Nice little Welcome Center on the south side of Charleston WVA as you head north towards Chicago. Pretty nice restrooms, and a Starbucks, KFC, and Burger King for eats. Gas prices at the ExxonMobil station were reasonable, but half the pumps had problems ... such as the credit card reader didn't work or the pump was closed. Wow--this place is nasty and not very traveler friendly. Long lines for overpriced unhealthy fast food options. Four dirty picnic tables in the sun by trash cans if you plan a picnic. Biting flies to keep you company. No water fountains and the pet walk area is large enough for a hamster. read more

OK, so I was re-viewing some reviews and noticed that the previous bit was actually for the BK-less MP 69 rest stop on the other side of the road heading south and not this one with an actual BK. the confusion started with pictures of 'over there' being found over here... so I'm here again since mostly I'm going up first and then to the left this trip (might be the last time since the tolls are fridiculous) I am halfway through the hills and it's a good spot to pull over for a stretch and a tinkle but not at the same time. snack options include kfchicken and pizza hut, burger king, starbucks, and others. kinda hit or miss as to who is open and who isn't but I've never seen them all closed when the sun was up or near about. also have a sanctioned tourist information center and gift shop plus another traveler's shop besides and plenty of room to rest or relax depending on what exactly needs attending. read more

The restrooms floors smelled like piss and it was too strong with parts of the floor sticky, besides that it was not too bad, the food court had a Burger King and I forgot what the other restaurant was, there was plenty of parking for trucks and cars, not as big as the service plaza by Tamarack but it was convenient. read more

Stopped here on a roadtrip to Charleston, WV. The mountain roads were getting VERY dizzy and I needed to stop and take a break. There is plenty of parking, just be sure to pull through so you can leave straight out rather than backing out of a spot. The drivers coming in were driving fast and not paying attention to parked cars, probably looking where they needed to go rather than focusing on me trying to back out. There are signs to not let your dogs out in the big strip of grass, pointing to a non-existent or difficult to find dog walk. Be careful walking around with a leashed dog, as the drivers don't pay attention and there was only a little bit of grass for them to go to the bathroom next to the building. The inside seemed safe and the restrooms had several stalls for a quick in and out, back on the road. There was a Starbucks and a few restaurants inside, but the lines were a few people deep and they didn't seem to be moving at a fast pace. read more

Just fine. A pretty standard highway plaza. Most of the stuff was closed on Thanksgiving, but of course the restrooms were open, and clean, and big. The Burger King was open, and had some extras like candy, etc., for your roadfood needs. The food prices were pretty high. I think there were a couple of other restaurants, a coffee shop, a gift shop, etc. Big parking lot, easy access, reasonably priced gas. read more

Convenient rest stop on the 2nd leg of the West Virginia Turnpike. Easy in and out. Very limited selections for each of the restraunts though. Not the cleanest bathrooms or building but for a quick stop, not bad. read more

This is a really nice rest stop!! They have an Exxon gas station and really clean restrooms. They have a nice all things WV gift shop with all sorts of cool gift items from jewelry to pottery. There is also a KFC, Burger King, Starbucks, Cinnabon, and Hershey I've Cream shop on site. The staff are all super nice and helpful too. read more

Solid small plaza on the West Virginia Turnpike. Nestled between the river and highway it offers both a beautiful mountain view, and travel goodies. I almost went crazy for fresh baked Cinnabon and a Starbucks. It's next to a decent bend in the highway, so the off 'ramp' is pretty short. Reviewing rest stops at random oh yea!!!! read more

This place is an oasis on the blah trek that is the turnpike! Skylar and her partner behind the counter at Burger King were super friendly and accommodating, and the gentleman cleanin off the tables in the dining room was cheery and welcoming. Not everyone needs a whopper w/onion rings at 8am, but when u've been on the road awhile & it sounds amazing, it's nice to have someone make it happen with a smile. Dunno when we'll be back thru, but we'll definitely stop again. If you're in need of a rest and some great customer service, make sure you don't miss out on this little gem nestled in the mountains! read more

As far as rest stops go this looks pretty nice, but looks can be deceiving. Don't get your hopes up to eat when you stop here. We arrived eating pizza at 6 pm on a Saturday and they were out of pizza and breadsticks. I tried to order and drink from Starbucks and they were out of their caramel and mocha syrups, they were out of bananas too so a smoothie was out of the question. The Hershey ice cream shop was closed and Cinnabon was out of cinnamon rolls! Save yourself the disappointment and skip this place. If you like Burger King or KFC those seemed to be the only places offering everything on the menu. The only reason I gave two stars was for working bathrooms, but they even were on the dirtier side. read more

Stopped here on our way home from South Carolina. Decided to order lunch from the Burger King inside, Big mistake. Took almost 25 minutes for them to get the food ready and call our number. By that time the line was at least 15 people deep. I doubt I was the only one not happy that day. Note to self...Dont eat at rest stops. read more

As far as rest stops go, this one is pretty nice. It's got food, showers, pretty clean bathrooms, and a great view. It also has a very large amount of parking. My only gripe is that it's slammed with big trucks and Confederate flags which, to me, makes the environment less than relaxed. read more

I stopped here first in 2011 when I was driving from Beckley to Ripley. I was planning to stop here again in September 2018 on my way back from Beckley; however, I missed the turnoff for Morton Travel Plaza. I was looking for a road sign to alert me where to pull off, but I never saw one. Is the Plaza visible from I-77 (northbound)? I wish I had not missed it, because I needed a break from driving. read more

No No No. The gas is 10% over priced. All three food options are serving reheated frozen food sitting on the warming shelf. The entire staff was on a cigarette break. The dog walking area was next to the semi truck parking. I had walked the dog plenty by the time we reached the grass. read more

Rest stop is plain OK. Nothing to write home about. Gift shop has a variety of knick knacks and I give them credit for nice packaging of my geo formation rocks. A 4 star for that gift shop. This rest stop losts 2 stars because of the KFC in it. I tried to look this up this KFC to yelp but could not find it. Folks, beware of the KFC here! I ordered the 8 piece bucket. Well, I can see and taste the oil that they were fired in was very very very old. Fried, dark translucent batter that clings on the side of the piece of overfried chicken should have been a red flag alone. Old oil, way too much oil and a tough bird is not worth my $20 after tax. We were able to down 3 pieces with the help of a lot of water and decided to trash the rest. I felt bad for the chicken that made the sacrifice for us and we couldn't even eat it. My big complaint is i got sick from it so badly that it came out of my both ends. If it was not a grab and go situation I would have returned the order even before digging in. That is how bad it looked and how much it made me sick later. I will be calling KFC headquarter to complaint. This location should be banned from making and selling national brand KFC, which I have tried all over the country and by far, this location disgusts me to no end. Wow! read more
