I'm a runner, and after doing a half-marathon a few years ago, I developed persistent ankle pain in one side that wouldn't go away. I went to a doctor, had an MRI, did physical therapy for a while, saw a chiropractor for around 6 months, and tried all sorts of insoles, but it just wouldn't go away or even improve. I had pretty much given up when a friend and fellow runner recommended Jen. She'd gone to Jen for plantar fascitis and had gotten immediate relief. I had done traditional acupuncture once before (just to try it; not for any sort of physical issue), and while it was nice, I didn't really experience any noticeable effects. So I couldn't imagine it would help with ankle pain, especially when nothing else had. But I hadn't tried the style of acupuncture Jen did for my friend, so I figured I had nothing to lose here. Jen immediately made me comfortable and listened to my issues, then talked me through what she was going to try. She focused on releasing my tight calf muscles, and the sensation was totally weird but not painful at all (like a brief, fluttery muscle spasm, and after the session my muscles were sore, as if I'd worked them out). After enduring things like deep muscle stripping (which left me bruised for days) to trigger point therapy massage (AKA extended torture), I was really relieved at how easy and even relaxing this was. After two sessions, I went on vacation. One evening, after I'd gone for a morning run and then walked around the city all day in crappy sandals, I realized that my ankle wasn't bothering me. At all. This was the first time since the pain began that I hadn't felt it after a run or after a day on my feet (not to mention BOTH). I couldn't believe it, but this was the first and only thing that worked. Like, at all. I've since kept seeing Jen to maintain my happy ankles (the persistent pain has never come back!) and also to address other issues, from wrist pain to allergies to neck cramps. I always look forward to my appointments, and I leave completely relaxed and feel real improvement in whatever we worked on every time. The clinic is clean, organized, and doesn't feel overly chaotic or rushed like some bigger medical offices. Check-in is usually quick and the front desk staff have always been polite and professional in my experience. The providers are definitely the highlight here. They take their time, actually listen, and don't make you feel like you're being rushed out the door. I've always felt like my concerns were taken seriously, and they do a good job explaining things in plain language. Wait times are generally reasonable, though occasionally you might sit a bit longer than expected if they're busy. Nothing too unusual for a doctor's office. The only real downside is communication through the patient portal can be slow at times. It usually gets handled, just not always as quickly as I'd like, so calling the office is sometimes better if it's urgent. Also, getting appointments can take a bit of patience, especially for new patients or same-week visits. Once you're established though, scheduling gets easier. Overall, it's a solid primary care clinic. Not perfect, but dependable, and I've felt well taken care of here. Came here for a massage from Kim Masoni…read more It was amazing - one of the best massages I've ever had! She started me out on my stomach, and it only took a few minutes before I was completely melted into the table, drooling through the head-hole. Kim gives a Hawaiian-style massage, with long strokes and she uses her forearms a lot. When I flipped over onto my back, she went to town on my neck, which I find a lot of masseuses just dance around. She also included my tummy/midsection in the massage, which I haven't had anyone do before. Kim took her time and I never felt like she was watching the clock. When she left the room for me to get dressed, I took my time stretching out on the table - usually I feel like I have to get dressed quickly, but not here! Kim is very calm and friendly, and she has a great energy that goes into her work. I could tell that she really loves what she does. When I left, I felt like I was standing 2 inches taller! Jeanne is the reason I'm pain-free…read more When I first started acupuncture treatments with her, the list of my aliments was long. Yet after only a few treatments, most of my health issues had disappeared. After a few more treatments, almost all of my health issues had gone away. As of today, they're all gone, and any time I feel a cold or flu coming on, I rush in for a last minute appointment and like magic, I don't get sick. She's amazing. She is very knowledgable, caring, and gentle with the needles (I don't even feel them go in!) and she makes you feel right at home. So much so that I often fall asleep during the sessions because I'm so relaxed. In addition to the acupuncture, Jeanne also offers other forms of oriental medicine treatments to relieve various ailments. So for example, I sometimes have neck and back pain so she will do "cups" or "cupping", or something else to relieve what's going on. (Gwyneth Paltrow made cupping popular in the USA, so did the Karate Kid). She might also prescribe herbs to take if you need them and they actually work so definitely take them! Though she cured all my major ailments, I still see her on a regular basis because it feels SO great to have a treatment. I'll walk into an appointment carrying the general stresses of life, and I leave feeling happily wonderful (and singing, but not out loud until I'm back in my car). My advice to you: Just say YES to everything Jeanne offers to do during an appointment (especially the liniment oil at the end). Don't worry, the price remains the same for the appointment, and the only additional cost is if you need to buy any herbs to take home. (If she recommends you to take herbs and you want to be healthier, then get and take the herbs). The herbs come in different forms (drops, pills, tea, etc..) and if you get the powder herbs, just know that they don't taste good. So if you make them into a tea, just add a lot of honey. The dark, thick local honey seems to really cover up the taste and it's good for you too. If you've never done acupuncture before, it might take a few treatments before you feel a noticeable difference, but once you start feeling better, you'll never stop going (at least to Jeanne you won't). I go weekly though some people go every two weeks, and I highly recommend that you don't let too much time lapse in between treatments if you want to feel consistently better.

I tried the sublingual drops from Whole Foods and People's Pharmacy. Nothing worked well. As a last resort, I tried AAT with Alyse. I was ready to move out of Austin. I am here to tell you that I no longer suffer from allergies and I rarely use my Allegra and nose spray. I haven't touched a netti pot in over a year. I went in skeptical with this type of treatment, but I was desperate to feel better. Living in Austin, most people just accept that suffering with allergies comes with the territory…read more My son, Tannen, had been affected by extreme allergy reactions his entire life. He was always on antibiotics, multiple daily allergy medications, antihistamines, steroids, different inhalers, eye drops, topical creams, decongestions, cough suppressants, and nebulizer treatments. He had even been hospitalized at one point. We would get letters from his school saying he had missed too many days. We tried the allergy shots. He had the worse reactions and would end up having to go back on steroids. He was so desperate for relief, we went to visit an ENT to look into having balloon sinuplasty. The ENT doctor told us that because of all his sensitives, it may be better if we moved. Tannen's allergies affected our entire life. Where we go on vacation, whether we get a family pet or not, or what sports we played (because he couldn't be outside very long)...his allergies dictated everything. He wanted to just crawl out of his skin. As a parent, nothing could leave you feeling more helpless. A family friend told me about Alyse and AAT. I only wanted a home birth but ended up with an experience I would never forget. During the check up I was comfortable and my kids love Mandy and Melek. I was learning things from them that would make things easier during labor (I did not get this type of service from an Ob/Gyn and I had 3 kids before the home birth). It was much more than I could have asked for. My husband enjoyed the whole process. He said it was easier than having a hospital birth. He did not have to take the sleeping kids anywhere and they were able to sleep during the delivery. I was not pressured into doing anything I was not comfortable with. I was even learning things after the baby was born. The whole experience was amazing for me and I am so glad that Mandy and Melek was there for me.

During the labor Mandy and her students gave helpful suggestions for breathing and positions, but they also gave us plenty of space to let the birth progress naturally. When our baby girl did finally arrive, it felt like we were among family who was just as excited and joyful as we were to welcome this sweet little one into the world. After the birth, Mandy and her students changed the sheets, started the laundry, helped us with the first diapers, showed us how to hold a newborn, and helped establish breastfeeding. Mandy and her team were true baby whisperers. They were so sweet, loving, and tender with our newborn baby. My wife and I felt like we had the best birth experience possible. It was so nice to be in our quiet house after such an amazing and intense experience. We also felt very safe and reassured through the entire process. Mandy is a true expert and professional.
