Becker's Piano Tuning is truly an exceptional business. My family piano had been essentially neglected for years until I had decided to get it tuned. It was out of tune, responded poorly to key contact, and was overall in a pretty bad shape. Discovering their business in Chesapeake was amazing news, and I was met with a quick response and prompt, flexible scheduling for a tuning in my own home. Both Michael and Kyle displayed patience, politeness, and colloquial professionalism upon arrival and during conducting their services. By each time they worked on my piano, it completely different and better every time. Their rates are fixed for the most part depending on what needs to be worked on, but all-in-all affordable for restoring the beautiful sounds of my formerly neglected instrument. If you are looking for a place to get an honest opinion for a repair quote on your piano - this is the place to go. I was prepared to pay the minimum $95 to get my sticky keys fixed on my piano but I called Kyle and he was so kind!! Instead of diving for my money, he said sticky keys were easy to fix and walked me through text messages and FaceTime to fix the issue. Would you believe that a post it fell in my piano and was the cause of the sticky keys? I felt silly - this was a YouTube issue and Kyle was kind and patient with me! The best part - it was all for FREE! I truly appreciated the extra effort Kyle gave to help me out and I will certainly come back here to get my piano tuned and/or get our piano repaired. read more

I inherited an older piano from a friend who was purchasing a new one. My musician son (and my untrained ear) could tell very quickly that the piano needed a tune to get to the right pitches and notes. I contacted Kyle and he was very quick to respond. Within a week he came to service my piano. He was punctual and very knowledgeable on the piano's issues. Kyle worked quickly (he was done in about an hour and a half due to needing a little more TLC), and the cost was very reasonable. Absolutely great experience with Kyle. I had just obtained a Knabe console (made in late 1950s) from a lady who was moving, and so needed to have Kyle come to get it tuned up. I left a message for Kyle and he quickly called me back and was able to set up a time in Williamsburg to come to my house. Kyle did a great job fixing a few problems with the piano and getting it tuned, all at a very reasonable price. He was very friendly, answered my many questions, and even gave my piano a good workout to show how good it sounded after he had tuned it (He is a much better player than I am!). Am very glad Kyle was recommended to me by my local piano store in Williamsburg and look forward to working with him in the future to keep my piano in good shape. Although I have a digital Yamaha, I really enjoy feel of an acoustic piano. Really top notch! read more

My house contains one upright piano. It is not my piano, it is my girlfriend's, and her grandfather bought it when she was a kid. When she finally got it moved down here from her dad's house in Colonial Heights, that made it badly overdue for a tuning. I got it tuned as a gift. I decided on (Kyle) Becker's through a simple process called "Googling 'Norfolk piano tuning'" followed by a second process called "Only place at that price point that answered my call". Not the most robust way to pick a service, I admit, but it turned out well. First, he was very cooperative with my time needs. I don't get home from work until 6, and that wasn't a problem. I had asked for a pitch raise, a tuning, assessment of some damage to the wood, and for some stuck keys to be unstuck. He charged me $85 for the tuning and I think $10 for the unsticking (he said the lubricant that penetrates into the key mechanisms is expensive). He would have charged me more for the pitch raise - if he had done it. As it was, he told me I didn't need one, which I appreciated since he could have said the piano did need it and I wouldn't have known any better. He also told me the wood damage was strictly cosmetic, which definitely made my girlfriend feel better when I relayed it to her. The piano now sounds to my girlfriend's satisfaction. One of the stuck keys (there were six or seven before he worked on it) still sticks a little, but less than it did before he serviced the piano. So, I'm satisfied. All this was actually a few months ago, and at the time he didn't accept credit cards. He told me he was in the process of setting up for them, so maybe he takes them now. Kyle is the only person to tune my personal Wurtlizer and it's perfect; he does it twice a year. Plus I love to hear him play it right after. Very talented pianist, as he should be. But my first time hearing a really REALLY significant difference was when he had to tune a busted piano I use regularly [unfortunately]. That sad piano sounded like a saloon piano in a Western, with anything I played...be it Chopin or Chopsticks. After he worked on that poor thing for a minute, it was revived, and wow. I love playing it. It sounds beautiful. It's a lot older, and it gets mistreated because it isn't in my personal care, so we call on Kyle to tune it quite often (four times a year, perhaps) and he gets it right back. We call him The Piano Whisperer. He's that good. read more
