Let's get into it... they offer a buy one get one deal in Uber and the staff will suggest it to you, which is honestly a good deal. I did not get names but the younger fair skin lady with glasses was the most helpful and another older lady who was probably an owner/partner/manager. There was another younger woman around with braids and glasses that needed a little more customer service training. Her name may be Sharisse or something like that. Food wise.... I had the oxtail cheesesteak. Like other reviews, the fat needs to be trimmed more but they are quite tender. However, I doubt I try it again. For the sides, I was able to taste the Mac and cheese, candied yams, black eyed peas, and greens. That's the order in which the taste is decent. The Mac isn't quite a creamy Mac, it's definitely baked which is cool. The yams were good, just heavily sugared. The black eyed peas were okay but they were lukewarm. And the greens were a miss, I prefer a bit more heat/spice on mine and these had bitter and sweet mixed together. Lastly, I tried the banana pudding and the kool aid. Kool aid was like church punch if that's your thing and the banana pudding was thick. I'm a dessert guy and I maybe only ate a third of it. Overall, it's clean and chill. This Bed-Stuy Fish Fry is the best of the bunch in my opinion. Go when it first opens. Food is super hot, well seasoned and delicious. This is a business district and I believe the chefs here go the extra mile with their food preparation to serve the famished City Employees. The staff is almost pleasant, might I say, nearly nice. On Friday, I was having my family over and they wanted to try Bed Stuy Fish Fry. In total, we placed 5 orders along with desserts, costing roughly $160. I ordered my food and went to pick it up. Upon walking in, there was one person also waiting and two delivery guys. I waited about 10 minutes before asking if someone would be assisting with pick-up orders because no one had acknowledged any of us since I walked in. There were three workers--one literally looked me in the face while the other two kept their heads down preparing food. I then said, "One of the workers literally looked in my face, but no one is going to answer?" The disrespect and unprofessionalism were out of this world. A simple "We'll be right with you" goes a long way. About 2-3 minutes later, someone finally walked over and handed me my order, which had already been ready. A worker did apologize, but I honestly don't know if it was for the rudeness displayed or because I had to choose another dessert since they didn't have the one I originally ordered. While waiting for my ride, I saw three ladies walk in. About five minutes later, they walked out, and one of them said, "They really have a nasty attitude." Smh. I was with my mother, and she went inside as well--she heard that same comment about the bad attitude, and we had our own poor customer service experience. My mother also mentioned that when she approached the register, the person barely spoke. As I said at the beginning of this review, the food is really good--we even tried a new dessert, the "sweet potato cornbread," which was delicious. However, the customer service truly needs improvement. A simple "hello," acknowledging customers waiting, and saying "thank you" makes all the difference. I would like that the fat was more trimmed on the tails. The gravy had a great flavor! I would have wanted some gravy on the rice. The cabbage cooked perfectly (not too soft). Absolutely delicious food! I've been here a few times over the course of the past couple of months. There's so many great options to choose from. I thoroughly enjoyed the salmon, oxtail, crab cakes, fried shrimp, and whiting for entrée items. As far as the sides are concerned, I've indulged in the candied yams, cabbage, mac and cheese, potatoe salad, macaroni salad, and mashed potatoes. Even the blue velvet cake was incredible. One of my faves! I'm a regular at this location. It's close to work and I go there for lunch & office parties. Reasonable prices & decent portions! The staff are always nice & friendly! The spot is always popping, music is on point & customers line up from the register to the door. A gem in the neighborhood & a must try! They have vegan choices too, so it's a win win for all.
