My mother and I took my nephew to K1 Speed for his birthday; thanks to my friend Sasha Martinez for the recommendation he had a blast I highly suggest checking them out...They cater to kids & adults (beer). They had two birthday parties going on while we were there. One older group with ages 50+ and the other group were a bunch of kiddos. They all raced it was fun to watch. It's a nice facility, nice staff, food is pretty decent. I bought two races but only did one because I was scared those go karts are extremely fast, too fast for me lol. We will most likely be back to take the other kiddos.

Entrance, compete with an actual Indy car

K1 Speed is hard to rate, because the racing experience was FANTASTIC, but the customer service and a few other items were less than ideal. First, the good: If you've ever raced gas-powered go-karts at "open to the public" establishments (instead of private competitive places), you know that they're all generally underpowered and slow, and the gas fumes from the (literal) lawnmower engines are sinky and noxious. The carts at K-1 are full electric, and have modern telemetry, electronic control, and display screens in the middle of the steering wheels. This allows for the race controllers to allow racers to file out of the "pit lane" at low speed, even at full throttle. Once the last racers is out of the pit, higher power is enabled, and you're immediately met with a rush of VERY fast acceleration and a top speed that's very well-suited to the challenging and fun course. These cars are TONS faster (top speed) and accelerate TONS faster than any other cart I've ever raced. It is quite a sensation to feel the wind rushing past you as you race. Should a racer spin or crash, the race controller engages "caution" mode, which reduces the carts' top speed to that of racers filing out of pit row, or to stop the carts altogether. When this happens, an animated "Caution" flag is displayed on the steering wheel screens so that racers know what is happening. The course at this location is FUN, and is very challenging. It took me until about halfway through my second race to start to really get the feel of the course, and to really seconds off of my lap time. At the end of your day, you'll be given printouts of statistics of all racers' performance. It should be noted that the objective of the race is to get the lowest lap time, not to pass other racers, although they do offer such races on special nights. While it may not seem like it, K1 Speed is a GREAT Place to bring kids. K1 has "junior" race carts, and if juniors are racing, they race by themselves, thereby allowing them the full course to explore without worry about adult racers endangering them. It was really great to see two youngsters have the entire course to themselves. If you're a petite adult, you're not allowed to race the junior carts, but they do have booster seats for the adult carts. At the location is an actual race car to admire, a small arcade, an eatery, and a giant sign showing an overhead view of the race course, as well as the optimal line one should take when racing it. So, now for the not so great things: 1. The wait times: We went on a Monday night, thinking we'd be in and out pretty quickly, especially considering that the parking lot was basically empty, and the establishment was almost completely empty when we arrived. Despite this, we had to wait about an hour and a half for our slot to come up. We did two races back-to-back, though. While this is completely understandable, I'd really have liked to have had some sort of indication that we'd have to wait that long before being able to race. Also, there was only one employee working the front desk, and it took far longer than expected to get signed in and pay for our races. 2. Stock levels: We each opted for a package that included annual membership, a free T-shirt, and two races. Their selection of T-shirts was wide, but most of them in our sizes were out of stock (women's medium and men's XL), and we'll have to make a return trip to (hopefully) get our T-shirts. 3. The PA system: The race controller announces when racers are to report to the staging area to race. This is perfectly audible and intelligible in the hallway, eatery, and front desk, which is fine if you happen to be in any of those areas. If you're in the arcade or the actual racing area, it is almost impossible to hear because the volume is low, and there's a lot of echo. I'd like to come back to K1 Speed early in the day on a weekday in hopes that it will result in a shorter wait time.

How the helmets get clean during COVID-19?

Great question, PJ. Once used, helmets are placed separately from our other helmets and are thoroughly wiped down/sprayed before reintroduction to the public. Hope we'll see you soon!

Are they open for business right now?

Yes, we are now OPEN for racing!!

The service is consistently rude, cold, and unprofessional. It's the same group every time, and nothing ever improves. There's no sense of customer service. Just short attitudes and a clear vibe that they don't want to be there or deal with people. On my most recent visit, I had an issue where my phone number was entered incorrectly. When I pointed it out, instead of simply fixing it, the response I got was irritation and attitude. Like I was the problem for asking them to correct their own mistake. That kind of interaction is unacceptable anywhere, especially in a place that markets itself as family-friendly. At this point, it's not a one-off, it's a pattern. When multiple visits consistently come with the same poor experience, it reflects a bigger issue with management and expectations. We enjoy bringing our kids here, but the ongoing lack of basic professionalism from the bar staff and the wait staff in the bowling alley, is seriously dragging down the experience. It shouldn't be this hard to get decent service. We all know it all starts at the top.

We figured since the place was vacant it was totally fine given that it's an arcade and kids typically run around there anyways. My sister took the kids up to get prizes after they were done playing games and overheard one of the employees talking bad about us, pointing my sister out to one of his coworkers saying how we just let our kids run around. I'm sorry, but if that was such a big issue we could've had an employee approach us and told us nicely that it wasn't okay. we were there January 6th, the employee that was talking about to us was a bigger dude with blonde curly hair pretty sure his name tag was Riley and he was talking to his coworker who was a girl wearing a green sweater. If they don't like kids being crazy running around then you probably should not be working in a place where the customer base is mostly kids. It definitely makes me not feel welcomed with my kids and makes me not want to come back anymore.

However, we had our annual event this year at Hidden Creek and the experience was extremely frustrating and unacceptable. First of all, they're very strict about anyone even entering the building before the time designated as the starting time. I don't expect them to open the doors of the banquet hall before the starting period that we paid for, but they wouldn't even let us in the building. They would not let us bring any of our materials into the building, and they told us we were not allowed to even unload our materials outside of the door so that once the door to the building opened, things would be unpacked and ready to set up. I was told it was a safety matter, but the materials we unpacked were not in front of the door, but well to the side of the entrance. They enforce those rules very strictly and in a manner that is not particularly friendly. Earlier this year, we held a different event at Hidden Creek, in other words different than the annual event I'm writing about, and they wouldn't even let us look into the room we had rented until the time began that we had paid for. They said that the room was down a hall we hadn't paid to enter, so we were not allowed to look in the room. The facility itself is beautiful, light, spacious, and well appointed. But that does not make up for their overly stringent regulations. For example, in the event I planned, we had to add some speakers to our program, so I asked if I could extend our time by half an hour so we could clean up in time. But they would not allow us to add time, even though I had made that request well before the day of the event. It was not a last-minute request, and, as indicated, I was aware there would an extra charge for an extra half-hour. So I thought we'll just clean up faster (which we did). But unfortunately, our caterers, who were P.F. Chang's, were very late in setting up the lunch, in fact, 45 minutes late, so we had to start our program late. But even with all of that, we worked very fast and managed to finish the cleanup by just half an hour after the time had expired for us to be there. They had no other event after us, and so we did not inconvenience them. Further, there is no indication on the papers that I signed before the event that there was a late fee if we exceeded the time we were in the room. All the paperwork says is that there's a $250 damage fee. But there was no damage to the hall. I'm not arguing that there should have been no fee for leaving the venue late, I just feel that when the total price for each hour is $150, and we reserved the hall for five hours, that it is exorbitant to charge $250. I requested a reduced fee, especially because our lateness was due to our caterer being so late, which PF Chang's recognized and compensated us for, but I got a solid No. They said the contract stipulates a late fee, but as indicated above, that is not true, it stipulates a damage fee. The director of events at Hidden Creek is lovely to work with. She has always done everything possible to make our experience a good one. And I do not hold her responsible for the stringency of the regulations. I am merely saying that the whole issue of charging so much money for being there 30 minutes extra to clean up, especially when the reason our event went late is because our cater was late, is unconscionable. I recommend selecting a different venue for your event unless you want to jump through numerous hoops only to be dissappointed, frustrated and overcharged in the end.
