I there were negative stars. THE WORST EVER! I rarely write a review that is not 5-Stars, however, in a little over a year I have been a member with BECU, I have had THE WORST EVER banking experiences with them. They are highly inefficient, the on-line banking website is down 50% of the time, I cannot access it. We financed a new car with BECU and then did a refinance within 30 days when we got a better rate and they would not let us refinance without getting the dealership involved. The wait to speak with a representative is always long and when you do get to speak with them, 50% of the time they have been incompetent and I had to return at a later date to complete a transaction or a transfer to a trust account. I will be canceling my account as soon as I can access the online banking or get to branch and withdraw all of my funds. There is much more, but I am getting too angry thinking about it! read more

I LOVE THIS CREDIT UNION...I have been with Bank of America forever and have multiple accounts with them. I mean everything was with them. Went in for a car loan one day and they sarcastically laughed at me because I asked to apply in person!!! Can you believe that??? How dare I want to talk to a person about a significant purchase. I went to BECU and walked out less than an hour later with a hassle (laugh free) experience. The woman who helped me was so friendly and made this purchase absolutely painless. I am about to switch my entire financial life to them. Run far, far away from big banks. I will never go back. I LOVE YOU BECU! read more

Definitely do not use BECU. They are not the "people first" credit union they claim to be. I've been a member for 27 years, not missing payments on any of the loans I've had, and I recently applied for a home equity line of credit. And I even had a positive loan to balance request, and I was disapproved, due to 1 previous problem I had with a creditor that wasn't related to BECU. So they surely don't treat their long time established customers with any respect. I'm moving my loans, checking account, and any other business away from them. You need more ATMs installed that can take deposits. It doesn't do me any good that there are a million atms I can pull money out of. As a business owner I need to deposit money. The lines are always long at the BECU branch, there are 5 ATMS at this branch plus inside tellers and yet it is always a 20+ minute ordeal. The past 3 times I've tried to use ATMs that do have deposit outside of the branch, they have been broken. Big 5 in Shoreline twice and another location once. It's simple, get more ATMs with deposits. On a totally different note, just putting one more complaint in for your home loan department. We had a very bad experience with them. We ended up switching lenders and got it done in less than 30 days. Ended up costing us money to have another appraisal done etc. read more

This branch in particular is the one I don't like. Literally every other BECU has been courteous and kind to me. I have been told FIVE different things while I try to change my name on my account. Each time they say I don't need the piece of ID I did bring (even though the time before that I got asked for it) and I drive back, I just get a different teller that doesn't say the same thing. Do you guys communicate, have meetings, anything? I don't care about lines, whatever. It's a bank, I pretty much expect that. You guys sure could learn to use some kindness. BECU is a great, local, non-profit credit union. They have great rates and great service. Used to only be available to employees of Boeing and their relatives, but within the last couple of years they changed to now having membership open to all Washington state residents. When I lived in Bellingham, even though they don't have a branch, you can make deposits at a credit union there, and it will post to BECU for you. It's great. This branch is very big. Many tellers, many loan processors, etc. If you are looking to be treated like a valuable customer (you are one), check out BECU. read more

I was just in becu to get a personal loan for my tuition. I waited for over an hour to be seen. The lady that helped me was absolutely terrible. First of all i dont know anything about loans and what my opions were i just want to go to school. The lady treated me like crap she made me feel extremely stupid she was not friendly or engaging i had no idea what she was doing on the computer her math was horrible. She couldn't even see well enough to read my address on my id. I was absolutely in shock of how bad her customer service was. Ive always heard great things about becu but my experience was horrible. We have been a BECU customer for over 20 years, a great place to do your day to day banking and even purchase a car, however they are REAL BAD at building construction loans---------Don't bother wasting your time or your hard earned money. Filled out the paper work paid my upfront money, under writing bounced my contractor, BECU didn't provide a reason to us nor our contractor, they wouldn't discuss how we could resolve the issue. Just waited an hour and a half to talk to someone so I could sign for my car loan. Every time I come here even if it just for a teller it's an hour long process. The point of joining a local credit union is for better customer service but man becu is the worst I have dealt with since bank of America. But I never had to wait this long at any bank. read more

I'm happy finally be a BECU customer I've been here so many times, on behalf of my family but never for myself except like twice. On this particular day I was stressed because I had a money order that I wrote on and was questioning if I could possibly cash it even know there was writing on it. They were able to assist me in depositing the money into my checking and I am extremely grateful. After 2 places told me know I was a little worried but they took care of me. I like how they don't have any fees either I'm almost tempted to leave BOA but I kind of like having 2 checking accounts. I'm hoping to asked for help rebuilding my credit which is a service they offer as well. Today was a fast visit in and out but the only reason they're getting a 4 is because they are paaaaaaaaaaacked in the morning i waited for 30 minutes to see a banker :( totally worth it though the customer service was amazing. :) read more

I have been banking with them since 2002, I have always been able to call and have a teller look up recent deposits for my business over the phone. Today I was lucky enough to get Alan on the phone. Rather then look up the 4 deposits over the phone he refused to do that for me and insisted the only way was by fax or snail mail. I asked him when BECU changed their policy on this he assured me they did not. I explained to him that in 18 years this had NEVER happened to me, then I went on to explain how inefficient he is being getting another department involved wasting a bunch of paper and paying for postage (I do not have a fax it's 2020) then I have to wait 3-5 days then drive to the post office box where I receive my mail wasting fuel to get there. This is during the Covid-19 outbreak so now he is putting people at risk. He gave me a ticket number for the order and as soon as I got off the phone with him I called BECU back and got Kristina on the phone, she gave me the deposit information I needed and was very nice! We need more Kristina's in this world and less Alans. read more

My husband and I applied for and received a loan in 2010. We also purchased life insurance. In June of this year my husband died. I went to this BECU location and was told I would need to pay the June payment but the balance would be paid in full. I made the June payment and left feeling relieved the balance would be taken care of. Two days later I received a letter from CUNA. Tthe claim was denied because my husband had turned 65 three months earlier. I called BECU and complained about the misleading information. I believe BECU should payoff the loan as I was told by their employee. Supervisors have apologized for the error and said they do not stand behind their employees when the make a mistake. I then asked for the name of BECU's liability insurance company. BECU supervisors have stated only BECU can file claims, not members. They refuse to give me the information. BECU claims to support the community. I am the widow of a 100% disabled Vietnam veteran. Why doesn't BECU care about me and follow through with what their employee told me? read more

This location has had a consistently polite staff over the years. Try to avoid going in on the 15th when all the procrastinators show up to pay their LOC payments on the last day due. On the 15th or the Friday before if it falls on a weekend the lines go out the door almost and wait times are sometimes 20 minutes. I can't really blame the Bank for the "stupid people stampede" but they certainly do a good job trying to accommodate with extra staff. Regardless they are great! read more

DONT" DO BUSINESS WITH- If you do your banking with BECU do not get any loans thru them. If you have illness or are laid off they are viscious. They will pull all the payments right out of checking without letting you know and important things like insurance and Dr. Payments will bounce. I called them because my wife has cancer and needs expensive treatments and they said they don't care. They pulled a 2nd mortgage payment and now I can't afford to pay for the alternative care for my wife. She may not make it because of them. Do not get loans with these people. They are on you like a fly if you miss a payment and as I said they collectors don't give a darn. All my other loans thru other companies were sympathetic and alterered my payments. Had an insurance on my house. Insurance company included BECU on the check. BECU could not have made it more difficult. First they request to much documentation to process and use a company in North Carolina to process it. It to them 8 weeks to get my money to pay my contractor to do the work. I have been a memeber with BECU for 15+ years. Always paid my bills on time, have never had my account go into negative standing. I apply for a small extension to my line of credit with them so I can make some minor repairs to my house before I list it for sale and they deny me. 15+ years as a loyal member, and apparently that counts for nothing. I find that very insulting. As soon as I sell the house I will be paying off my line of credit and closing all my accounts with BECU. I would advise against opening an account with them. They care about your money, not about YOU. read more

Wow, worst bank ever! I had heard good things about BECU and everyone seems to think that credit unions have better rates, etc, so I gave it a shot. I opened a secondary account here to use to organize medical expenses for my kids, thinking I could also do my own banking there if I saw good perks. Um, good rates?!? Their mortgage rates are mediocre, and the small broker I use has beaten their rates by a long shot the last FOUR times I've compared rates (three home purchases and one re-fi). It is also totally inconvenient- only ONE location in Everett, and is it downtown? No, try South Everett. Then there is the INHUMANELY LONG wait time every time you have to bank there. Today I waited 30 MINUTES to see someone and ended up just closing my account because I was so fed up. First a long line to get to the customer service people, and then they route you into another long waiting area. I had my three year old with me who was losing it, and all of their waiting room toys were broken. Did they offer to accommodate someone with a small child more quickly? NO. So unimpressed. Account closed today, and I will never return. read more

I opened a new account recently at the Everett branch of BECU. I moved to the area several years ago and had kept my banking in the credit union associated with my former employer. BECU was affiliated so I was familiar with both credit unions and had used their facility for my transactions. The lightbulb went on and I decided to join in my neighborhood! Paula was awesome in helping me accomplish opening an account, securing a line of credit and opening a credit card account. She answered all of my questions having the information I needed. The experience was very positive...she even walked me to the auto teller machines and guided me through depositing my checks! I recommend this BECU without reservation. Thank you! read more

The customer service has gone way down hill - from their awful automated phone system (not the people) to arrogant and unresponsive management and execs, to individual service providers (think mortgage specialists) who don't return calls in what anyone would consider a timely manner. Not recommended for independent contractors of small business owners. We have held our personal account here for over 15 years. We unknowingly accepted a couple of bad checks from customers. BECU did not communicate that there was a problem with our account. They just disabled our check-cards and shut us out of online banking. We had no idea what was going on, until we called into the bank. They put on hold multiple times, once for 36 min. Then they come back with a very accusatory tone, saying we are check kiting. So, if you (as a small bus owner) deposit a check from a customer and it bounces, get ready to be treated like a criminal by this bank. This could easily be resolved if, as a bank customer, you could speak to the SAME customer service person each time. Instead you are spending hours explaining your situation over and over again to a new person each time (not so "community" afterall).... Additionally, when CASH is deposited promptly to cover a bad check that you unknowingly accepted, BECU holds the cash...they have held our current cash deposit (2K) for 5 days now. No use in calling, just get a new person, who doesn't know you, who you have to explain you r situation to all over again, and then they will come back (after putting you on hold forever) to accuse you of something bad. This is not a relationship. This is not good customer service. This bank only works if works for banking customers whose employers are for a large corp with steady direct deposits. This bank is not smart enough to work with small business owners. (For ref. 2 customers checks bounced in 15 year span of time, both covered by cash deposits once BECU unfroze our account that is NOT kiting). Their fraud department is way off base. They should look at an account history, they should look at communication threads before accusing loyal customers. See ya! read more

The appraisal by becu on my home was very bad....comp properties not all all comparable ..plus only had I bath listed when it had 2.5 also said kitchen need updated......look again new quartz countertop undermout sink new ss gas range and wall vent hood and new ss ref what more could you asks for. The appraiser WAS NOT at all doing his job if he made so many mistakes. How can one person have so much power. I don,t get it. The rules need to be looked at . Very dissipointed! Not a military friendly bank... My Service members civil relief act was denied. I'm currently deployed, and yet BECU still wouldn't drop my credit card APR to 6%. The account was open prior to joining (which is a requirement). I've been banking with BECU for over 5 years, and I have nothing to show for it. I recently opened a credit card account thru USAA, and not only did they drop my APR to 4% (which is lower than what they relief act states) but they also refunded me the difference in interest. It's sad that as an active duty member you have to argue with a BECU employee about one of your own benefits. read more

We had third poor experience with this BECU branch. We applied for a refinance. Our experience with them as happened previously, they drop the ball and we have to call and call to keep the process going (weeks and months go by). The same goes with our car loan...we applied then 2 months later had heard nothing..had to call. With the refi they didnt come appraise our home..they looked at local sales, which didn't not account for the upgrades we have done to our home..very low ball..because the process took so long..they pulled our credit more than once, which went against us too. After leaving a bank we were members at for 25 years, we've been nothing but disappointed with the service and loan process here. read more

BECU did a great job with our home loan, so much so that we thought we'd move some of our other accounts over to the credit union. However, our first inkling of their customer service (or lack of it) was when we opened a savings account. We had to wait 30 minutes to see a representative then had to stand in line with the rep as she deposited our check into the automated teller machine. We opted not to move our other accounts. Fast forward a few years. We are ready to move some money into a CD. A LOT of money. We decide to go to the Everett BECU financial center. It's Saturday morning, just after they open. The woman at the counter says it will be a 25 minute wait. There are five people ahead of us. We squish onto the uncomfortable ottoman stools with everyone else. No one offers us coffee or tea. Twenty minutes later I look at my husband and say, "What are we doing? This is like the DMV. Why are we waiting to give them our money?" We leave. We go to Home Street Bank not far away, where we are welcomed, offered a hot beverage, and made to feel like valued customers. I want to like BECU, I really do (my dad was a Boeing engineer for 40 years), but they sure do make it a challenge. Sigh. read more

I have banked with BECU for about 26 years. Through cars loans, multiple home loans, savings, checking, crediit cards, etc., it has been an outstanding experience. Others detailed the lack of petty fees, so I will add my favorite bit is that you can always get someone on the phone - a real, live person - when you need help. read more

My experience with BECU has always been pleasant and enjoyable. This quickly ended though after i applied for a personal loan. The branch reps are awesome, the group that answers phones for the underwriters though is awfully disconnected and under involved. I was told that it would be a 3-4 day process. We're now going on day 7, and I've been informed that it will be at least another 3-4 days, and most likely another 5-7. During the entire process i have been informed 6 times that i would have resolution/decision within 2hrs, 7 times that i would be called with said decision, and can only get broken info from the 17 people now that i have had to speak to because of lost notes, or further info needed. I have received 2 calls the entire process, and those were from branch reps embarrassed by the other teams. Please do not send approval letters, and then request another additional set of documents before anything else can be processed. Wait until the process is done, horribly misleading. Their dispersal policy is also misleading. I do understand that things take time, but there is zero communication from these teams. Please DO what you tell a customer you will do. Again, the branch reps are awesome!!!! Loan teams need some serious attention. read more

BECU refused to add me to my "new" husbands' account. Reason: lack of established credit. So now that I'm married, there is no credit history with my new name either. Talk about a "CATCH 22". I have called BECU multiple times to ask a simple question. I just want to know if they are open today as opposed to driving all the way over there and finding out they are closed.
