Tiffany's was my second stop (out of what was supposed to be four different appointments) to look…read moreat wedding gowns. Long story short, I never went to stops 3 and 4 because I found "the one" at Tiffany's! I'm not a girly-girl, and I went in saying I didn't want anything "too fluffy, too poofy, too lacy, or too embellished." Not exactly the easiest task for a wedding dress salesperson. My consultant found a gorgeous dress that met all my wish-list items. The lights actually went off in the store as she was helping me into it - a true sign that this was it! I didn't expect to have "a moment," being the not-so-girly-girl that I am, but this dress brought me to tears. I can't wait to wear it in March!

Let me start this off by saying that I am not someone who writes a lot of reviews but I had such a…read morebad experience that I felt the need to warn any other brides from feeling as defeated in their bridal appointment as I did. My appointment was this past Saturday. My experience at this bridal store was horrible. When myself and my party entered, we were told to pull some dresses that we liked while we waited for my consultant. My consultant told my party to "calm down" with all the picking after they chose 3 dresses and never introduced herself to my family. My consultant at didn't seem like she was listening to any of my preferences. The situation seemed like she was choosing dresses that she liked. Throughout the appointment, she continued to pull dresses that were, over budget, the wrong material ( she kept pulling dresses with so much tulle) and overall not my style that we discussed. Every dress she pulled was either 6 sizes too large or 4 too small so I was unable to get an accurate depiction of what the dress was going to look like on myself. I am not a picky person but it truly was awful. Every critique I had about the dress, was followed by her saying that it could be fixed with a strap or removal of beads, or a completley changing the structure of the dress or some other very expensive alteration. While I did appreciate her trying to fix the problem, she never differentiated from the style of dress that she pulled ( that were huge, heavy and had about 15 layers of tulle). My consultant never helped me by adjusting any of the dresses, ( she also never helped me put any of them on either). She never helped fluff the train or hold it so I could walk. My future mother in law had me attempt to tuck the material between my legs to see what the dress could look like on her knees. Her reaction to my family having to help was was very aloof. She also didn't seem like she had a very good knowledge of the inventory of the store. She would leave me on the stage in a dress that was very uncomfortable for several minutes while looking for "just the dress" and return with the exact same style that i had told her I didn't want. I stated what I wanted several times to her. I didn't even leave the dressing room to show my party a few of the dresses and she would argue with me. The last and perhaps the largest issue I had was that all of the dresses either myself or my guests chose were continuously intentionally placed to the back of the rack to try on by her. When my mother and cousin moved them to the front, she moved them to the back again and seemed annoyed. When my mom asked " can we please see her in this dress?" after about the 9th dress that I didn't like , my mom was ignored and was given a sour attitude. This was my second bridal appointment ever trying on a wedding dresses and I can tell you that if I hadn't had such a positive experience at the shop i had been to earlier in the day, I would have been in tears and this would have ruined the bridal dress experience. I'm writing this review based off my terrible experience in the hopes that the shop management will read it and make some major changes in how they treat their customers.

I was warned that a new dress would be cheaper, but I didn't want to risk it not arriving in time or the sizing still being not quite right. It was well worth the cost to have the dress fit perfectly. Oksana instantly saw the problems and got to work when I arrived at her shop. It took 45 minutes for her to pin everything in place, and I really appreciated her thoroughness and focus. In the end she had to hem it and take it in significantly at the waist and under the arms, which involved multiple layers of different fabrics, removal and reapplication lace appliques and an attached belt, and reshaping the entire top. She priced out each individual alteration so I knew exactly how much it would cost for each step. The turnaround time was very fast for how much work she had to do and how busy her shop is, and when I came back to try it on it was perfect. I received many compliments and plan on wearing it to future formal events.

Second of all, I love that Shakespeare used the term by-gone in 1611 in his The Winter's Tale! Recently, my daughter was invited to a Great Gatsby gathering and where would you go to find the perfect outfit? Bygones, of course! We not only found the perfect flapper dress, but we also found some fabulous headpieces, feathered headbands and beaded purses. (Most of the clothing is vintage but they also offer lovely, high quality, reproductions!). There's a men's department in the back for your dapper gents! We love crinoline! To perk up an otherwise passé dress, add crinoline! They have a large selection of colors here! The store is divided into decades, so you can find just about every era of clothing and accessories at this vintage, retro, funky store. They sell some "rockabilly" dresses, hippie styles, and yes, even disco! They even carry top hats, aviator gear, fishnet stockings and so much jewelry in those elegant glass cases! In the corner up front, I always look at at vintage greeting cards and postcards and never leave without purchasing a few. And I stopped in my tracks when I saw the glamorous rack of sunglasses! Check out my pic to see my recent haul! I love the cat eye glasses, the antique glass powder jar with the embossed lid, the 1940's Corday clutch and the Whiting and Davis mesh clutch, and the vintage bow brooch! Expect to drop a pretty penny at this unique boutique, but after all, they specialize in rare items. I can't stroll through Carytown with stopping at Bygones! By all means, let Bygones be Bygones! Indeed!
