Renovated about two years ago, it's a nice stop for clean restrooms, food, gifts and more. Prices at the eateries seem a few dollars higher than what you'd typically pay and the wait can be pretty long... maybe it depends on the time of day. On a Sunday around 1pm, we waited about 15 minutes for nuggets and fries. Nice stop for cars, RVs, and truckers.

It's a new, attractive, and very clean travel plaza, though not a truck stop. The showers have been removed. The food options are Popeyes, Wendy's, and Starbucks, which I find somewhat limited. Prices for food and beverages are high, and the restaurants close in the evening, leaving only the restrooms open. The building's design is awkward; upon entering, one is immediately in a small store. The quick-serve restaurant lines are to the right, requiring one to navigate around them to reach the gift shop in the back. This design is particularly inconvenient during busy periods.

Very nice travel plaza about 30 miles south of Charleston WVA. The surrounding town of Beckley offers a multitude of food and other choices, but the travel plaza keeps you within shouting distance of the interstate and offers enough food and gas for a great pit stop. Nice clean bathrooms too. This plaza is a relatively new as it appears to be one of WVADOTs largest and most spacious. Food items included Chic-fil-A, Starbucks, Wendy's, and the like. Lots of seating to enjoy the food. Unless you're going to Charleston, this plaza makes a great stop and avoids the city. Recommended.

This is a must stop on the WVa turnpike. Not to get gas but to stop and stretch h the legs! Oh yeah, and to check out the sinks in the restroom too!

Man all the food options are close beside Sbarro and Starbucks. It is almost like a rest area now with huge restrooms and a gift shop. There is a huge Exxon next to it. What happened to all the food options. Needs to get a chicken place or McDonald's in there. Next exit, 44 I think has better options.

Popeyes took 46 minutes to get us our food.. I know it's new but this is insanity. Terribly ran. Won't be back.

Very busy, not very clean, but large enough for a quick in and out, unless getting food.

They did a good job putting up information and learned so much about what it was like to work here for the railroads way back when. It's incredible how times change, things become more efficient, jobs are reduced, and eventually eliminated. I spent a total of an hour and 15 minutes here for reference. There is a gift shop where I got my usual souvenir magnet, but there are other neat things here as well! I was tempted to buy the "dining on the railway" book (or a name something like that). A great piece of history here and I hope someday the interiors of the buildings can be brought up to code and replicated to look how they did in their heyday so we can get a real feel of walking into the businesses (also a rebuild of the Lafayette Hotel would be amazing, even if just a smaller scale). I'm glad what is there has been preserved by the NPS! I have to say, I left West Virginia with a treasure trove of history!

It's also a good place to get information and load up on water before heading down into the gorge where amenities are limited and cell service is generally absent. There's no charge to stop in.

I feel like the center was closing earlier than I expected it to, so we had to make our visit a quick one but it is a great jumping off point for spending time in the park.

While we decided to just stick with hiking, the national park offers rafting, fishing, hunting, and bridge walking. The canyon rim visitor center was packed with useful information and history, the staff were friendly and helped us map out our day. This national park has free entry which was a nice bonus! If you're camping go early because you can't reserve campsites and they fill up fast. We couldn't find a spot for the first night and ended up having to stay at a paid campground outside the park. The second night we found a spot at Meadow Creek campground, it's an open field surrounded by trees. Don't miss the waterfall or the old railroad town of Thurmond! You'll cover all angles of the bridge (well, not an aerial view) by doing both. The bridge walk was a unique, bucket list experience and the 8 mile one way drive was very picturesque. Make sure you visit the Canyon Rim visitor center too which has an epic view of the bridge and canyon in back!
