2020. A large storm moved through Cedar Rapids and knocked out power to the town for 8 days. Rescheduled for 27 Aug. Eric showed up at 0730 Thursday and Friday and with a helper, did the install. Looks good and works great. He took away all the old stuff and left the place very clean. Eric and his assistant were very nice to work with and I would recommend them to anyone as a competitive, competent HVAC / water heater source. Melinda is the contact person for the office and she is very quick to respond to phone calls or emails. The quote she sent was very clear and understandable. Some of the other contractor quotes I received were very limited on information so it was hard to determine from them what the charges were for. With Furnace Pro, I knew what I was paying for and Melinda was very pleasant to talk to about scheduling installation and any rebate / bill questions.

When I talked to the lady on the phone, I was told installed and old one removed would cost between 1100 and 1200. So I set up a appointment when she gave me that price. The install itself is great. They did a good and quick job. Was happy with their work. Was handed a bill of 1556 after they finished the install was completed. Called the office to see if something else was needed or something that would justify the other 300. Was told at that time the cheapest 50gal they had is 1495 installed which is what I was billed for. Had I been given the correct info in the first place I would of went with a different contractor. They asked if I possibly mixed up my quotes, which no, I got the quote and made the appointment all in the same phone call. Was told they would "make it up" to me on future service. No, I won't use them again after this. If Iowa law would allow it, I would tell them to come and take it back out. Get a written quote from them or you might have a surprise. Will NOT use them again.

However, due to it being a Saturday, I was charged a $250 weekend service charge. The problem was that drifting snow had blocked the outflow pipe. While the technician was at my home, he received a call from my neighbor experiencing exactly the same thing. The technician advised him to clear his exhaust pipe. No charge. I did not object to the technician's service fee, but felt the weekend fee excessive, especially since my neighbor was treated fairly at NO CHARGE.
