Let me preface this by saying, we're first-time home owners (as of 2 weeks ago), so when our furnace started making a loud clicking noise, I assumed something was off. According to the sticker on our unit, Davis Heating & Air Conditioning is the company who had serviced our a/c in the past. I sent a non-urgent email to them on a Sunday morning. Carmen called me within a couple of hours and we set-up a time for someone to come by and look at the furnace between 4-6pm Monday evening or 7-9am Tuesday morning, depending on my work schedule. There is a (reasonable) fee for a technician to come between the hours of 4-6pm, as this is after their normal business hours. That was fine with us because we aren't able to be home during normal business hours. Todd just left. He was super. Bless him for helping us newbies on a Monday night. He explained exactly what happened and mentioned that a part of our furnace was dirty, causing the noise we were hearing. I was relieved to find out that we may just get another 15 years out of her! He did not upsell or tell us that our furnace was on its last leg (I was worried), but educated us about a few things. Brian, another technician, also called me on Monday morning because he had availability in his schedule to come by before 4pm. We appreciated the attempt and phone call, although we couldn't be home at the time. Great customer service from beginning to end. Highly recommend. We'll be calling them back asap for a pre-summer a/c tune-up. read more

This company is trustworthy, providing the best quality of service for the money. They installed a new AC system, replacing my old antiquated Freon sucking monster. They quoted me a price which was thousands less than the other two companies had quoted. (one company was twice as much!) They installed it a week later and did so in one afternoon. The workers were professional, clean, respectful. They are locally owned for years, and are professional. I would strongly recommend them for your heating and cooling systems. read more

Our HVAC stopped working last night after I installed a new thermostat. I called Davis H&AC and they had me talk to the service person. He was great! Talked to me for about 10 minutes and suggested I check a fuse on the control board inside the unit (after disconnecting power). Said that Davis wasn't a Carrier dealer, and told me who serviced Carrier in this area. Fortunately, I was easily able to find the control board inside the unit and find a blown fuse. Got the same fuse from an auto parts store and replaced and the unit was running after another five minutes of putting things back. Our furnace died during the blizzard today. Called Davis, because we have used them for our AC unit, came right out during the blizzard. Todd was very professional and courteous and fixed our furnace. He even made a second trip back with a replacement filter. I had a furnace issue on a Sunday and first called Davis, as a friend had recommended them. The gentleman asked me what furnace brand I had, and he was very honest and said if they came out, I would understandably get charged a weekend rate, and that because they don't install that particular furnace brand, they wouldn't be able to get the part until the next day. Of note, it was negative 7 below zero. I really appreciated his candor, and he even gave me the name of another business that would be able get the parts, if needed, on a Sunday. These guys were GREAT! Very upfront about their pricing -- which was CONSIDERABLY lower than a competitor. Super helpful about giving me options for trouble-shooting what was going on with the AC. And although they didn't have any openings during business hours, they scheduled me for the OT slot for the next day (other places had a week wait for appointments), & then wound up squeezing me in the same day. Saturday at 2:00 our the capacitor on our AC unit went out. We called around to multiple companies, they were going to charge us an unbelievable amount for just the capacitor, we installed it ourselves. We were able to get ahold of Todd and he sold us the part at a much lower price. He even marked where each plug was supposed to be placed and included new hardware for the installation. read more

We called on a Sat morning as our AC stopped working and left a message with their answering service. After a short time Carmen called and said they'd be happy to help us and provide detailed info on their costs for service. Todd came about 3 hours later and checked out our system. He found the problem involved a fan was the problem. Explained that since the system was a Lennox which they don't service there was nothing they could do to help. What they did next demonstrated a high level of integrity and honesty. They didn't charge us and ONLY asked if we need to replace our AC or Furnace we call and give them an opportunity to bid the replacement and earn their business. You can be sure we will do so. Oh yea, they also recommended which competitor we should call to help us get it fixed. Highly recommend this company as I KNOW they treat people right and if I could rate them 10 ********** I would. On the coldest day of the year, my furnace quit working. I was told by several other Heating companies that it would be 2 days before they could get to my home. The people from Davis were at my home within a couple of hours and Cody was awesome! He was incredibly knowledgeable, educated me on some of the myths about the more expensive air filters and offered a very inexpensive alternative to the desk top humidifier he noticed I was using. Who knew the white film those things leave behind is hard on your furnace! He had everything fixed in less than 10 minutes. On the first day requiring heating after we bought our place in Iowa City, we found that our furnace was not working correctly. We texted our real estate dealer and asked who was her go to business for heating and air conditioning problems. She responded that it was Davis Heating & Air Conditioning and gave us their phone number. I called and they arranged for an after hours appointment that same day. The technician immediately diagnosed the problem was that the thermostat was not programmed for a gas furnace, gave me a procedural work around and told me that I should call Mediacom since he did want to inadvertently change the way the thermostat interfaces with their controller. Mediacom came out but didn't know how to program the thermostat (they are supposed to call the manufacturer). I called back Davis and the technician came out and connected a loaner thermostat directly to the furnace and gave me instructions on what to write down if there was a furnace problem. I called the thermostat manufacturer support line who walked me through the programming. I called Back Davis and they came out, removed the loaner thermostat, and connected the media com thermostat. Davis is responsive to the needs of their customers and their staff (office and technicians are friendly and competent professionals. read more
