The complex has 2 grass fields and 3 turf fields. Turf fields double as soccer fields and baseball diamonds, (not my favorite) The entire complex is ran by the county, so when it rains they tend to cancel games on the grass fields to quickly. Grass fields are still in great shape and play very well. Plenty of bleacher seating and it's all protected with a huge netting system above your head for safety. The complex operates a very clean concessions stand. Clean restrooms, both located dead center of the fields. Huge play structure for the younger kids not yet playing sports. 2 parking areas, but parking is still tight on game days.

The parking is plentiful and the area is immaculate! There's picnic tables, a small playground, and restrooms. My favorite is the little wooded walking trail that I can take my dog for a walk through. Daily you can find little league teams practicing or playing games, people meeting up for impromptu games, or people just enjoying the area. One note is that it can get very busy on the weekends when several games are going on. Sometimes the parking does spill over into our neighborhood, which isn't usually a problem - people seem polite about it overall. This has been a great addition to the neighborhood and I'm glad to live so close to it!

He was very timid and had trust issues with past teachers which would cause him to progress/regress depending on the teacher's approach. He has thrived since coming to the lessons at Hood. After a few weeks he began swimming independently, his confidence and comfort in the water has grown immensely. Can't say enough good things! We will be enrolling our daughter as well. We originally started lessons after a recommendation from a friend who's two children also thrived with Coach Cameron.

Parking is fairly easy; since, you are a net neighborhood with plenty of space. When you get to the trailhead, you could either go left down the hill or go up the gravel road. Do you recommend going left down the trail first. Few minutes into the hike, you come up to a four-way intersection. Turn right to stay on the trail which is fairly easy with some downhill and uphill paths. The second third of the trail is fairly steep which I enjoyed even though it was short. You finally reach a gravel road which takes you gone back to the trailhead. What I like about this hike the most was the scenery which was beautiful and secluded. There's another path that goes down, but after the long hike up there was no way we were going to take it. There's also no dogs allowed at this location with some bs reason stated. Oddly enough this seems to be the only butte in the area with that sign.

This is a review of the flat water float from Dabney State Recreational Area to Lewis and Clark…read moreState Recreation area on the Lower Sandy River. I know this is not a normal category, but I personally felt a review of this trip would have helped me this last summer. From what I hear the top two most popular flat water floats in the outskirts of Portland are the Lower Clackamas and Lower Sandy Rivers. Originally my friends and I tried to float the lower Clack, but the parking lots where full and stuck in a traffic jam. So after about an hour of driving all over and not finding parking we decided to check out the Lower Sandy River section. This float was just as crowded but the parking lot area was so much larger what we found a spot. Now the first tip I will give out is to go early on a weekend day or go on a weekday and you will have better luck. The second tip I will give you is to park at the downhill park first if you shuttle two vehicles. If you want to combine these two tips, make a plan to spend the day with your friends and leave the first car parked early while you go out and enjoy some activities before the float. Though it is worth noting that you can occasionally find shuttle services these days. I have not used this yet, but will next summer. Once we got setup we found plenty of friendly people, if you bring your own pump be prepared for people asking to borrow it. The section of this river is amazing to check out. The beaches have pretty white sand and the water was not very cold in August at least. The water was slow going for the most part but there was a couple of sections where you will want to maneuver quickly and a few places where there is debris. Be sure to keep an open eye out for strainers and foot entrapment opportunities. The river passes through some forests, neighborhoods and has a cool view of a little bamboo garden that gave it a nice little zen vibe. Towards the end there is a rocky area that has some rapids. I made the mistake of tying off onto some friends inner tubes and was shot in between some boulders and rapids. I got lucky, but you will want be be prepared for that as I was not! Overall this was an amazing float that is sure to have you stoked and relaxed at the same time. Be sure not to litter in this area so this activity doesnt get shut down. Still on a high from yesterday's dive!! My gosh was it such an amazing experience. The process of…read moresigning up, reminders to fill out the waiver and checking in was so easy. We got there around 11am and by 12:30, we had all landed. Thankfully it wasn't super busy. We were a party of 6 & with 3 of us wanting video + pictures, we had to split into two different planes. That was the ONLY bummer. The training was super easy and all the instructors guided us the entire time from watching the video to landing. It makes it so easy to relax despite the adrenaline building up. The flight up was a little rocky at the beginning but smoothed out after a couple thousand feet. Kristie was the absolute best camera woman and Mofo Jo was such a great diver to be attached to. I couldn't recommend this place more! My friend had told me she had also come here this month so recommending has now become a domino effect. Already planning my next dive with you guys - thank you so much! Tip: wear comfy clothes that's weather appropriate & tennis shoes (tie them well!)

The pandemic didn't offer many opportunities for fun events last year, but the Rose City Rollers…read morewere saviors with their ticketed outdoor skating events. During the summer you could skate outside the grounds of Oaks Amusement Park, and when the weather turned, they offered skating inside the covered (but side vented) Lloyd Center parking garage. Skating was broken up into 2 hr sessions with a 50 person max. They have speakers set up playing music (this works great at Oaks Park but the sound does not carry well in the parking garage so I usually bring my own headphones and music there.) They have two options: $20 a person with equipment rental (skates and pads) $10 a person if you bring your own equipment or you are just going to walk. If you are bringing your own equipment I highly recommend the softest outdoor wheels you have. The Lloyd center parking garage is surprisingly rough. I used my hybrid wheels the first time and made it work, but the experience was much more pleasant the second time on my gummy wheels.

For what we can see, they have honey buckets for people to use. A nice playground, that I've not seen before. Ventura Park, according to their website is home to Portland Parks & Recreation's first pump track! A continuous dirt loop that can be ridden on a bike without the need for pedaling. It is not designed for skateboarders or BMX riders. The pathway are paved to the play area. We can watch kids play in the playground, by sitting and having lunch from our car. I could see people having a picnic on one of the tables. We will have to come back here & enjoy more of what they have to offer.
