However, we had our annual event this year at Hidden Creek and the experience was extremely frustrating and unacceptable. First of all, they're very strict about anyone even entering the building before the time designated as the starting time. I don't expect them to open the doors of the banquet hall before the starting period that we paid for, but they wouldn't even let us in the building. They would not let us bring any of our materials into the building, and they told us we were not allowed to even unload our materials outside of the door so that once the door to the building opened, things would be unpacked and ready to set up. I was told it was a safety matter, but the materials we unpacked were not in front of the door, but well to the side of the entrance. They enforce those rules very strictly and in a manner that is not particularly friendly. Earlier this year, we held a different event at Hidden Creek, in other words different than the annual event I'm writing about, and they wouldn't even let us look into the room we had rented until the time began that we had paid for. They said that the room was down a hall we hadn't paid to enter, so we were not allowed to look in the room. The facility itself is beautiful, light, spacious, and well appointed. But that does not make up for their overly stringent regulations. For example, in the event I planned, we had to add some speakers to our program, so I asked if I could extend our time by half an hour so we could clean up in time. But they would not allow us to add time, even though I had made that request well before the day of the event. It was not a last-minute request, and, as indicated, I was aware there would an extra charge for an extra half-hour. So I thought we'll just clean up faster (which we did). But unfortunately, our caterers, who were P.F. Chang's, were very late in setting up the lunch, in fact, 45 minutes late, so we had to start our program late. But even with all of that, we worked very fast and managed to finish the cleanup by just half an hour after the time had expired for us to be there. They had no other event after us, and so we did not inconvenience them. Further, there is no indication on the papers that I signed before the event that there was a late fee if we exceeded the time we were in the room. All the paperwork says is that there's a $250 damage fee. But there was no damage to the hall. I'm not arguing that there should have been no fee for leaving the venue late, I just feel that when the total price for each hour is $150, and we reserved the hall for five hours, that it is exorbitant to charge $250. I requested a reduced fee, especially because our lateness was due to our caterer being so late, which PF Chang's recognized and compensated us for, but I got a solid No. They said the contract stipulates a late fee, but as indicated above, that is not true, it stipulates a damage fee. The director of events at Hidden Creek is lovely to work with. She has always done everything possible to make our experience a good one. And I do not hold her responsible for the stringency of the regulations. I am merely saying that the whole issue of charging so much money for being there 30 minutes extra to clean up, especially when the reason our event went late is because our cater was late, is unconscionable. I recommend selecting a different venue for your event unless you want to jump through numerous hoops only to be dissappointed, frustrated and overcharged in the end.

Let's start with the negative:…read more AC and heat are the only thing bringing down my review. It's often too hot because the AC isn't cool enough, or too cold because of the heat. And sometimes too hot from the heat when it's cold out. So temperature control is a negative. My other negative is when you take classes, or have your kids in classes there, you can't choose the teacher. I totally get that they don't want people basing enrollment on a teacher, but for things like gymnastics and dance, teachers spend the first few weeks JUST assessing kids for their ability and skill level. That wouldn't be necessary if they knew the kids already. So please allow us to choose teachers!! The positive: even though we can't choose teachers, we have NEVER had a bad teacher for the kids. My daughter had been taking classes here for a year now and we have loved them all. Every teacher genuinely cares for the kids and my kids have had a blast. I love being able to do gymnastics and dance here without the super competitive nature that the academies push. I LOVE the playground here. It's amazing. So much fun for big and little kids alike. They do have separate toddler and "big kid" play structures, but no one really minds which is which. The kids just play! I LOVE THPRD and Cedar Hills Rec. Definitely have a great set of people here!

My husband and I have been members since 2009, and I like this club…read more The upside: The tennis pros are all fantastic - Dave, Caitlin, Vetu, Toby, Margo - they are excellent at teaching you what you need to know, and they make it fun. Plenty of parking. Lovely landscaped grounds, mature trees, beautiful. Eight indoor tennis courts and seven outdoors. Plenty of room around the edges of the courts, which I like. Nice to have a bench on each side, lots of clean towels. Recently remodeled bathrooms, very stylish, light, modern. All-you-can-drink no charge delicious ice water. The pool is always busy, looks wonderful. The hot tub is popular. There's a picnic garden which families use all the time on warm days, with picnic tables, grills, shade trees, grass, a play structure. Downside: The courts don't get cleaned very often. The roof leaks when it rains hard. They have a high school swim team that takes over the pool and the dressing areas when they are here. Wish you could buy a glass of wine in a stem glass, and beer on tap, and a few light snacks that don't come in a bag. An easier system for reserving court time, although I have no idea how they would do it. Move the fireplace to a different location so that you could see what's going on on the performance court.

I attended the 5th Annual Beaverton Bash at West Hills Racquet Club. It was my first foray into…read morepickleball tournaments. The experience was just okay. It wasn't as grand as other sporting events I've been to at other clubs. I'm glad I went though. The pickleball courts were outdoors. And of course, the weather played a factor. At times, it got windy, which blew a little bit of debris on the court, or knock the ball out of bounds. We got sprinkled on briefly. We had 6 courts to use, 4 were nice. Of course, my first match was on a temporary court that shares lines with a tennis court. It was hard to see the pickleball lines because it was a faded color that blended into the tennis court. A fellow competitor mentioned that for the first 6 points, she kept using the white tennis lines, and that was out of bounds. The tournament experience was good, even though I lost all 4 of my matches. I still felt good that I competed in singles against much younger women, just shy of my 65th birthday. A couple matches were fairly close. I would totally enter another singles tournament, just not on outdoor courts!

Louie is an excellent coach! He met us at the field ten minutes early, set up quickly and then they got to work. Building up from very basic technical skills to more complex drills, Louie had her smiling within twenty minutes. She looks forward to her weekly trainings and so do my wife and I. It's fun to watch! We've seen improvement within just a few weeks and plan on having Coach Louie as long as we can. Our daughter gets more out of an hour with Coach Louie than a week of training at her club team.

We were on the ice early and skated for an hour. The rink filled up pretty well but there was enough room for every one. Lots of different levels of skaters sharing the rink and bleacher type seats for spectators. Lockers are $0.50 - totally reasonable! All in all, we will be back! $20 includes skates ... nice location, especially now that I know the flow!

If you're here for the sport, the ice is always fantastic; consistently solid and well-maintained, which is clearly why the Winterhawks use it as their practice facility. However, the rest of the facility definitely shows its age. The stands are nice enough, though they are located on the far side from the entrance, making for a bit of a trek if you're carrying gear. The lobby isn't huge, and the locker rooms are a tight squeeze, especially if you have a full-roster adult hockey team trying to gear up at once. On the positive side, you can tell they are making an effort to modernize. The lobby, locker rooms, and bathrooms have been renovated, which is a huge improvement over how they used to be. The staff is also very friendly and helpful, whether you're there for a tournament or just a public skate. It's a classic, "old school" rink that has its quirks but remains a reliable staple for the local hockey community.
