*This is an edit to my previous review from May 27, 2023. I am going to give Billy's Shoe Repair 5 stars. I have brought numerous designer shoes here (Dior, Gianvito Rossi, and Hermès) both new and used. I continue to come here because he does a good job. I did have a poor experience recently, however, Billy's Shoe Repair made it right and treated the matter respectfully and with integrity. Most importantly, Billy's Shoe Repair took responsibility and I respect that more than anything. He is a stand up guy and works hard. It is difficult to find a high quality cobbler these days and its even harder to find one who is willing to treat customers with respect and honesty. I would recommend this cobbler to anybody. I had ordered a pair of brand-new, Italian leather, knee-high boots that would not zip up all the way due to the size of my calves. =( The retailer from which I purchased them suggested they would need to be gusseted; this would have been an expensive proposition. I've bought Redwing boots for close to 50 years. Not cheap but my favorite boots for working all year round, from concrete work to building cabinets. My last pair I bought in 2015. They had a bad tongue and I tried to get Redwing to correct them. They made a cursory attempt but eventually blew me off. Normally I'd buy a pair every year or two as needed when they wouldn't make the boot right or replace it I haven't bought a pair since. I put the last pair in my closet and forgot about them until I heard about Billy's Shoe repaiir. I decided to give him a try and now am wearing my Redwings but with more credit to Bill'y's than Redwing. I'm taking some of my older Redwings back to him. Some go back almost twenty years. Seriously the ONLY place in the VB/Norfolk area that could repair my shoes. I've got 2 running shoes that my big toe punched a hole in the top of the fabric. No other shoe repair center could stitch and patch the hole together. The gentleman is very nice to work with, even though he has a busy backlog. I had to wait 3 weeks to get my shoes repaired but i understood he had a large order of things to get to first especially since he seems to be the only one in our area with the correct equipment to do such a repair. Regardless, he was accurate on the date the shoes would be ready and he even reglued the fabric to the soles that started to peel away, at no extra charge. I put heel plates on hollow heel boots, causing the heel plate to crack. I called around and was given prices, some in excess of the boots cost. I text Billy, he sent a text back asking for a picked of the boots. He sent me a quote. I took my boots to him and without mentioning the quote, I was charged as quoted. No up sale, and he actually recommended that I do not add heel plates once repaired. Great customer service, Great price, beautiful work and he completed the job on time. read more

The sole of my favorite boots came apart. Billy looked at the bottoms of both shoes and told me what my options were for the repair. This allowed me a way to choose what I was willing to pay. I went with the resolve of the front of the soles on both shoes so they would match and wear evenly. He polished them and made them look like new. They were ready on time. read more

Exceptional customer service! I called when the shop was about to close. Due to my commute, Billy kindly waited thirty minutes for me to drop off my boots to repair. The price to repair the heels is only $10, which is the cheapest in the area. Putting a new sole on a pair of female boots is $25. Billy is friendly and customer-oriented. Billy is a busy guy but he kindly rushed one pair with minor work needed so my son could have them before he went back to school. Both pairs were done in the time promised and the work was excellent. Billy's shoe repair is as good as it gets. His work is top quality - every single time - and I'm pretty pick when it comes to my shoes! I drive almost an hour to bring my shoes (and luggage) to him for repair and cleaning. He has cleaned dog poo off suede heels, replaced treads on beloved sandals, cleaned my husbands leather boots to a shine, repaired soles and tips on high heels, and fixed a suitcase. His prices are really reasonable. He is in such demand that his normal turnaround time is 7-14 days, but he has helped me when I've been in a pinch. I won't go anywhere else.
