We ordered several different dishes so we could mix and match our dinner. Had the oxtail, beef ribs, and turkey wings for our meats. For the sides, we had mac n cheese, cabbage, potato salad, and white rice. All the meats were delicious, very different taste than what I'm used to and I loved it. The ribs sauce had a sweetness to it. I didn't enjoy the cabbage or potato salad, which is why I gave a 4. but the mac n cheese was amazing. The ladies at the counter were super nice and welcoming.

Had this for lunch the other day after a co worker of mine gave me the Salmon Croquettes (which are amazing). When ordering on seamless, I ordered Salmon, Macaroni Salad and Collard Greens. Now what I got, wasn't that, I actually got Marconi & Cheese, which I originally wanted. The meal came packed well and it was warm. Now onto the food: the Salmon was the best part, then the greens and then the Mac. The mac was just missing something. Overall I would go back for the Salmon and the Salmon Croquettes (this was really good and I only had one !) I would give this meal a 3.5/5

The only thing that stop this from getting a 5 star was the price. $18-20 for this and a drink is too high but I guess since its located downtown brooklyn, its comparable to nearby prices. Service was great. Ladies behind the counter were very welcoming and nice ! Food, super heft and super delicious. This is Black American Soul Food. Not Caribbean or anything else FYI. The food was delicious, I got the ribs which were smothered and taste better than oxtails. The mac n cheese was mac n cheesing + with gravy from ribs yummm Green was calm I wish it had some hamhocks or turkey legs in it ! Small restaurants about 3 tables and chair for those who want to sit down and eat

Very creamy and flavorful mac n cheese!

My first time ordering from here for delivery. I got a meatloaf lunch special with 2 sides; mashed potatoes and green beans. I also ordered a peach cobbler but I'm assuming they were out of it because it was refunded to me before my order arrived. I was so looking forward to it but I will try another dessert next time. The meatloaf was moist and had good flavor although I do think the sauce was very barbecue-like but that didn't make it bad, just not my preference. Mashed potatoes were creamy, green beans had good flavor & they gave me a side piece of cornbread as well. I also got a lunch special of mac n cheese as it was not available as a side choice for the lunch specials. That was annoying BUT I'm so glad it was so good and creamy as its own side because I wanted ALL of it! Just do it. YOURE GONNA LOVE IT. The portion was extremely hearty for all, and for New York I think the price was fair. Will definitely order from here again and work my way through the menu.

The Soul Spot catered day 4 of our film sets lunch and OH MY GOD... IT WAS BEAUTIFUL. Exactly what we needed for lunch after many days of filming. Everything was delicious but my favorites were the jerk chicken, the mac and cheese and the cornbread. The veggies were also so yummy!!!! Thank you so much soul spot I will definitely be going in person soon

Deliciousness, a hefty meal at that, all for a great price. So happy when I found out there was a HALAL option for soul food Love everything we tried here, and want to come back more to try other meat dishes and sides. The only issue is that it is soooo filling you literally need to come with an empty stomach or else u got leftovers for days. Every meal comes with a free small slice of cornbread (it's alright but hey it's not the star of the show). The Mac and cheese here tho y'all?? Soooo good. I need a whole container of just that. Jollof rice is great too, all the spices come together in perfect balance, just wish the rice was a tad bit softer, felt a bit cold. Yams were good, but wish there was a little less of it and more of the Mac and cheese as it can get you full very quickly. Ribs were excellent, not too much bone, and also the meat was so tender it was literally falling off. The gravy from the ribs mixed with the sides is sooo good. The jerk chicken is the spiciest meat option they have and it's not actually spicy but really good nonetheless. A bit dry so wish they had some kind of sauce that comes with it. They also sell desserts (which we didn't get to try) and drinks ($2 each - lemonade, a punch?, and sweet tea). Lemonade (freshly squeezed) was a bit too tart for me, I usually like it sweeter, but good regardless. Staff here are very accommodating and friendly and helped us choose what to order Lots of people constantly coming and going (that's how you know it's good) and also heard that a couple of the patrons coming in were regulars (and that was just within the hour or so we were there!). It's mostly a get your food and go kinda spot but there's 2 small tables inside and some smaller tables and chairs outside if you wish to dine in. Great establishment and so happy to see more diversity in halal options (you chicken and burger shops I'm looking at you)

The waitress was super professional and gave us suggestions from the menu items. She suggested the Peaches Punch (rum and positive vibes) and she did not disappoint. Peaches Punch was sweet and citrus. My fam is southern, migrated from North Carolina to Brooklyn, so I am not a stranger to southern food. My mother was a sou cook in a small water front hotel on the intercostal waterway, so I confess I am a chair side critic of collard greens. I do not like collards simmered too sweet. I also like to add vinegar. So we ordered the fried catfish, cornbread, and collard greens. The catfish arrived seasoned and crispy. I added a dash of Texas Petes hot sauce, they seriously offer a variety of hot sauce. Love it. The collard greens were inviting, aromatic, and tender. The smell of the collards reminded me of Sunday dinner after training. Yes, it tasted old school, I greatly appreciated the southern vibe and the great southern hospitality. The main entrées were affordable and the drinks were worth every penny. This is within walking distance from my home. I will definitely return for collard greens. Please make a date to sit out on the sidewalk and order those collards.

During a recent breakfast visit celebrating both my mother's birthday, I had a disappointing customer service experience. I would first like to recognize the young gentleman who served our table . A mexican young man. , He was professional, attentive, and courteous throughout our visit. The issue arose when I ordered a Peach Bellini that did not taste as expected. It lacked the peach flavor I had enjoyed on previous visits and tasted more like orange juice. I asked if it could be replaced with a ginger ale. My server was handling another table and zi was willing to wait. . But a women of Spanish decent light skin and heavy set approached our table and explained there were policies regarding returning something. . Rather than simply processing the substitution, she repeatedly encouraged me to keep the drink and offered to add more peach flavoring. I explained several times that I simply did not like the beverage and preferred a ginger ale instead.. I also told her I an celebrating a birthday abd do not wish to go back and forth. She tried to explain all drinks are made thd same which is not the same. She has to remember she does not just represent herself but the Peaches establishment. As a former bartender, I understand that drinks can vary, despite efforts at consistency. My concern was not the drink itself but the lengthy discussion. I felt pressured to justify a simple request during what was meant to be a special celebration Our bill exceeded $100, and as a longtime customer, I expected a more customer-focused response. If there is a formal policy regarding drink returns or exchanges, it would be helpful for it to be clearly posted. They eventually substituted it. But I should not have to goI though all that. Overall, my experiences at your restaurant have been very positive, which is why this incident stood out. The food was excellent, and our server was wonderful. I hope this feedback can be used as a coaching opportunity. Customer concerns are often best resolved through listening, empathy, and flexibility. .

So..... we went and totally understand the hype. As soon as you walk in, you can smell the amazing dishes and you can literally feel the love they put on each plate as they serve the guests. I almost don't want to share this review for fear that the line may get longer but this restaurant is now one of the few that I recommend you go out of your way to try and enjoy. Their menu is classically simple but made with an abundance of care and no shortcuts in their cooking. As you are seated you are welcome to place your order in the front of the glass display, they cook everything in house and sometimes they run out of the specials so don't sleep on getting there on time. We ended up getting their lunch specials and picked one main and two sides. I know my girl loves Ox Tails and ended up getting the last plate with some candied yams and Mac and cheese. Don't come here if you're on a diet there is only one way to enjoy this restaurant and it's to just dive in. FYI - you will need a nap after your meal. I wanted to love it so much especially since TikTok critic/MMA fighter Keith Lee visited them in 2023, but my experience was not like his. I want to say that online reviews are almost about accurate. They were out of cold salads and collard greens which was an issue for other customers at times as well. No problem, they were super helpful and offered an alternative but not a good one. I had steamed vegetables that mashed in my mouth like mashed potatoes when I took a bite. I did end up going to another spot for collard greens and potato salad because you can't have soul-food without that. I had the rib dinner with mac n cheese and yams and a tiny piece of complimentary cornbread. The ribs definitely taste amazing but they don't take off the membrane in the back which is slimy and gross. I left that part behind. The yams were sweet and good BUT.....that mac n cheese is NOT soul-food Mac n cheese. Here's the thing I figured out, they use such little cheese but season the noodles very well that you don't truly notice unless you love mac n cheese, which I do, so I noticed it lacked so much cheese but had seasoned noodles. The rib dinner was a 3/5 because ribs were great but sides needed help. I had rice and peas as an additional side and fried wings. The wings were ATROCIOUS! I ate the smallest one and didn't eat the rest. How can you serve such huge feathered wings like that? It was a nightmare. The feathers being on it turned me off. This tells me they don't make their food with care, they move quick to be one and done and I want my food cooked with love and care. They were also frozen wings that were thawed and seasoned, I know the difference. The rice and peas were okay 3/5 as well. Overall the food was not worth the hype. Customer service was beautiful for sure but the food was not it.

One thing I cannot stand about restaurants or food trucks is having a large menu that you cannot…read moreconsistently deliver. If you have 10, 15, or 20 items on the menu but most of them are unavailable, what's the point? That pretty much describes my experience with Harlem Seafood Soul. I've driven past this food truck many times while operating the M60 and finally decided to stop and give it a try. Looking at the menu online, I was excited. Catfish, whiting, mac and cheese, collard greens, shrimp and grits, and other soul food favorites all sounded amazing. The problem came when I arrived around 1:30 in the afternoon. I wanted catfish. Sold out. I wanted whiting. Sold out. I wanted mac and cheese. Sold out. I wanted collard greens. Sold out. At that point, most of the options available were shrimp dishes. For a place called Harlem Seafood Soul, I expected more of the soul food menu to still be available in the middle of the day. If items are regularly selling out that early, then either more food needs to be prepared or the menu needs to better reflect what's realistically available. Another thing that surprised me is that I've visited other food trucks and carts that have been featured on TV shows, and many of them have an app, online ordering, or some way to place an order ahead of time. Where do you order Harlem Seafood Soul from? If I'm spending over $30 for lunch, I'd like the option to place my order in advance and have it ready when I arrive. To be fair, the wait wasn't long, and my frustration isn't with the people working there. Everything looked good, and I'm still planning to try the shrimp and grits. My issue is with availability. It's hard to get excited about menu items that aren't there when you arrive. I love supporting Black-owned businesses, and I want Harlem Seafood Soul to succeed. That's exactly why I'm leaving this review. The food sounds delicious, but you've got to do better with keeping your signature menu items available. Customers shouldn't have to arrive before lunchtime is over to have a chance at ordering them. This visit felt like a disappointment. Honestly, I'm not even sure if I want to give it another try. When a menu gets you excited and then most of what you came for isn't available, it leaves a bad first impression.

First of all, disregard any ratings that are less that 4 stars, for those whom rated this place…read morelower than that obviously have no idea what soul food is supposed to taste like. Now that we have that out of the way, on to my review. Upon entering this magical place, I was greeted by a lovely woman behind the counter named Pat, whom is part owner and the wife of the chef. She politely asked me if I had ever been there before, to which I replied, no. Before I could even get that one syllable word out of my mouth, she had already prepared me several samples of what would later become my dinner. Mac and cheese. perfectly prepared macaroni (not mushy) enveloped in Rich and creamy cheese (not saucy or soupy at all) It was if the macaroni and the cheese had combined to become one, glorious, velvety smooth creation whose both flavor and texture were near heavenly. Beef Short ribs. Masculine chunks of slowly cooked beef that is fatty and rich, falling off the bone. (no fork necessary) Stewed in its own natural juices, along with some other secret ingredients I'm sure. The meat is soft and tender and requires little chewing if any. Goes very well with the collard greens Collard Greens: A delightful and hearty stewed green that I am almost certain is made with some kind of pork fat (pork fat = awesome). Both savory and sweet, these green are a great accompaniment to any of the main dishes. Oxtail: for those of you whom are unfamiliar, this is exactly what it sounds like. The meat on the tail. It is very bony, but when cooked right (as they do here), it is soft and creamy, and it full of flavor. The correct way to eat oxtail, is pick it up with your fingers, and suck the meat off the bone. Jerk Chicken. This might have been my favorite. The chicken itself, is most likely cooked on a grill first. The skin is crispy, snaps when you bite it, and is rubbed with a medley of jerk seasoning that is very intense. The meat itself, is moist, tender and can be peeled off with your fingers. Ask for a side of jerk sauce for dipping. Corn Bread. This is complimentary, but do not dismiss it. It is soft and moist, with flavors of honey and maple syrup. It is a perfect sweet to complement all that savory. As that was all the samples, I was able to stuff down my gullet, I will conclude my review by saying, if you want soul food, and you are in New York proper, then go to Soul Food Kitchen. The best Soul Food Spot in Brooklyn for take-out, hands down! I love their Fried Chicken and Barbeque Chicken breasts! The fried chicken is well seasoned, crispy on the outside and tender/juicy on the inside. The Barbeque chicken is also tasty, juicy and glazed with with thick sticky bbq sauce. The mac n cheese is always deliciously cheesy and the candied yams are candied to perfection of course!! Authentic Southern food. Yumm! Oh how can i forget their cornbread! The cornbread is always moist, with a hint of sweetness. The staff is always friendly and pleasant too.. SOUL FOOD HEAVEN!!
