Here's what I'd heard about this place: "Lots of beers on tap, lots of board games, and happy hour lasts till 8!" True? Well... kinda. But the beers on tap include things like PBR. Now don't get me wrong, I ride my bike and wear thick-framed glasses and generally enjoy the hipster lifestyle, including an occasional PBR. But when I hear "lots of beers on tap"... that's not really what I'm looking for. A few board games. It costs $2 to rent them. And there really aren't a lot of tables at which to play them. At least... tables far enough from the pool tables so you're not afraid of getting stabbed in the stomach by an errant pool cue. Talk about danger. It's in a basement, so it's one of those casino-type bars where you have no idea if it's light or dark or whether time is passing... and the bartender was pretty rude to me and one of my friends when we were trying to do something so apparently annoying as... purchasing a beer. So yeah... lamesies. read more

I want to like this place. I really do. It's close to my house, I like the atmosphere, their beer selection, everything; however, I am yet to have a pleasant interaction with a member of their staff. I called a few nights ago to ask how their pool table situation works, all to be hung up on. My friend and I went anyway because we wanted to shoot some pool and check it out. Bartender acted extremely inconvenienced by taking our beer orders. Asked him personally how the pool system worked "Well, considering you two aren't members of the league you won't be playing tonight." OK!!!!!! I GET IT!!!! It's not that hard to be friendly to people. Was thinking of encouraging friends to come here for a happy hour or something after work one day, but no way in hell that's happening. I feel like I need to update my review since I wrote the first one soon after moving here and my experience of Bedrock has changed considerably. Even though Bedrock is definitely the closest bar to my house, we initially pretty much ignored it. On a whim we went here for trivia and basically became immediate regulars. Bedrock definitely caters to its regulars, and there's a high chance you won't feel loved if you come in with a loud group of people who've never been here before. But come a time or two and don't act like an AdMo douchebag, and the bartenders will have your drink on the bar as soon as you walk in the door. Bedrock has a great beer list even for beer snobs, tons of games and a few big screens for sports, and offers an AdMo scene that's totally different from the 18th Street mayhem. Trivia starts at 8 on Sunday with a few weekly hosts as well as new ones rotating through, and it's always a good time. Oh, and happy hour prices go until 8, even on the weekends- what more could you want? read more

Chill spot for some billiards! And "chill" is not a word I'd use to describe most of the establishments in Adams Morgan. They offer pool, shuffleboard, foosball, board games, and darts for reasonable prices, and unless you're there on the peak of a weekend night, wait times typically aren't bad. Excellent beer selection also. They always cycle in seasonal taps. And the staff is awesome! Become a regular here, and they treat you like gold. Even if you're not a regular, though, the bartenders are great, and you're gonna get the best service in all of Adams Morgan (and possibly even DC)! read more

I've only been once for the trivia night, so my review is based only on that. To say that trivia night at Bedrock Billiards is a shit show is an understatement. The trivia hosts do not have a microphone or speaker system to read the questions, so they stand at the bar and scream the questions out to the players, who huddle around the bar trying to hear. But this is a big bar, and there are people playing pool and talking, and there is music playing (why not turn the music off during trivia??), so you cannot hear the questions unless you have secured one of about 8 seats at the bar. Since the hosts are aware that no one can hear them, after reading a round of questions, they circulate around the bar to all of the teams and individually reread questions the team didn't hear. This grossly inefficient system makes each round take a very long time. There clearly is a speaker system in the bar, and the trivia hosts even hooked up an ipod to it for the audio round, so there is clearly a way they could also hook up a microphone to the same system. If that is not a possibility, then please spend $40 and buy a portable mic/speaker to use for trivia. Our group was so disappointed by the trivia night that we left after the third round. To avoid cabin fever from the snow storms we headed out to bedrock billiards. It's in the basement near Napoleon and Perry's etc. It was dark in general with lots of large flat screen TVs, pool tables, shuffle board, dart boards and event a Wii but I didnt see anyone playing it. It was empty when we first got there but gradully it filled up. There was a good happy hour with some cheaper beer selection so we all ended up having sierra nevada. The pool table was rated $12 for 2 people per hour which was kinda expensive. It was a chill place to relax and play some pool. read more

Solid place with a decent beer and liquor selection. They've got pool tables, shuffleboard and darts. If you can't get one, then there is usually an opening for the other. They also have board games you can play. It's not usually super busy, even on a weekend, so it's a decent place to hang out with friends. My friend brought a to-go meal from restaurants up the street since they don't have a kitchen and allow you to bring in food. I love bedrock billiards. It might be my favorite from the Bedrock Bar group. What's not to like? Shuffle Board, Pool, Board games, lots of beers on tap, dark and stormys that are made quite well. I always want to come here, but for some reason I dont always end up going. I always have a good time and the bar tenders are always friendly. The place is almost never super crowded and I have never had to wait to get onto a shuffle board table. I wish i lived near by to be a regular here. read more

It's the basement playroom you have always wanted. With 6 pool tables, two dart lanes, 2 shuffle board tables, a foosball table, and wii. All of which can be rented for any duration of time. They do put an hour and a half limit on tables when there is a wait list to ensure all get to play. Also ask about their board game rentals. Bedrock is the flagship for Bedrock Billiards inc,( rocketbar, buffalo billiards, continental billiards), and has been in the same location for almost 20 years. The things you may not know are that they: 1) have a fantastic beer list 2) offer a membership that saves time on getting a pool table and gives you a 15% discount 3) they do not serve food 4) You can bring your own food in. Even on a crazy Adams Morgan Friday night Bedrock can usually be the only place in the neighborhood that is sane and fun. It is hands down the best neighborhood bar in the city. read more

This is a great place for groups, they have a decent number of pool tables, 2 shuffleboard tables, darts, etc. It is kinda divey, so don't expect award-winning decor. I don't find the prices steep for DC at all. And well...apparently they allow (well behaved) dogs! read more

Bedrock Billiards has been a Columbia Road stalwart for years and offers a great, more relaxed experience if you're trying to escape the madness that is Adams Morgan. Whether it's to shoot some pool, throw darts, or play some Connect Four while sipping great beers, Bedrock's cool basement delivers. Brian Harrison, who went off on his own to found the Reef, used to work here, and they have continued his commitment to good beer. Twelve drafts, that on a recent visit included Anderson Valley's Boont Amber Ale, Bell's Two Hearted Ale, DeKoninck, Erdinger Oktoberfest, and Carlsberg. Another two dozen in bottles, including several Samuel Smiths products, New Holland's Ichabod Pumpkin Ale, and as appropriate for this time of the year, a handful of Oktoberfest/Fest beers. I came here after dinner with my boyfriend and a few friends. We came with the intention to rock Trivia Night and had talked about it excitedly during dinner, so imagine our disappointment when we arrived and found out Trivia Night was not to be. Instead, we gathered around the shuffleboard tables and played for awhile. The place wasn't packed when we arrived, and it was pretty much us when we left. Since that was the case, I was annoyed the bartender handed my boyfriend the wrong credit card. It's not like there was a crowd of people to keep track of. I'm not sure whether you'll allowed to smoke or not, but it had a smokey smell to it when we were there this evening. I think music is jukebox, and it was pretty good. I went for the pool. it did not disappoint. 5 pool tables, not crowded, great staff, and foosball as well. i was happy with it! Cannot wait to go back. if you have a good date you want to go play pool with and be able to have a conversation or a group of friends while still feeling at home; bedrock is the place to go. I'd echo what others have said about BB: laid-back, good draft beers, good jukebox, unpretentious, let you bring food in, etc. but I'd add that their Sunday night trivia experience was a lot of fun. I love the atmosphere here. It has a very dive-y feel to it, but at the same time it's very clean inside. The stool cushions were a little ripped up and the place felt very old, almost historic. The artwork on the walls was interesting. The selection in the jukebox was very... hipster-like. If I were a hipster, I'd probably jizz in my pants. But I'm not. -1. At least the music was at a bearable level, where you don't have to yell at the person next to you to have a decent conversation. The bartender was very nice, and knew her beers. I started with a Bells Two-Hearted, then had an Oktoberfest (I forget which), then I asked for a Belgian golden. She gave me a delicious beer that she recommended. Like others have said, there are only six pool tables. You can be put on a waiting list and drink at the bar until a table opens up. We only had to wait about 5-10 mins. read more

Great hang out spot. My friend and I found this place while exploring the district. The staff were very hard working and friendly. The bartender Jimmy was great. While he told us there was a very long wait to play pool, we got on a table within an hour. The pool tables are 9 ft competition tables which I'm used to playing on, and they are maintained well. The music isn't too loud and the crowd consisted of repeat customers. I loved all the other games available here too. Great place. Only thing that turned me off was the bathrooms were male/female. I don't particularly like using a bathroom after a guy, especially when he's been drinking . And they could have been cleaner. But if you can see past that, it is a great place to have fun with friends! read more

This was my favorite bar... well billards bar for the poolsharks of the area!! The tables screamed for action and often on weekend nights there may have been a 1 or 2 game wait but the GM Brian was very outgoing, friendly passive, and compassionate. He even offered me, an out of towner a free drink while I waited!! I was surprised to find many locals come here to play and I was more pleased to test their skill.. Bedrock Billiards really is a complete dive pool hall. Walking down the stairs is like entering another world, one that doesn't have a single window, nor a fan to air the place out. You can spend five minutes or five hours in this place and have no idea what time it is because it has such a cavernous feel to it. I took my guests there during thanksgiving weekend (saturday afternoon); we had a horrible experience. The bartender was very rude (when I asked for a blue moon he gave me a seasonal one without mentioning it, when I told him that I do not like the pumpkin beer, he told me 'he cannot help me if I dont read' while rudely handing me the menu; moreover when I asked for the powder for the shuffle board, he said "there is enough powder on the board" in a rude way and did not give it to me) Definitely not going there again. It was the first time I gave $0 tip (i usually give 20%) and we left before our game ended because of his attitude. read more

This was a pretty sweet dive bar. IT runs one block parallel of the strip of things to do in Adams Morgan. It had a few pool tables, a few dart boards, and my personal favorite, shuffleboard. Went on a Thursday night and the crowd was small and after buying a few drinks and renting the pucks for shuffleboard my bill came out to $58 which I thought was extremely cheap. Went back on Friday night and did less stuff with less people and my bill came out to $100+. Don't know who messed up because I didn't have the bill from the night before but I am pretty sure the Thursday night bartender gave me a big discount. Anyways, I would definitely go back if I was looking for pool, darts, or shuffleboard since they were the only place we visited that weekend that had any or all of the listed activities. read more

Came here last Saturday after a awful experience in a restaurant in Chinatown anyway my boyfriend and me have so much fun here well.. This is a basement diva bar I walked by 100s of times before going in always curious what was transpiring below as it turn out not much.the crowds are generally very chill and the bartenders are kind and laid back as well. I don't believe they serve food. Prices are good pool and drink are both affordable jukebox is a plus especially because the song selection is top notch. They also darts. Great pool hall, even better hangout spot! This place is like Miami Vice meets Neanderthal man. The best part is asking for "something special" from the mini-beer fridge behind the bar. There used to be a rule at Brickskeller that bartenders working there weren't allowed to socialize there, so this is where they would come. Disgruntled Yelpers complaining about the service need understand one thing: this is an unassuming, largely local pool hall with great gaming options, a plentiful amount of TVs, and great deals on good beers! Yea, the first time I went here I was slightly annoyed with the service, but the next time I went the service was great. You aren't going to get that 5 star service one may expect from the trendiest spot in AdMo, but you will get exactly what is in the description of this spot: a divey pool hall. I live just down the street from here, so I do have a slight bias, but I largely think that those who come here and complain about the bartender are making the incorrect assumption that every single divey bar you go to is going to have prompt service with a smile.... read more

We have had our company Christmas Party here for the last 3 years! Cool joint. They are very accommodating. You can bring food from other places, since they have no kitchen. Juke box is full of older music, tables are good. We always have a great time here! read more

Nice little cozy spot. The bartenders were nice.... we got there around 9pm and the wait time was about 45 minutes for a pool table which was okay. Parking was horrendous!
