The House is not a gym, it's a group of coaches and trainers, who teach the correct body position, the reason behind it (helps me remember if I know the why) and how much to lift, based on where I am. The classes are small, it's not a "gym" with tv, lockers and roid heads or dudes trying to look at your butt (not mine). It's a group of folks dedicated to their health, the longevity, the long game is the heart of it. Exercise is not a fad, you do it and then you are done. This is what The House is great at. They are looking for you to learn the reasons you do it, how to pace it, how to develop, track and grow. Concrete example, in March, they had us test 1 perfect rep at the heaviest weight. If I can do a deadlift with 50lbs, that becomes my max. Now when I am working out and the rep 4-6x at 50% of max, I know I am working out with 25lbs. Now I have a goal to increase, and keep building. Education is an important component, not just lifting. As a woman, I never feel uncomfortable in this environment. 3 classes per week = 12x per month at $155? You cannot find a better deal in the Portland area.

We have gone multiple times and now was told that they likely wont heat it this summer. My toddler left with blue lips... kids are all huddled up at the hot tube and its too cold for parents to go in with their kids. Membership was raised and at this point if we can't swim for the summer as a family its likely we will be looking into other family gyms such as Lifetime or Villa sport.... Hopefully the management will change their minds- its clearly a cost issue, but in the long run may make things worse if more families choose to cancel their memberships. On the gym side of things I find the gym equipment and track nice but locker room hot tubs and showers can really use more attention - as they are rather dirty. The cafe never really sticks to its hours. Half of the gym is a day care. Equipment is way too close together. There is ONLY ONE SHOULDER MACHINE. I could really go on and on. Paying for the second most expensive gym in the entire area #1 being lifetime which I can actually get behind. I am truly disappointed. Please fix your prices are upgrade the gym because they do not add up.

Every visit is different - with different focuses, like Endurance, Strength, Upper, Lower, etc. - so you always feel you're working different parts of your body and it never gets boring. That part is great, but what makes this place special is the community that comes with it. Everyone who comes here to workout builds one another up and encourages you. It's been super fulfilling to see others grow stronger and fitter alongside us. The coaches will push you while being supportive, and make sure you are doing each movement correctly. That's something that's really important to me at a gym- getting the corrections needed to do things properly to avoid injury and to get stronger. Each of the coaches takes the time to know your name and something about you so you don't feel like just another head in the class. Cons: The studio and individual pods were frequently unclean, with hair and dust visible. The shower was more often dirty than clean. Most importantly, two critical contract terms were never disclosed at sign-up. First, you cannot cancel before completing five months, yet staff told me cancellation was possible at any time. Second, after one year and nine months of membership, when I submitted a cancellation request with a doctor's recommendation, I was informed that two additional months of payment are required regardless of whether you continue attending. Regarding the workout system itself: the videos offer three difficulty levels and often include form explanations, which is a plus. However, in roughly half the cases the instructor's verbal cues contradict what they are actually doing on screen. For example, instructions about parallel hips, spinal alignment, or proper squat depth are frequently ignored by the demonstrators themselves. Someone following visually without a background in yoga or fitness training would easily pick up incorrect form without realizing it. Poor alignment can ultimately cause more harm than the exercise does good.

The heat is so intense that it even fries your hair if you're not careful. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a real gym or a positive fitness environment.

I'm not sure that I could hang (pun intended) but some of the classes include practicing handstands, working on parkour and perfecting your dynamic strength. They do offer drop in classes and memberships. Definitely would be a unique experience to try once or twice if you would be open minded. I will certainly come back and give it my all!
