Came here early December 2025. I had gone to my OBGYN the day before going to Viks due to unnatural breast pain, swelling, & spreading redness. I left the OB completely freaked out (the on call doc when I went was absolutely awful) & not to mention, with no diagnosis or meds or anything at all. As someone who suffers from anxiety, I had a full blown anxiety attack for the next 24 hours. The following day I couldn't take it and came down the road to viks. Due to the intimate nature of my issue, I requested a female doctor but they told me they only had male; so I just took what I could get, not a huge deal. Front desk was fairly nice, filled out the papers, and they took me back fairly quickly. My doctor was Dr. Mcalasdair (apologies if i spelled that wrong). While I did originally want an ultra sound, he attempted talking me out of it. We went back and forth for a little bit but ultimately he said he was pretty confident he knew what was causing this, and while he didnt think an ultrasound was needed, he was willing to call their ultrasound person to come down and do it if I was adamant. I eventually caved and agreed to not do the ultrasound. Although he did make a little dig during our convo which I didn't appreciate (he said something along the lines of "I've been doing this for 30 years so I think I know what I'm doing). Please don't be condescending. Regardless of how long you've been in medicine, people are still allowed to advocate for themselves & their desires for their treatment. Anyway - aside from that, he was attentive and reassuring. However I've got to give it to the nurse - she really soothed me and my anxieties. She was such a sweetheart. She was maybe a middle aged lady with a British accent. She was so attentive, answered all my questions, checked on me, and when she could tell how nervous I was, she even brought me a little mini teddy bear with a viks shirt on to hold onto. No matter how old you are, little gestures like that really mean something, especially when you're scared. In the end, what I got was an IV in the arm with antibiotics. I believe it took like 45 min to fully drain. While I just sat there and waited, my nurse even brought me a heated blanket to make sure I was warm and comfortable. She was the best. They wrote me a prescription for an oral antibiotic but we were unsure if we were gonna make it on time before the pharmacy closed. On the off chance we didn't, they gave me my first pill ther so I wouldn't have to worry about missing a dose that night (in case we weren't able to get it until the next day). Thankfully we did make it to the pharmacy before they closed though. But that was really thoughtful. In the end, we ended up paying the ER price upon leaving. I haven't received any other bill in the mail so I can't speak on that experience yet... Also - the doctor called the next day to check up on me but I was unable to answer so he left a message. I called back the following day, but he wasn't busy with a patient so a message was taken. No call back. Called again the next day, he wasn't at the lakeway location, he was at another location. So I called the other viks location I was told he was at and they took a message since he was busy with a patient and told me he would call me back. He never did. I called again a day or two later back to the lakeway location and they gave me the same story and said they'd take a message but I told them I had already tried that multiple times and got no call back and told them I just wanted to speak to anyone on staff nurse or otherwise for them to answer my questions. So they put me on hold and I spoke to another doc I'm assuming, but not the one I saw, not dr macalasdair. This doc was pretty vague and dismissive with his answers. Basically it was like a couple word answers or "I can't answer that unless you come back in & we look at you again"...... mkay. He was unhelpful. Between the snarky response when I was advocating for myself in the room & the lack of call back and unhelpful response I got when I finally demanded to speak to anyone doctor on staff, that's why I took one star off. Otherwise, I had a solid experience. They fixed me and calmed my nerves at the same time. If anything goes awry with billing, I'll be sure to update my review. I recently visited Vik's Complete Care after a severe fall while working in my closet and believed I needed immediate medical attention. Before going, I checked my Humana insurance, which listed this facility as a provider, so I arrived expecting to use my coverage. Once I arrived, I was told they do not accept insurance, which was very confusing and concerning given how they were listed under my plan. I was then informed that costs would start at around $800 or more, and according to the receptionist, they do not perform X-rays. Despite my insurance copay being $45, I was insisted upon to pay $800 upfront before any examination, without being seen by a doctor or receiving any medical evaluation. Due to the excessive cost, I declined treatment and left. The receptionist was extremely rude and dismissive throughout the interaction, which only made the situation worse. Being pressured for a large upfront payment before any care was provided raised serious concerns. Overall, between the lack of transparency regarding insurance, exorbitant pricing, and unprofessional behavior, I chose not to proceed with treatment and will not be returning. This experience left me very uncomfortable and concerned about how patients are treated here. read more

They take advantage of people and do not direct them to the correct resources on purpose to misinform and not diagnose them as they don't have the equipment that does so. They gave no referral for me, as well as other people I've talked to in the Lakeway area. This place is a complete scam and will not value you as a person, but as a dollar sign. I DO NOT RECOMMEND, as they prefer to destroy and judge people rather than help people become better educated about their health. All in all, terrible and toxic. This is the best urgent care I've ever been to in my life. In fact, they are far better than any hospital in Austin, as well as any PCP. There's only one specialist in town I know that I can trust as well. VIK Urgent Care is caring, knowledgeable and efficient. And, I have a medical background and read extensively. I have the utmost respect for the doctors, technicians, front desk administration, etc. My favorite doctor, Dr. A., has a background in studying a fascinating field and can truly help if you have a recurring problem. I don't want to go into detail here, but he is a man with more "hands on" knowledge than most doctors I've met. I wish he were my PCP. Thank you so very much, Dr. A!!! read more

Unfortunately that doesn't erase the awful care (or lack there of) Dr. Ali provided, but it does help reflect your clinic in a better light. Thank you.** I want to preface with saying that I had a wonderful experience here initially on Christmas Day for my older daughter. We saw a male MD and had a great experience. Today, was the total opposite and we will absolutely not be returning and telling all our friends to avoid it as well. I took my 3 year old here for possible concussion- she had several symptoms that scream "concussion!". Dr Mayada Ali spent about 30 seconds doing very quick tests and said "She looks fine. She's likely just attention seeking or feeling embarrassed." This is my 4th child and my wild one, I'm not phased by much and certainly don't abruptly leave lunch and walk over to urgent care just for anything small. She had numerous concussion symptoms. The nursing staff and front desk were great. Dr. Ali was rude, didn't take my concerns seriously and dismissed me. She told me "You won't find a hospital that will do a scan (I wasn't asking for one) without sedating her and it's very traumatic." Well, on the car ride home my daughter vomited 3 times. We took her to Texas Children's North where they were wonderful! They took our concerns seriously, acknowledged that her behavior was off from her norm and all the symptoms I listed were concerning. They did all the same tests as Dr. Ali but actually took time with each one and determined that she absolutely had a concussion. We did a CT which she was fully awake and happy for, no sedation whatsoever, we were there holding her hand the whole times the CT took maybe 1 minute- not traumatic at all. Dr. Ali was horrendous. I was told a nurse manager would be calling me back about my concerns but I haven't heard anything yet. Dr. Ali brushed us off and sent away a 3 year old with a concussion and argued with me when I expressed my concerns of how she was handling our care. So disappointed. read more

It's tough to review this place because they have helped me multiple times with time sensitive issues and the majority of the staff is very nice and helpful. My recent visit I had some imaging done for some pain and was later told that the images showed no reason for the pain. I later took a copy of that image to another doctor and she was able to immediately see the issue and even said that the doctor at Vik had written a note about the issue on my scans but still told me I was fine anyways. read more

Tells me she needs me to fill out a sign in sheet. Then she starts barking orders at me to get a pen because I'm not done. Horrible first interaction with zero compassion. Took my daughter here for an earache/infection. My daughter said she was feeling like she had to vomit, the nurse held a vomit bag for her and wasn't paying attention and my daughter vomited all over herself. After the first vomit, the nurse continued to not pay attention and my daughter vomited on herself again. I asked for an anti-biotic, but they didnt have any liquid meds for kids. I asked for an e-script, but they're not capable of doing that either. Waste of time and money. You're better off going to BSW down the street. read more

DO NOT SEEK EMPLOYMENT HERE !! This employer has significant issues with its HR and payroll departments, and management tends to cover up their mistakes rather than address them. Within my first 90 days, they miscalculated my hourly rate, started my medical benefits on the wrong date, and failed to provide the necessary paperwork for my sign-on bonus, which was a key reason I joined the company. In addition, When I left the company after 1 year, was also misled about crucial information needed to receive my full payout. I've also heard numerous complaints from other employees about similar errors with their pay and benefits. Management is quick to point out even the smallest mistakes on your part, while overlooking the heavy workload, including the extensive paperwork, data entry, and patient registration duties that are part of the job. Working at the front desk, registration, or admissions is particularly challenging, as you're often left to handle a high volume of patients and calls on your own. Unlike other Free Standing ERs that offer additional support during busy shifts, at VIK, there's only one doctor, one nurse, one radiology tech, and one front office staff member on duty. My daughter slipped and cut open the bottom of her chin on pool edging. I immediately called VIK complete care in Lakeway because I have a high deductible plan and I know traditional hospital ER visits would be painful. The gentleman that answered the phone was very professional. I told him my situation and he told me about their cash pay system and that my daughter's situation would fall under tier 1. The cost associated with this tier was very reasonable and I was able to get my daughter in within one minute of entry in the door. She received four stitches. she successfully held those stitches for five days in which I returned and they removed the stitches complementary. They also gave her a teddy "dog" after the stitches and then a strawberry slurpeee and stickers after she bravely took the stitches out with no pain. She is 3 and didn't even cry both during stitches and removal. The physician (Dr. Roe), the nurse (tall, nice, blonde) and EMT (nice, dark haired male) were the nicest and most professional we could have esker for and clearly loved their jobs. In fact, my daughter was willing and excited to give the nurse and the EMT a hug upon the conclusion of the visit. We will always use this facility. Top-notch service, five star for sure. I recently had a colonoscopy and was having GI issues that were progressively getting worse. It was 2AM on a weekday, and I was having horrible nausea and vomiting along with other GI symptoms to where I was super scared and wanted to get help right then and there because I had no idea what was going on and didn't want to get worse. The major problem was that I didn't have insurance. However, my husband found this place, and we decided to try it out and go from there. We thought it was an urgent care but it turns out it's an emergency department! We ended up going twice because I didn't feel like I was getting better the first time, so they happily took me again and treated me: The staff is wonderful! We came the first time in the middle of the night and the second time in the evening. Both times, we were checked in and seen really fast. I ended up having the same nurse for both times, and he was outstanding! I really wish I remembered his name, but he was a male nurse with glasses who was super funny yet so kind and great with everything! I was impressed by how efficient everything ran! I had 3 different doctors (Dr. Esmay the first time and then I think Dr. Macalasdair then Dr. Allensworth the 2nd time since it was a change-of-shift). They were all fantastic! I can tell they all care and take pride in what they do. Every single doctor was sensitive to the cost of everything since they knew we didn't have insurance which we appreciated so much! They were honest about what they thought was necessary and what could be nice to have but that wasn't necessary. They all literally sat down with us and spoke to us about everything and what they thought could be going on. They were each very patient and invested in me getting better. In fact, Dr. Allensworth said if for some reason if I'm not feeling better to come back and they will not give up on helping me. That was so comforting! I'm doing much better now but going to see a GI specialist just in case. My situation may not have been life-threatening, but it felt that way in the moment to me, so to have staff that were so caring, efficient, and dedicated on figuring out what the problem is so they can take proper interventions to take care of me, that was everything. As a nurse who works with many doctors and nurses, this group is OUTSTANDING! I highly recommend this emergency department! I was also shocked at the amount of money we spent because I was expecting to spend thousands and thankfully didn't since it was surprisingly really affordable! They didn't even know I was a nurse at first and yet took great care of me and treated me like an actual person. Thank you so much to the wonderful team that took care of me! Viks visit 11/4 and 11/5 I've used VIKS several times in the past from my own sickness during pregnancy to health issues with both my oldest and youngest daughters, including stitches and a seizure. I've always applauded the care received from our visits, as can be seen on a previous YELP post. Our visit and interaction with Daniel MacAlasdair, MD on (also the medical director as stated per the card he gave me) on 11/5/23 was not our typical experience. Further concern is it looks like Dr. Daniel MacAlasdair is Dr. Daniel Roe, which I question why his card stated otherwise. Background information: my youngest was seen on 11/2 at the ENT for a sinus infection but began to have severe diarrhea and would have vomiting after taking her antibiotic. Considering this was her 2nd antibiotic for the issue and her past history with not responding to oral antibiotics, I took her in on 11/4 to see about having the antibiotic shot administered to her since she has responded well in the past and the ENT was closed until Monday. She was evaluated and given the shot as hoped. Originally, they charged me for an urgent care visit on 11/4, but because I would have to return for a nurse visit for the 2nd shot on 11/5, they voided the urgent care copay and charged an ER copay since her visit the following day would be covered under being seen for the same issue within a 72-hour period. However, this was not the case. Upon arriving on 11/5 for our 2nd shot and having our paperwork filled out, the front desk lady alerted the nurses who could be witnessed informing Dr. MacAlasdair of the prior day's visit, seeing as they were our same nurses. Dr. MacAlasdair immediately shut down the nurses and said, "no, it'll need to be a separate ER charge." I informed Dr. MacAlasdair of the prior day's visit and had copies of my receipts, which he refused to look at. He said he was, "choosing not to honor the 72-hour time period and my daughter would need to be reevaluated." Key word "choosing", which I confronted him about. He said, "we don't see patients for free." I told him, I was simply being seen for a nurse's visit as this is the protocol for a 2nd shot and what was discussed the day prior under the ER 72- hour protocol. He said, "The doctor the day before was new and didn't know what he was doing." He refused to honor what I was told the day prior and refused medical services unless I paid, which I did because I didn't have any other option on a Sunday. This isn't about money- this is about a "medical director" and doctor who couldn't honor what was said the day before along with following the 72- hour time period with an ER visit when all my daughter needed was a follow-up shot. Dr. MacAlasdair had not even pulled up my daughter's chart and was quick to put blame on another doctor versus take ownership of protocols and procedures that should be in place, especially if he is the appointed medical director as his card states. This seems to be about billing for an insurance visit and is very concerning. We will be contacting our insurance company and following up with VIKS further. And I'll always call to see if this doctor is on duty before I use VIKS again. read more

Please avoid this place and hopefully any other place you go may do better than this one. We went there for laceration, and the ER MD asked us if we wanted to do X-Ray. We wouldn't go there if we are able to diagnose and decide what should be done. The nurse who put the splint didn't care to explain how to care for it (during bath etc) and didn't bother to answer any questions. We worked with 4 of the staff members while we were there, all of them except probably one had done nothing to provide good experience. They don't seem skilled enough or lacking knowledge to provide the right care. Unfortunately there is nothing positive to write about and the whole experience was terrible. read more

I have worked in the medical field for 18 years and have seen all types of bedside manner throughout my career. I do have to shout out this facility to commend the superior treatment I received from the moment I walked in, starting with the front office staff. My nurse immediately made me feel comforted and did everything quickly/efficiently to ensure I was ready for the physician as soon as possible. Dr. Esmay was so kind. Had a fantastic experience at this clinic on Thursday, December 1 around 10 PM. I had severe headache pain with terrible nausea and wasn't sure what I had had going on. The staff was amazing -Lisa the RN was excellent with the IV & attention, and the doctor did a great job providing comprehensive care and analysis. I ended up getting diagnosed with a severe case of Covid and a doctor even followed up with me by phone to see how I was feeling two days later. I would not hesitate to return for any reason. I was extremely pleased with the cleanliness of the facility, and I thought the staff was excellent. read more

My son obtained a deep cut while in the water on Lake Austin on the bottom of his foot (arch) that needed aid. We went to Vik as it was almost 8:30 by the time he made it home and everything was closed. He saw the Dr on duty, who merely spread open the wound and irrigated it with saline. He never numbed his foot as he indicated he would, so that wasn't pleasant. No X-ray, no stitches, just neosporin and a bandaid (and a tetanus shot per my request) and we left with $100 paid bill and a Rx to fill for Cipro. Two days later we're in the ER at BSW in Lakeway because he's developed an infection in the wound and the swelling has increased along with pain. The ER Dr says the antibiotic wasn't the correct one for that type of wound, she's surprised he didn't get him an X-ray for any rocks or debris, and she says this laceration should've been stitched. Needless to say my son is getting the right care now at BSW and has a much better prognosis on the right antibiotics and pain meds. I will never go back to Vik again and hope others take this review seriously as this wasn't brain surgery he needed - just basic medical care for a common injury from enjoying the lake. read more

Emma Almanza, MD is massively unpleasant. I had 100% positive interactions with the medics/technicians, as well as the front desk - they were all great - but oh. my. goodness. Dr. Almanza was horrible. Maybe she has a Dr. House complex, but being snide and condescending is only funny when you have an audience on a hit tv show and it only works if you're a genius doctor, which she definitely is not. I came in for the worst sore throat I've had in recent memory and when all my tests came back negative, I said "well if it's nothing, I'll just tough it out" to which she replies "I DIDN'T SAY IT WAS NOTHING!" woahh lady calm down. She actually yelled at me. I told her I didn't want to take any antibiotics, especially since my test came back negative and I didn't have any white patches, but she kept trying to give me antibiotics. She was adamant about giving me the shot of antibiotics and I said I didn't want that so she suggested I take them orally instead. Do you get some kind of kickback on these? I mean what on earth. I said I really didn't want to take antibiotics and she goes "just bc these RAPID tests came back negative DOESN'T mean you don't have STREP!!" Wow she really wants me to have strep... I'm not sure how she made it past even the first round phone interview to work here, but hot tip for the private equity owners of this practice: get rid of Emma Almanza, MD - she's hurting your return. I have a choice where I go to the doctor and Dr. Almanza has left such a negative impression that I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Service and care were great but the very first question I had when I arrived was - Do I actually need to be here ( BP was 180/120)? $2,819, 35 Minutes, and one EKG later they literally say - you really don't have to come in unless you're over 220 or have other symptoms (which I did not). Healthcare in general is broken but this is a clear case of abusing trust and taking advantage of someone when they are vulnerable. read more

My niece cut her finger bad enough to need medical attention. We went to VIK last night and they washed the cut and glued it together. It was maybe 1/2" long so not big. The doctor and other staff were great and the service was good. My complaint is that they charged $500 to glue together a simple cut. No X-rays,, no tests, but $500! When we entered they said it would be between $160 and $500, but charged us the Max for something quite simple. That is just wrong. IF YOU HAVE AN EMERGENCY - DO NOT TAKE THE RISK OF STOPPING HERE!!!! Sadly... This is the 4th time time that my family has had to visit VIKs! The first 3 times were great but that was during the day. Tonight was a disaster. My son injured himself at practice tonight so we raced to VIKs at 9:30pm which is the worst time to visit this place. There were 4 ladies sitting around doing nothing. When I told them that I needed help getting my son out of the car they said that they couldn't help. They didn't even try to help. There was ZERO urgency. They asked if I had anyone that could help me. They didn't even want to talk with him. I've just lost all confidence in this ER. I fortunately found the Lakeway Hospital ER on 620 which was only a few miles away. They brought 3 ladies out that helped get my son out of the car and into a wheel chair so that he could get looked at by a Doctor within minutes! VIKs is NOT to be trusted once the sun goes down. The night shift is 180 degrees different than the day shift. But then again, why take the risk at all! read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! especially if you are pregnant! The only reason I am giving one star is because the nurses​ were kind. Other than that, I have had nothing but the absolute worst experience I've ever had at an emergency facility...and I'm a nurse!! I went there to make sure I was not having a miscarriage. The MD was not knowledgeable on anything to do with pregnancy and his information he was giving me was nothing short of a guess. I left with more questions than answers, on top of his bedside manner was terrible. He had absolutely no delicacy when talking to me and my bf about the situation and became agitated when pressed for any clarification. I had labs drawn that I was told would be in Monday. I was also given a script by MD for follow up labs which were completely wrong and I had to call my OBGYN for lab oders because the MD never returned my call when asked if he could correct his mistake. I called Monday as told to do. The person I spoke to was rude and very unhelpful. I was told my results weren't in, that I'd have to call Tuesday. Called Tuesday, spoke to a guy named Max who has been rude, condescending, and completely dismissive! He said the results won't be in until Wednesday. It is now Wednesday and I am being told my HCG results, which should only take 15 min to process, still aren't in and have yet to get a call back. My results from my other Md were immediate. I've had to go to the facility, call everyday, I have been completely disregarded and given the run around, all the while terrified I may have miscarried. Absolutely do not come here it is a waste of time and money!! read more

My husband was having respiratory and blood pressure issues on Christmas Day. I took him here, the staff worked on him for 4 1/2 hours trying to stabilize his blood pressure. They were kind, caring, and even offered us the food they had brought for themselves. He ended up in the hospital and the doctor called him at the hospital a couple of days later to check on him. I could hear them talking to one another while waiting in my room and you can tell they have a really great team and good work energy. Dr. Hatia was my doctor and she was so knowledgeable and helpful. She was well versed in using food as medicine in place of over the counter methods and I appreciate that functional approach. Do not go to this ER/Urgent Care if you're looking for anything urgent or fast. I was originally told my wait was 40 minutes. Currently, sitting at 2 hours. They just now informed us there's another ER that is only a few miles away with no wait. I asked the nurse twice what the time wait here was, and she couldn't give me an answer. The nurses are inexperienced and air headed. They said the cause of the wait was due to cleaning. They are also all towards the back desk gossiping. No work being done & haven't even seen a glimpse of the doctor. It does not take 2 hours to clean a 5x5 room. Worst experience I've ever had at an Urgent Care and will NOT be coming back. read more

Took my 16 mo old daughter on a Sunday because she'd been crying at bedtime for three straight nights, and at her visit to the pediatrician's the day before she was misdiagnosed by the nurse practitioner who saw her. The staff was friendly and polite, the billing was reasonable, and most importantly, the doctor who saw her had the right diagnosis! An added bonus is that the doctors called twice, once just to follow up and once to discuss lab results. I'm very pleased with our experience at this ER, especially since, because of Covid, my kids' pediatricians office has made it so difficult to see the doctors in person and require virtual visits first maybe followed by an examination out of my car, even when (as in my daughter's case) the symptoms have absolutely nothing to do with Covid. My husband and I had some minor emergencies and we ended up at Vik's. The service was good and the we were triaged fast, but... in a few months the bills started adding up. The insurance company wouldn't pay because they said the bills are unjustifiable, so we had to pay them out of pocket. It's ridiculous. They charge thousands of dollars for minor stuff. Wow! If you have an emergency, you're better off going to the ER in Lakeway. Stay away from this place, otherwise you'll be paying through your nose. read more

Beware! Our families Insurance was billed greater than $9,000 for 4 people to get assessed for cold and cough symptoms and to check if an antibiotic prescription was needed. The facility is both a Walk-In Clinic and an ER. However, during our visit, no one disclosed that we would be processed as an ER visit. The website of Complete care has a section that states Urgent care should be sought for Strep Throat, RSV, Cold and Coughs etc and Emergency Room for Heart Attacks, Head Injuries etc. We clearly came in for the Urgent Care. The prices charged for the services are extremely high. As an example, my wife had a COVID test done and the billing was $4,671. My assessment was billed at greater than $1800. I simply had temperature, pulse, blood pressure and breathing assessment done which took about 15 min. I would strongly caution anyone to think twice about visiting this facility. And if you do, ensure you are not being processed in the ER and that you are aware of how high the bills submitted will be for services. Finally, it should be known in our case, the assessment given for our son was medically inaccurate. We had to ultimately take our son to our Pediatrician to be reassessed and he indeed he had the exact diagnosis as we all received. We are brand new to the area and this is a really poor way to learn about which medical facilities to use and not to use. My youngest slipped and fell. We thought she broke her tail bone. Took her to Vik, where my family has been going since he started in Westlake, and she was seen quickly and LOVINGLY. Without going too far into it, she had lost her mother to suicide 4 months ago and my wife and I had recently won custody. She was very scared to go to the Dr. and was greeted and cared for "like she was family". She even asked if they "knew us". We had a slight problem when we were checking out and were mistakenly informed that we were charged $50.00 for a Motrin. I called and was misinformed again but then was routed to David. He took the time to discuss the medication concerns I had and quickly corrected the misinformation and continued to answer, patiently, all my heated questions. Just because of David's time and patience they deserve a 5 star but for the other persons mistake I had to pull one star. read more
