OMG!! I arrived in Manhattan from Cancun and was starving for Soul food. My Foodie friend recommended Bed Stuy Fish Fry in Brooklyn. I hopped on the train to their downtown Brooklyn location and was surprised they didn't have sit down dining. No worries though I was told there was a special through Uber, buy one meal get one free. You know I love a deal. I ordered Oxtails w/rice & peas and collard greens. But wait there's more I was able to order Baked Mac & cheese with Candied Yams all for the price of one meal. The oxtails were tender, Baked Mac & cheese was cheesy, greens were not cooked with pork and were delicious. I had enough food for 3 days!! I definitely will return to Bed Stuy Fish Fry when I return to NYC. Sorry I wasted no time on the Oxtails and forgot to take a picture

This Bed-Stuy Fish Fry is the best of the bunch in my opinion. Go when it first opens. Food is super hot, well seasoned and delicious. This is a business district and I believe the chefs here go the extra mile with their food preparation to serve the famished City Employees. The staff is almost pleasant, might I say, nearly nice. Today I ordered pickup online- a BOGO order of salmon and shrimp bites over fried rice. I got there early and I was tempted to add to my order because all the dishes looked sooo good. I ended up getting an order of the crab cakes. These crab cakes are perfectly made with REAL lump crab meat and they're big! I could eat here for lunch every day. Looks like take out only for now. Good stuff!

    Spilled food

Food packaging is very poor that cause food to spill during delivery. Uber delivery guys are horrible. They take absolutely no care I'm transporting your food . They treat your food as if it's garbage they were handling. Very dissatisfied and will probably never use this service especially at this location again.

Ordered the oxtail plate to-go. It comes with two sides and I got the rice & peas and cabbage. The oxtail plate came with 4 pieces of oxtail, but they were big and had a lot of meat on them. I would like that the fat was more trimmed on the tails. The gravy had a great flavor! I would have wanted some gravy on the rice. The cabbage cooked perfectly (not too soft). I enjoyed the meal and would definitely eat it again. I also tried the greens on my hubbie's plate and those were really good. I actually liked the collard greens more than the cabbage, but can't go wrong with either.

PROS: service was great-wonderful attentive team, easy location to get to; salmon was light/medium seasoned which was perfect, mac/cheese wasn't overly cheesy & you could taste the black pepper, it was good as was the spinach. The star of the show was the "old fashioned" banana pudding. It was the best tasting item. It wasn't just "pudding" with vanilla wafers. It seems as though it was combined cake & pudding. I loved it! It was true old fashioned banana pudding. CONS (kinda): some of the food items were barely hot, chicken tasted satisfactory (would have been better if hot). The black-eyed peas were so-so, it seems as though they had a touch of sugar (threw the taste off). The sweet potato cornbread... great concept but it was too sweet. It has small chunks of sweet potato & corn kernels. Overall, good restaurant. I'd go back but some items I probably wouldn't get again.

Absolutely delicious food! I've been here a few times over the course of the past couple of months. There's so many great options to choose from. I thoroughly enjoyed the salmon, oxtail, crab cakes, fried shrimp, and whiting for entrée items. As far as the sides are concerned, I've indulged in the candied yams, cabbage, mac and cheese, potatoe salad, macaroni salad, and mashed potatoes. Even the blue velvet cake was incredible. Can't wait to come back here for the salmon, shrimp, and wings for entrées. It's important to be patient when ordering here due to short staff. Also, note that you're likely to spend a minimum of $20 when coming to eat here. This is a takeout restaurant, do not expect to come here and dine in; that's not an option.

Hard, dry, Fish, Not Edible At All

I don't understand why restaurants feel it is okay to serve people anything and the customer is just suppose to accept what they are served. If you are going to serve customers fish then please have the decency to serve the fish fresh and hot not some fish you cooked 3 hours ago and have it sitting under a heated lamp. Contrary to what you may believe fish fries out and that means it is hard and not edible. This is not the first time I had issues with this location.

I was walking by and smelled the delicious seafood. I walked into a very clean and brightly lid restaurant. In terms of seafood, they mostly offered salmon. A salmon plate - a sizable piece with two sides is $35 and fried catfish plate - two pieces with two sides is $16. I echo everyone here who has said it's overpriced. It doesn't help that they don't have a menu with prices anywhere in the store. I got the crab cake plate - two cakes with two sides. The crab cake fit completely into a wide spoon. They were real lumps of crab meats. After tax and cash discount charge, it was a bit over $30.

Ordered from here recently due to my coworkers raving about this location. Upon arrival, the bag was sealed fine tight and there wasn't any spillage and the condiments I requested were inside. I ordered Grilled Salmon on Fettuccine. Now for my thoughts on the food. I was craving this all day and I immediately dived in. The portion size is a bit smaller size than what I envisioned. The food was pretty decent. The salmon was a bit dry and the flavors didn't stick out too much to me. The pasta was pretty good to me. The noodles were cooked fine and weren't chewy. I was a bit disappointed. Perhaps I got it on a bad day, I'm not too sure. If the portions were increased and the Salmon preparation changed; this dish would've been bomb!

Turkey Meatloaf Platter with Candied Yams & Cabbage

I must say this is the best Bed-Stuy Fish Fry location, but they do have some hits and misses. My rating is really 3 1/2 stars, but what they're good at is always good so I gave the 4 stars. Thanks to UberEats I able to enjoy their food and the great deals. I've tried to get different varieties of food off the menu, but I think I'll stick to what I know and stop exploring. My favorites are: the salmon (blackened and grilled), turkey meatloaf, salmon cakes, crab cakes (so full of lump crab no fillers) shrimp (any style) and catfish fritters Favorite sides: mashed potatoes (they are always consistently good), candied yams, cabbage, rice and peas and sautéed spinach. Dessert: Blue Velvet Cake My not so favorites: baked chicken ‍ (the palest unseasoned dry chicken); stir fry potatoes ( not sure how to describe it, but it's not what I expected). Asparagus was cut up and over cooked. The lemon cake came warm because they put it directly on my hot food, my frosting was melted and it was super sweet and the cake was not moist it had a weird consistency. All in all I love this place, I just know to stick to what I like and not venture to far from that.

    Soul food

I visited this takeout-only soul food spot, which serves cafeteria-style. While I enjoy the food, the service leaves much to be desired--staff can be rude and argumentative. Unfortunately, the experience isn't always worth the frustration.

Do yourself a favor and please go here! The food is always so fresh and so flavorful. The chicken is cooked perfectly; moist and juicy! Genuine soul food that makes you feel all good and warm inside, comforting! The side items are OMG good, they all taste homemade. I honestly cannot say enough great things about their food. Nicely sized portions too. Some of the best Mac and Cheese I've ever tasted. I have only ordered delivery so not to familiar with the service but I have heard great things. BOGO meals on Uber eats! Great location if you are working or shopping in Downtown BK. You will not be disappointed.

I had the pleasure of meeting Sage and she gave me the story of the business. Please go out and support small businesses, especially women owned, minority businesses. I will say that the man, who was working with them is the nicest guy in the world. Now on to the food. This hot lobster roll with butter and Thai seafood sauce was on point! I am not a fan of mayo but I am sure that the garlic mayo takes this lobster roll to another level. Normally I only like my lobster roll with melted butter but the Thai seafood sauce gave it this citrusy , slightly tangy flavor that went well with the lobster. And the lobster roll itself is just beautiful. (I tend to eat with my eyes. Lol) I was truly craving a lobster roll and I am so glad that you all were there. I have never had fried basa, but it was prepared to perfection. I really loved the batter, and the fish was not over seasoned.
