I had to leave a review because the ones I saw on here are so far from true! This practice is the best out of all practices I've ever experienced in all my time in America. I am not one for leaving reviews for doctors because it is such an intimate experience, yet I had to after reading what was said on here. I will first and foremost address the blood work. First of all, I am the first and most biggest advocate for anti blood work, I was so scared my self for the process that I pushed it back like a year. But that was so stupid of me because the staff at Bee Cave Family Practice was beyond anything I could imagine. My blood was taken by a straight up genius in blood taking, I mean honestly the staff at the front office was more there for me than my own blood mother. Im not going to lie, this practice is like one in a million. I have so many good words to say that it wouldn't do justice leaving a review. Please, do not visit this practice. Their main intent is to get as much money out of you as possible. It's a disgusting display of healthcare and they should be ashamed of how they try to manipulate and lie to their patients. I was looking for a new PCP since moving to the area, and was due for my physical, so I decided to give them a try. After speaking with Dr. Doyle, I felt like he was trying to sell me on different therapies that were completely unnecessary for me: aka their "Physical Manipulation" services. It rubbed me the wrong way, but I let it go. After getting my bloodwork done, I was told I need to make a follow up appointment to go over results. I thought this, too, was odd but against my better judgement I agreed. Today I showed up for my appointment, and all of my test results came back normal, except for some signs of bone loss. Dr. Doyle kept trying to sell me on their vitamins and supplements, none of which I was interested in again. Important side note: I recently had my 2nd baby, I am currently taking Prenatal Vitamins and I am breastfeeding. He knew this, and continued to sell me on supplements I simply do not need. If you aren't aware, bone loss and low calcium levels are VERY common after giving birth and while you continue to breastfeed. I called my OB after leaving this appointment to verify. He agreed this is absolutely nothing to worry about, and since the doctor was aware of my recent baby and breastfeeding that it should not have been an issue. He said that my levels will replenish and go back to normal once I am done breastfeeding. Dr. Doyle also tried to push the physical manipulation appointments on me again. For absolutely no reason. I told him I wasn't having any more (very slight) pelvic pain that I had mentioned in passing last appointment. And he kept pushing the service, it was extremely uncomfortable. When it was time to check out, I was told I had to pay my co-pay, which I was not happy about since this I was under the impression that this was a part of my yearly physical. Why could I not have just viewed my results online like every other doctors office on the planet? I wasn't told this was even an option NOR was I given a patient portal log in until this follow up appointment. Why? To get more money out of me. I was also told to come back in 3 months to re-check my bone loss levels. Again, all of these unnecessary ploys to get money from their patients is absolutely insane. I feel very sorry for their patients who are naive to the fact that they are being taken advantage of. Stay FAR AWAY from this office. read more

In November 2015 I went there twice. I had pneumonia. But they didn't diagnose it as such. I had to go to another doctor the next week and they immediately diagnosed me. I will never go back there. Last Wednesday, I accidentally called their number instead of my regular doctor's number to cancel my appointment with my regular doctor. And I quote "This visit costs me money. You pay me $90 but my cost to provide services is $123 so I can't possible afford to explain the adrenal gland process". He then proceeded to try to sell me a liver cleanse and some supplements. I've never posted a review, positive or negative, but felt it necessary to do so in this case. If I could give this office zero I would...This is my arm after I went in for a routine blood draw at Bee Cave Family practice...this is actually about 3 days after...I wasn't allowed to lie down after telling the nurse repeatedly that I passed out...he was insisting that I sit instead. Well I did and guess what I passed out. Before I left this office I was sick...he told me just to ho home and get some sleep...Well I didn't have that luxury because I had to work. The next day I was so sick I couldn't get out of bed I then tested positive for COVID 19. I was sick during the Christmas holidays. I then got a phone call saying I missed a follow up appointment which I don't even remember making and that I owed $50.00. I told the receptionist what happened and she could of cared less in fact she started screaming at me saying I still owed etc...then she proceeded to tell me the young man who did my blood draw got fired and they had problems with him:-(...This is a terrible office with absolutely no morals. I never went back for my test results to this day because of this awful experience...Please do not waist your time and find an office that actually cares. You'll be glad you did!!! read more

I've had the same PCP for 6 years now and decided to try a new doctor closer to home rather than making the trek to downtown Austin. I am SO GLAD I did. I'm fairly young but there's been some pretty serious heart disease in my family, Np. Ngo listened very attentively and made me feel comfortable when talking about my deceased family members. Her bedside manner was wonderful. I had some labs done that day and rather than just having a nurse call me with my labs as my previous PCP had done, we scheduled a follow up. When I went back, Np. Ngo sat with me and went through everything line by line. There were things in these labs I'd never even seen before. On top of the usual metabolic and lipid panels, they did advanced lipid, cardiac, bone health, hormone, thyroid... four full pages of info. I've had more labs done than I care to count but have never seen labs quite this thorough. Having the opportunity to review my cardiac labs for the first time made me feel SO much better. Naturally, I was a little concerned the labs would cost me an arm and a leg. It was explained to me that they contract with a small lab that doesn't try to put put patients and insurance companies through the wringer. Without a doubt I would have had to pay several hundred dollars more if my old PCP ran those same tests through LapCorp. I've been to a lot of doctors ya'll - Dr. Freeland really knows what he's doing when it comes to running a practice. I could not recommend Bee Caves Family Practice more highly. read more

this place is... just not good. i went there hoping to establish care as my primary for myself and my family. i did my annual physical and the NP was great so i was in high hopes. i had to get lab work done offsite at a labcorp even though i was told everything was done at the clinic. but that's not even the worst part.. rather than calling or sending a message through the portal to go over lab work, they require another appointment and don't bill it under your preventative annual exam!! it's billed totally separately as just an attempt to get as much money from you as possible. never have i ever been to a place that requires another visit entirely simply to review lab work. on top of all that, i had a virtual appointment and didn't hear anything regarding this. i called after 20-25 minutes and at that point was informed i owed so i cancelled the appointment. in short, i do not recommend this practice. it is not organized and they will try to squeeze as much out of you as possible. read more

This is a difficult review for me to write. And I think it's an important review to write because I don't want another mother or patient to go through what my family and I have gone through with this establishment. I searched high and low when I moved to Austin for a family physician who both took my insurance plan and who also shared my philosophy of an integrated approach to medicine. Even in a town like Austin this was a tall order. Trained as a DO, rather than the more conservative MD, Dr. Freeland fits this on paper. My initial reaction to waiting over an hour for my first appointment in an office that wasn't even visibly full was to run screaming from the building. And I gave this office a year to prove me wrong. The convenience of a two mile drive and so-called walk in service was too powerful a combination along with my other two requirements. We had some highs and lows. I appreciated things such as his allowing me to get recommendations from my nutritionist at People's Pharmacy, consider them, and then write prescriptions for her suggested hormonal and supplemental protocol when he agreed with them. And I appreciated one of his staff members calling me after hours from her cell phone and leaving the number for me when she knew my matter was urgent. I also saw that they tried very hard to establish good procedures even though they failed in this regard over and over. The thing that finally sent me searching for another practitioner was that my darling daughter went through hell for 9 months, as did I as her mother, with nothing to show for our months of attempts to get to the bottom of her symptoms with Dr. Freeland. By the time we got to another clinic we faced a scare that could have been avoided had there been a decent continuity of care. Dr. Freeland and his staff don't return phone calls or follow-through with test results. And 9 months and 3 requests later we still can't get records of our time with them. The list of things that just didn't work for me as a patient goes on and on...but you get the gist. After months of searching I finally found nurse practitioner Sharon Shephard, who has restored my faith in modern integrative medicine. I was continuously concerned about oversights in my experiences with Dr. Freeland whom - although extremely kind and friendly - I found to be spacey, disconnected, and easily distracted. I got a bad feeling every time I tried to get to the bottom of anything in this atmosphere. The cancer scare that my daughter and I went through is something no one should have to bear frivolously. Primary care is not this office's forte. I hope that Dr. Freeland and his staff find a more appropriate niche for his exploding practice. read more

Terrible service, nice people, but terrible. No follow up, lack of organization, they are still writing down things on scratch paper, so its no wonder they don't know what is going on when their patients walk in the door. I have been with them almost 2 years and my wife and I have booth experience what many of you have left in your reviews. They request follow up exams, and say they will call you to schedule, but they NEVER CALL you. I have had this happen a few times and when I call to schedule, they are completely lost as to why I am even calling, so I have to explain why. Then when you come in for your exam, they have no clue why are there. This means explaining it again to the Dr, hoping you have remembered everything as to why you are they. They often forget to call you back on blood work results, which means you have to call, and then they say they will call you back, which they don't; often this is because they haven't reviewed it in over a week or more. This just happened to me, and the assistant on the phone said she would email me my blood work results (as if I could understand them), and get this, she emailed me another patient's blood work. They also do not do a good job informing their patients of options. I found out I have hypothyroidism, and aside from a prescription, I was given no information about the problem, foods to avoid or eat...nothing. I have even had an assistant take my heart rate incorrectly. I had to get on the internet and talk to other people who have faced the same issues. read more

Quite disappointed with Bee Cave Family Practice for a few reasons. 1). To hear the results of my lab results from my physical I was asked to come back (which costs $$$). I asked if I could get my results over the phone since I am healthy and fairly confident I wouldn't need to be told anything in person. I was informed (via a text message) that I could get a phone call for a second fee. 2). I asked specifically when I called to meet with the doctor (not the nurse practitioner). Unfortunately despite getting text confirmation that I would see a doctor I was seen by a medical student then briefly by a nurse practitioner. 3). I called and left voicemails to set up the appointment and to hear my results. I left messages at three different points. After each voicemail I received text messages the following day. With the final two voice messages I left I specifically asked for a phone call back. For the three reasons listed above I will not be going back to Bee Caves Family Practice. I am very disappointed in their service and greedy tactics. read more

I saw Dr. Doyle for years. He is a superb Doctor. I saw a couple of negative reviews here on him. Sounds like poor communication to me. Dr. Doyle also has a Ph.D in Physics along with being a D.O.. He is incredibly sharp. So if he was suggesting certain supplements or whatever, he knows what he is talking about. So yes I am sticking up for him. He really helped me and I have some severe heart and thyroid issues and he managed both issues with no problem. I am very sad to see he is no longer at Bee Cave. What a loss to Lakeway and BeeCave. Dr. Freeland is knowledgeable and attentive to our health condition, family history, and quality of life. I value the fact that Dr. Freeland takes a whole life approach to health care. He considers all aspects of one's life before rashly recommending any medications. Diet, exercise, sleep, family history, stress, and more are all important factors in our health. I've spent my entire life looking for a doctor like Dr Freeland. For myself, he's the perfect doctor. He's balanced in his views with modern western medicine and the use of alternative supplements. What I really love about seeing Dr Freeland is his ability to listen, take an interest, and showing empathy with me and my issues. I spent 5 years trying to find a solution to a problem and saw many doctors and specialist...he found my answer or least a major puzzle piece. He makes you a part of the soliton. He asks you what direction you feel comfortable about going in. I feel important there and that I don't have to be my own advocate with getting answers. He's a partner in my journey to getting healthy. I also like that he is a teaching doctor. He always has an intern or student with him and I can tell that they respect him. They all reflect his values and he actively teaches during our visits. I am so thankful to have met him. He is very genuine, warm, and authentic. He's a very rare doctor. While I do think he can get easily distracted and it's easy to for us to get sidetracked in another conversation he always takes care of the job and I'm also easily distracted so I am in no position to judge. I'd been looking for a good doctor in my network for several years, and going through a few who were less than satisfatory, I got referred to Dr. Freeland. From the beginning, he talked to me about options for treatments and what he could do for me, all while taking into consideration my personal medical history and background. You can't get any better than Dr. Freeland! He takes the time to listen and to make sure you understand what to do when you leave his office. He is a genuine person who wants to see his people become healthy and happy, not ply them with prescription medications, one on top of the other. In the course of finding a good doctor, I found how to look up doctors through the Texas Medical Board website to make sure that they are not under suspension or have any reprimands. Unlike some of the other doctors Ihave seen in the area, Dr. Freeland hasn't had any reprimands or suspensions in his career. So, check your doctor and go with your heart, but if you're considering Dr. Freeland as your doctor, you're going in the right direction. read more

So, if you notice I left a review about this practice in 2014 stating how phenomenal they are. It's been almost 5 years and nothing has changed. The entire office staff is helpful, friendly, skilled and patient. Dr. Doyle has been a godsend to my family. Find another Doctor who is also a practicing acupuncturist and a Chiropractor. The practice manager, Sara, has been my advocate on more than one occasion and I can always depend upon her to answer the phone and be willing to do whatever she can to help me. My experience here has been disappointing. When I visit the office in person I get treated fairly by the front office staff but when talking to them on the phone I get the bare minimum of respect and help. For instance I called on a Tuesday for an RX change request and by Friday I still had not heard back from them except an automated call wanting to up sell me on some allergy treatment. So I called them and as of Thursday of the next week my issue has not been resolved. The only saving point at all is that the dr's themselves are very professional. RUN!!! This place is absolutely awful. I used to see Dr. Doyle (who was great) but now that he is gone this place has gone so far downhill it's alarming. So many issues...where do I even start? I was told to come in before I could get my thyroid meds refilled (totally fine) but when I got there I waited over 30 minutes and then was told I could do an optional physical in addition to getting my other labs done. I didn't have time that day but came back a week later for it. After waiting over an HOUR (in the room, not including lobby wait time) I had to leave. Never even saw the doctor. I then waited weeks and never received my labs nor my medication refill. Called several times. Nothing. After almost 4 months I spoke to them and was told multiple "stories" about why it hadn't been done. I then had to deal with the RUDEST staff member that wouldn't let me get a word in and then when I finally asked her if I could please explain why what she was saying wasn't not accurate (bc she was telling me I never came in) she literally hung up the phone! I called back and she hung up again and refused to answer. I called from a different line and I asked for my medical records and she hung up. Umm, does she not realize that she is legally obligated to release my records? After calling several times, I was able to reach 1 nice person that said she will send them. We will see... summery, I came in for an appt that they insisted I had, completed the required medical labs, never had my prescriptions called it, and then after 4 months of this happening was treated horribly and still right back where I started. So glad I paid for that. Don't waste your time with people like this. Your care is truly not a priority. read more

Most outrageous, awful, dismissive doctor I have ever encountered. After a wonderful appointment with a different doctor in the practice, who has since left, I was rescheduled with the nurse practitioner to review my lab results. Without notification, I was seen by Dr. Freeland in place of the nurse practitioner. Dr. Freeland stated that he had not reviewed any of my files or lab results prior to the appointment. As the appointment started, he proceeded to flippantly review them with me without asking any questions about my family history. Based on the lab work, he gave a diagnosis based on one of the numbers. When I asked what the diagnosis meant, he told me to "google it". When I pressed him on what type of experience he had treating clients with this disease, he told me I could take medication or just "cut out gluten." Upon googling this disease after leaving, I have found no references to cutting out gluten. This was a wasted visit and that I am going to have to reschedule with a doctor at a different practice to review my labs, as well as the ECG that was administered but never got the results for. Aside from the questionable medical advice, he failed to wear a mask even though he indicated that he has potentially been exposed to coronavirus on at least two occasions. Instead of answering my questions, he gave anecdotal stories of his own life that had no relevance. He expressed that he's a 'leper' because of his gluten intolerance. He also discussed his (failing) business and his wish that, "AntiFa would come and burn down the office" so that he could claim the insurance. Well, Dr. Freeland, I don't think anyone needs to come burn down your practice, you're doing a fairly good job of that yourself. read more

Incredibly bad -- I don't recall one visit that DIDN'T bring with it some suspicious (and sometimes massively incorrect) billing issues. I saw Dr. Freeland for the very first time in January of 2018. I can't remember the last time I was beyond satisfied when seeing a doctor. Dr. Freeland is an amazing man and a fantastic doctor. We spent over 45 minutes together and his care and genuine concern about my health was unbelievable. He didn't rush in and rush out. He was patient and in no way did he seem rushed. I'm glad to know there are Doctors like Dr. Freeland who are still around. I can't imagine seeing any other doctor other than Dr. Freeland for hopefully a long long time! DO NOT GO TO TIM DOYLE. He was completely unprofessional, rude and acted superior to me as a patient. He did not address my concern of shingles and was almost mocking me. He completed wasted my time and money. I am so upset. He made me feel very uncomfortable voicing my health concerns because of his sarcastic attitude and lack of concern. I walked out in the middle of our "conversation" in the patient room because he made me feel so inadequate. He was completely accusatory and would not listen to me as a patient. When I saw Dr. Dan Freeland for a serious and sudden illness he laughed in my face and said "What do you want me to do about it?" So - you are a doctor that provides medical diagnosis.... He then proceded to show me a detailed chart all about endocrinology. But when I asked a question about it - he told me he didn't know that much about endocrinology. He repeatedly told me he had already spent too much time with me already - though I saw him for only a total of 20 minutes. He then wrote me a prescription for $200+ of herbal treatments payble to his clinic- which I declined and filled with a $7 prescription that is covered by my insurance at the pharmacy. Overall, I think he needs to reconsider why he is in this profession. Clearly he is not interested in the care of his patients, but is quite interested in making money. read more

Dr. Freedland is a nice man and his nurses and office staff very friendly. That being said. I don't ever appreciate waiting more than half an hour (on average ) to be seen or being put on hold for ten minutes when I call to make an appointment. I love the osteopathic work he does and that he incorporates lots of different medicinal theories and disciplines but I feel that his office environment is a bit too casual. The staff are a bit too chatty for my taste and I don't like having to listen to their personal conversations in the hall once I finally get to see the doctor. Also, after waiting so long to be seen it is annoying how rushed Dr. Freedland always seems and how nurses and staff are always interrupting the appointment. read more

We have been treated with kindness, professionalism, and great care since we were referred to BC Family Practice. We have seen Dr. Doyle and Dr. Freeland. Recently, my son had been exposed to corrosive battery acid. The nurse practitioner got him in immediately, diagnosed the problem, and got him some salve that solved with the problem within 24 hours. The only drawback is that they sometimes don't answer the phone immediately. However, the quality of the medical team more than makes up for that. read more

Great FNPs who take their time to listen. Occasional wait times, however that's pretty typical. Overall, pleased with my experiences.

Dr. Doyle caught my strep infection (which two other doctors had missed) from non-typical symptoms. He's also aware of my other chronic health conditions (like Lyme) and is willing to work with me and my specialists. The women in the front office are also wonderfully professional and supportive. I'm not the biggest fan of some of the interns who shadow the doctor, but my experiences at Bee Caves make the drive to Lakeway worth it, especially after burning through several other general practitioners who just don't measure up. read more

For months I've been trying to get the office to correct the doctors name on my prescription all to no avail. They submitted my prescription under a doctors name whom I've never seen or even know. They will not reissue the prescription unless I come in for an office visit ($$$). Dr. Doyle and Dr. Freeland are excellent physicians, I would recommend to anyone, especially those with back problems. They care and understand what the patient is going through. They spend the time necessary to address your issues, they don't just nod their head and usher you out of the office, so that they can get to the next patient. The staff in the office is amazing, I can't say enough about them and how they handle the operations of the office. It takes a lot of work to manage the doctor's, patients and vendors and they handle and conduct themselves in a caring and professional manner. I'm beyond grateful that I have finally found a doctor that understands and actually cares about me. Based on our great experience with the allergy specialist Kelly, we decided to use Bee Caves Family Practice for all our medical needs. The staff and doctors/nurse practitioners are professional and compassionate, and listen to any concerns you might have. As far as scheduling, they will do their utmost to get you in quickly if you need an immediate appointment. We appreciate the fact that they have a phlebotomist that provides lab draw services on-site. We recommend Bee Caves Family Practice without reservation. read more

Today's my last day because i moved to Colorado and found a doctor that treats my special needs. I'm astounded to find this have an average of three stars. This is ridiculous. I've been coming here since last year. First I saw Marsha then both Kim and Dr. Doyle alternatively. It was sad to see Marsha go. She was fast and understanding and awesome. After Marsha left I was assigned to Kim. Wow. She's not what you expected. She's so down to earth. She's so patience with me because I'm deaf and I write back and forth to communicate. She's a wonderful listener. As for Dr Doyle, he's unique and one of a kind. He will first check you out then he will sit down and listen to me. There were two deaths in my family inside a year. He was very concerned. He prescribed appropriate medication for my grief (couldn't sleep well). After all are done we got up. He looked at me and hugged me. I needed the hug because at the time I was in a severe case of grief and he brought some comfort. He is unlike other doctors in Austin that rushed you in and out. He's not this. He takes his time. The receptionist by the name of Angel is awesome as well. She responds quickly and fits me in to tight schedule within 72 hours. The other lady by the name of Melissa is fast and responsive to all email messages. read more

But severral things happened that have turned me off the whole office. They never return calls or emails with questions, and have recently failed to return calls asking for a visit for blood work. In a nutshell, we moved to Austin recently and I needed to get a prescription to continue the medications I'm CURRENTLY taking. So you can imagine my shock when THEY MADE ME TAKE A DRUG TEST in order to get a prescription for the medications I've been taking for years. I obliged, since I'm not a "druggy" but was definitely insulted. That aside, there were real live crickets that were literally jumping down hallways and in exam rooms. Grossed out, I pointed at TWO of the real, living, long-jumping crickets and said "Is anyone going to kill those things or attempt to remove them?" and they just said, "Can you believe them?! They're all over today!", smiling while saying so. WHAT THE??? It makes you question the cleanliness of the place if they just allow insects to roam freely from the lobby to the lab. Another turnoff was the creepy way the male Dr asked if I was done having children. Lastly, I was told to wait while they looked over my urine sample.... after 20 minutes of waiting, I look up and my urine sample is sitting on the counter in my exam room. They didn't even have it... which means they certainly weren't looking at it. How long could I have sat there had I not notified them that they didn't even have the sample?! Also, similar to other reviews, they wanted me to come back for a follow-up visit (another co-pay and office visit in their pockets... maybe that's why the did the drug test, now that I think of it, more $$$ on their paycheck) to get the results. Worst staff ,go somewhere ANYWHERE else,it's pretty much there office manager Susan who doesn't know @##$ about anything.
