I am a disabled veteran receiving community care through the VA I have the biggest ulcer in my mouth my dentist has ever seen Dr Alexander gave me a steroid that literally glued my sore to my cheek many times and I had to rip it off and it was a bloody excruciating painful mess I received 12 pain pills through this whole ordeal why didn't they give me an anti-inflammatory also they were supposed to send my dental records to the VA and to my dentist and come to find out Dr Alex said he would shoot them right over well 3 weeks later I have an appointment at ear nose and throat at the VA and there's no records to be found just shoddy BS I hope this gets better but so far I can't believe my regular dentist sent me to this place it's hell on earth I would never use steroids to heal a wound like this again it was a complete disaster My biopsy went okay but the overall experience was absolutely horrible I've had this ulcer for over 2 years now and it just seems like nobody's taking me seriously I can see why they're rating is so low and it's getting lower as we speak anyways enough about this place God bless the USA. read more

My dentist referred me here for an extraction over a month ago. Called them, they took my insurance info and said they'd check on schedule and call back. They never did. I called 4x since then and left messages during the last 5 weeks and nothing. For whatever reason, they refuse to call vack. Why? How is anyone supposed to trust a place that can't even handle calling someone back after 5 weeks of repeated attempts by someone in desperate need of an extraction. Well, since there was an "error" updating my previous review, I'll just update with a new review. Update: After several more weeks of waiting to get in for a biopsy elsewhere, she FINALLY got in with OHSU. By then the lesion had grown exponentially and the pathology came back with cancer. Pet scans confirmed it had spread to lymph nodes. Saturday she had her affected mandible removed and replaced with bone from her leg. Moral of the story is, this establishment will let you suffer unless you can pay them. read more

Financial department is unresponsive and overpayment refund from Beaverton Oral Surgery is over 40 days and counting. I was told that the procedure was not covered by my dental insurance and full payment was required up-front. But, my dental insurance did cover some of the procedure and payment form insurance company to Beaverton Oral Surgeons was made. After 5 weeks - calls placed to Beaverton Oral Surgeons financial dept. for status of refund go unanswered and phone calls are not returned. It's not the dollar amount that is the issue, but the total lack of response and patient disrespect. To people reading this review I would advise you to get a referral to another dental office for your procedures. read more

Poor customer service at their front desk. I spent 23 minutes on the phone to be scheduled someone answered and said they couldn't schedule me. I did ask to stay on hold to be scheduled as I work their same hours and only had this chance to schedule. At 5:00pm they dropped my call. I had surgery for 2 implants and doctor DR. ANTHONY B. BOUNEFF and his team did a wonderful job. For the first surgery I was under total anesthesia because a cracked molar had to be removed prior to placing an implant there, everything went great. For the second surgery , second implant, I only needed local anesthesia so I got to experience how professional , efficient and precise they are. After both surgeries the doctor called me to see how I felt and then one of his assistants called me the following day. I don't usually right reviews but I felt compelled to do so in this case, the doctor and his team did a fantastic job and showed care for their patient above and beyond! I have my wisdom teeth removed last month. Called the office to ask if they are in network for my insurance, they said YES. So I had my evaluation with cost me ~$300. After that they told me my out of pocket for my 3 wisdom teeth removed is $1800. I asked them for the details of the coverage. They said they don't know yet, insurance will reach out to me once I have this done. Unfortunately I TRUSTED them and went for the procedure. Avoid this place at all cost. Incompetent office staff and a pretty botched surgery. I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted and had complications afterwards for months - each time I called or went back to the office I was told "you'll be fine" or "it will go away on its own" from suspected infection to bone fragments left behind in my mouth that were never taken care of and have not come out months later. One of the times I complained of discomfort post surgery and was sent home I ended up in the ER and admitted to the hospital with a blood clot in my lung they stated very likely caused by the surgery. Still beyond baffled I told the staff my symptoms and they sent me home claiming it was normal, I could have died should I not gone to the hospital. I was also insured at the time of my procedure but did not have the details of it so I put a debit card down for payment. The billing department is not there to help you, they're there to get the most money for the practice (which fyi, is always going to be more from you than insurance). I sent them my insurance info as soon as I had it - I even called open card/ODS first to insure it would be covered and they said yes. Then I'm told after the fact that the office doesn't take open card and I have to make a thousand phone calls to insurance that don't really go anywhere because the providers billing is who is supposed to work with insurance, not the client - this is something beaverton oral surgeons can't seem to understand unfortunately. Anyways, they finally submit my insurance claim and it is denied because it was filed improperly - but when I write a letter to the heath authority they state never receiving any claims for that service.. weird? right? maybe not as the whole process dealing with billing is sketchy from the start. They now intend to send my bill to collections even though I have the insurance they currently take and the office NEVER had me sign any insurance or medicaid waiver, by oregon law making me not liable for the cost of the procedure. Essentially they are breaking the law. Whoever I spoke to on the phone from billing yesterday yelled at me and said the practice has been open for 50 years with 0 issues, I said well have you been there for 50 years? AVOID THIS PLACE. Terrible experience from the beginning. I was referred here and told I would be getting a phone call to schedule and emergency appt for my daughter. After waiting a number of weeks I called in and scheduled an appt myself. I was told they had been very busy. My daughter has ODS- a branch of Oregon health plan. I made the dr aware that I would like to use this plan. My daughter needed oral surgery and I understood I would need pre-auth from the insurance company all of which was ok. I got to the end and was then told I was needing to pay $250 out of pocket for x-rays. This was highly frustrating as I wasn't told before hand. I did complain and felt slighted because they knew this wasn't covered nor did they ask or warn me beforehand. They sent me on my way with a bill. Fast forward a week after not feeling great about this place and this dr I went else where for another opinion and was told my daughter didn't in fact need this surgery. All In all. If insurance wouldn't cover it, they wrote me a quote for $2,700 out of pocket for a surgery that was not needed. I hate the dentist so much. So much so, that I avoided going for 10+ years despite knowing deep down I needed to get my wisdom teeth out. Finally, was referred to Dr. Bouneff and Beaverton Oral Surgeons by my dentist. I had 2 partially erupted + 2 fully impacted wisdom teeth, one of which was horizontally impacted and pushing on my 2nd molar (requiring a bone graft). Expecting a complicated surgery (I'm also 29, on the older side for wisdom tooth removal), I was nervous and expecting to be out of work/sports for at least a week. Not only were Dr. Bouneff and his team friendly and comforting (making the whole experience way less stressful), I couldn't be any happier with how my recovery has been going. I was able to work later that day, return to exercising the next day, had minimal swelling, and never needed prescription pain pills (Ibuprofen for the first few days was enough). I am now 6 days post-op, back lifting weights in the gym, and couldn't be happier. I can't recommend Dr. Bouneff and his team enough. Hopefully I won't need to make any return visits, but if I ever need any more oral surgery done, they will be my first call. read more

I've had to have 3 surgeries since my extraction. The last I chose to go elsewhere to extract a root that was left behind. I understand this can happen but after months of infection and a second surgery to repair a sinus tear from the first surgery this root should have been taken out so I could eliminate the risk of infection again. Months later the infection was back so I had the third surgery. Now I have pain on my other side and there is a piece of bone or root trying to break through. I now have to go in to have this evaluated. I also have GI issues from antibiotic use now. I'm in pain. I'm a single mom. I couldn't afford the first surgery. The sinus repair was free and I appreciate that but I've had to pay for an additional surgery and possibly a third. I have no savings left. I'm trying not to lose my job by taking off for constant appointments. Don't go here. I feel like I'm in a living nightmare. It's been a long several months. read more

My husband was referred to this surgeon because his dentist said his wisdom teeth were near a nerve and difficult to extract. During a consultation, he asked Dr. Green if his case was difficult, and the Dr. answered, "No, not really." It seemed the doctor just wanted his business, regardless of the truth. He was also told there's a slight chance the nerve could be damaged which could result in numbness of his lip for a few weeks or even up to six months. It's been about 1.5 years now--his lip and front teeth still haven't recovered. Worse than that, the doctor had a constant paranoia, like he was so afraid at all times that he was going to be sued--and when he did make a huge mistake, he swept it under the rug and pretended as if nothing had happened!!! My husband didn't sue--that's not why we went there--but we had to suffer the consequences of their carelessness. After the extraction, they failed to give us water syringes, which we later found out are to be used to rinse the area multiple times/day after the surgery. As a result, the area got infected and we had to go back again...and again...and again--a total of 4-5 times to try to fix the problem. The Dr. and nurses showed NO REMORSE WHATSOEVER, gave no apology. I'd never recommend this shrewd Dr. Green to anyone!!! read more

Dr Phillip Green is simply amazing! Todays extraction took me just over an hour from entering the building to leaving. 2hours later the numbness is gone and I feel great!. I've been to Dr. Green twice now and both times he was quick and proficient. He talks you through the whole Surgery and keep you aware of what he is seeing. I was referred to Dr, Bouneff to remove one of my lower wisdom teeth after it was was giving me so many problems/pain. I ended up needing to go in for an emergency extraction and they were able to fit me in the next day, despite not having an appointment. Already, this was a good sign because I understand how difficult it is to squeeze patients in last minute. I was very nervous to be dealing with this that day, but everyone assisting me and Dr. Bouneff made the experience go by much more painless than I had been expecting. Dr. Bouneff was so nice/compassionate toward me and also let me know everything he was doing during the procedure. The procedure went perfectly and quickly for me (he got that tooth out in no time!) and more amazingly, the wound healed faster than I was expecting. His method of extracting the tooth made the healing process SO much faster than in the past (I have had other wisdom teeth removed and none of extraction areas healed as easily/nicely as this one has). By the next day, the gums were already beginning to close - and by the 4th day, the gums had closed by 80-90%. I was just very impressed by how quickly the healing process was and really appreciated his skills. I would highly recommend visiting Bouneff for any oral surgery. I am very pleased with the surgical work received from Dr. Bouneff and staff. Had been a walk-in customer at the Beaverton office scheduled a consultation and later had an exam with x-rays. It was determined that I had fully erupted upper wisdom teeth and an additional upper tooth that had deteriorated due to an untreated cavity. I needed three extractions. A couple weeks later (earlier this week) I had the extractions. I opted for the local anesthesia which worked better for me because it allowed me to drive home post operation. Dr. Bouneff and nurse Bridget helped me to relax and feel comfortable during the procedure. I feel a lot better just two days post operation. I couldn't be happier that those bacterial infested teeth were extracted. The upper wisdom teeth through the years periodically caused bleeding, swelling, and gum irritation depending on how I bit into food. In fact, the third non wisdom tooth developed a bacterial infection last year where I had to be put on antibiotics. Luckily, the wisdom teeth didn't cause an infection leading to gum disease. Lastly, the evening of and following the procedure I received a warm follow up call from Dr. Bouneff checking on my progress from the procedure. And if that wasn't awesome customer service Bridget the nurse also followed up with me the following day to check on my progress post operation. Overall, I had an excellent experience here and want to thank the entire dental staff for its work. If you are local and/or from out of town I'd highly recommend Dr. Bouneff. read more

This is a follow up to the review that I posted on September 11, 2020. The office manager at Beaverton Oral Surgeons (BOS) has reached out to me and resolved my issues with the company. She explained to me that the person (who is no longer with the company) whose job it was to oversee the coordination of care for patients had made the mistake of not getting the proper predetermination for the work from my insurance company. The problem was further compounded by a lack of communication between the different departments within BOS, so that the office manager was never notified of my ongoing issues. She assured me that steps were being taken to correct these problems. She further apologized to me for my inconvenience and removed the $1673 from my account. I appreciate Beaverton Oral Surgeons taking the time to correct this problem and I feel they will take the steps necessary to minimize the chance of this happening to anyone else in the future. read more

It is now the day after they have called to check in with me to see how I'm doing. Dr. Bouneff and his staff are incredible! Very attentive, friendly, and they genuinely care. I worked with BOS for over a year to restore my smile and my ability to eat. Prior to that I'd always had extreme anxiety when it came to seeing dentists/oral surgeons. Dr. Bouneff and his team have an excellent bedside manner and put me at ease immediately. He performed a pretty extensive bone graft and sinus lift surgery in preparation for 7 implants including a bridge. A few months later they put in the implants, and a few months after that I received my crowns. I feel like I have a new lease on life! I can smile big and show my joy freely, I can eat a variety of foods that I hadn't been able to chew in years, and I no longer hesitate to make lunch dates with friends as I'm no longer self-conscience about eating in public. I received excellent care from Dr. Bouneff. I was referred to another doctor for a wisdom teeth extraction but when I got there for the surgery, she insisted that she could not find a vein (which have a history of being tricky but not impossible) and said that I had to push my surgery out a month and pay and extra $615 for an anesthesiologist. I decided to try and find a doctor that might be able to get me in at a better time, and when we called Beaverton Oral Surgeons, they were able to get us in two days later and were very accommodating in being able to do the consultation and surgery at the same time. The nurse, Shasta, called before the appointment to make sure to touch base, and assured me that she would be able to get an IV going. The entire process was very easy, and when I got a dry socket after the surgery, they were able to get me in same day to take care of it and made sure to monitor it with several easy appointments afterwards. Avoid!! Avoid !! Avoid!!. Sketchy. Dishonest. On march 3, my son had a consultation appointment to remove his teeth . Btw, most other oral surgeons do not charge $150 consultation fee, which should be a red flag in itself to void this practice. Upon arrival, my husband provided our insurance info and asked if they were in the network. They assured him, they are. Then they provided him a quote at the end. When I looked at the quote, I thought the breakdown costs seemed outrageous but then I thought, perhaps this is the going rate these days for Beaverton area. But I decided to do my due diligence of comparison with another oral surgeon office also in Beaverton and the insurance network. I randomly chose Cedar Hills Modern Dentistry. On the quote For item D9222: general anesth first 15 min : $ 624 at Beav oral surgeons but $112 at cedar hills dentistry. For D7240: impact, complete bony-20, $637 at beaver oral surgeons but $273 at cedar hills dentist. I flat out asked my insurance customer service, is Beaverton oral surgeons in the network? Answer was "no". Which explains the outrageous prices. They flat out lied to my husbands face about being in the insurance network hoping he would never bother to verify with our insurance co and wouldn't think to shop around or go elsewhere. Makes me wonder, who else they have lied to but have gotten away with it due to the patients laziness or ignorance or naively had too much trust in their words? This practice must sees the out of network patients as an opportunity to extort more money out of them by charging their higher rates, even at an outright lie and deceit. If there is a pattern of this, they need to be reported to the better business bureau and Oregon medical practice board for frauds read more

I was referred to this office by a friend who is in the dental business. The surgery went fine, but everything else associated with this experience was ridiculous. They did not figure out our double covered insurance before surgery. The night before we got a call and they said I would have to pay $2,400 up front in order to have my son's wisdom teeth pulled the following morning because they couldn't reach our insurance at 5pm. They had ALL of our insurance information when I made the appointment 2 months prior. Knowing we waiting 2 months and my son came home from college to get this procedure done, I paid it up front. They told me it takes 4-6 weeks to get reimbursed. YEAH right!!!! It took almost 5 months and many phone calls to get this to happen. My insurance paid in a timely matter, it was not an insurance issue. Once I talked to the office manager I was paid within two weeks. Not one call to see if I had received the check, no apology note.....absolutely ZERO. Very disappointed in their handling of this situation. Their office gave out flowers so they get a star for that. However, I had my surgery in the middle of November this year and I paid up front which was fine, but they did not submit the claim to my dental insurance until I called and asked about it in December. Then, at my follow up appointment in December I asked about the insurance claim and they were surprised to find that they had only submitted it the day before. They are supposed to bill both Dental and then Health insurance, but because they dropped the ball it is taking longer than usual. Dr. Bouneff, who was habitually late, did not even look in my mouth to see how everything was healing and had no plans to check on me again. I was referred to Dr. Green by my dentist. I needed a molar extracted and my dentist referred me to him because there was a possibility the roots may have extended into the nasal cavity. Luckily this was not the case and Dr. Green was quick and proficient with the extraction. He answered all my questions. My reason for giving him a lower rating was I had issues after the extraction. Several days after the extraction I started getting agonizing headaches which increased in intensity and did not stop. During my followup 6 days later, his fellow surgeon explained I had a dry socket and packed it with a numbing agent. Dr. Green was unavailable. I explained to him and his staff that I was not able to keep anything down. They assured me what I was feeling would soon start to subside and to continue with the medication. On my next followup 2 days later, Dr. Green was still unavailable and I explained to his assistant that I was still unable to keep anything down and had eaten very little for the past 3 days due to this. I was told again this would subside and they again packed the socket with a numbing agent. During the packing, the assistant's device slipped off the packing material and he literally jammed his metal instrument against the bone in my socket. I almost fainted from the pain. Words can't describe how painful that was. I cannot fault Dr. Green's work as a dry socket is something that can occur with a tooth extraction. I do fault him for not being available for his patients and his complete lack of pain management strategy as well as his staff's either lack of experience or bedside manner or both. It's been ten days since my tooth extraction and 7 of those have been spent with one constant excruciating headache that have only just started to subside in intensity. I understand Dr. Green is a busy man however I was not enthused to be a patient in assembly line medicine. read more
