I told him I was new and then he just jumped in and said well I'll make time to give you a tour. I said I don't actually have time for that today, do you have any literature? Then he said no, and I don't have time for you. What business says I don't have time for you? I literally was considering changing gyms because of the 24 hours option. I can't meet the demands of your front desk representative on the spot therefore I'm not a good potential customer? I'm insulted when I walk in the door? Literally I have never been so insulted as a potential new customer in my entire life.

They were incredibly knowledgeable--not just about fitness and training, but also about proper nutrition and hormone health. That kind of insight is exactly what I look for in a gym and in a trainer. Nutrition and hormonal balance are key to real lifestyle changes. It's not always about pushing heavy weights--it's about finding the right balance. I really appreciated the energy at PDX Muscle. A manager handled a simple membership dues issue by yelling across the entire gym floor that my partner "could not work out until a fee was paid." This was done loudly, publicly, and with zero respect. My partner and I are both long-time Crunch members, and no one should be treated like that over a billing question. It was embarrassing to watch and even worse to experience. Situations like that should be handled privately and professionally, not broadcast across a room full of people. What made it more concerning is that employees mentioned this manager has a pattern of yelling at staff as well. If that is true, it is a serious culture problem, not just a one-time mistake. Crunch promotes a welcoming environment, but this was the exact opposite. I will be following up with management directly, but this needs to be addressed immediately. No member or employee should be treated this way.

Access to the sauna alone is worth the membership. They also have a free weight area and a basic universal gym. The bad: it's not very clean. I go to the same sauna each time because of the class I take and I noticed that the glass door was dirty with fingerprints all around the handle and when I came back the next night it was exactly the same, which means they are not cleaning the space every night. I don't feel confident that the equipment is being cleaned, so recommend that you clean the equipment you want to use before you use it, not just after. You have to buy their yoga mat and towel as part of your membership and I already had two at home, so that didn't make me happy but it is what it is. Personally, going every day is causing dermatitis flare-ups, which I'm hoping will acclimate over time and settle down, but overall the benefits outweigh the deficits. I joined for treating OA hip and back pain and to regain mobility and it works VERY well.

Instead of feeling like a good workout, it felt uncomfortable and difficult to even breathe while trying to move. It's not motivating at all. The heat is so intense that it even fries your hair if you're not careful. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a real gym or a positive fitness environment.
