My mother, Laura Williams, was one of the original residents in Independent Living and everything…read morewas wonderful. Until. She had a stroke in 2024 and would need Skilled Nursing. They initially refused to allow her to return wh n she was to be discharged from Rust Medical Center because they said they couldn't provide the types of therapists she would need. When they finally admitted her, they failed in every way possible to care for her. They failed to feed her. They failed the bath her. They failed to give her her medication appropriately. She was allowed to fall out of bed twice and took no precautions to protect her. I have this on video because of our concerns, we placed a camera in her room. I also reviewed all of her medical records. Everything is documented, however, our state agencies failed her as well and did not hold The Neighborhood accountable. AND, I had the families of at least two other residents reach out to me to report similar failure in treatment. I also spoke to a few nurse about the problems and they were ultimately fired. If you care for your loved one, DO NOT place them at The Neighborhood. (THIS WILL LIKELY BE REMOVED).

The caregivers, especially Rachel and Kristen, are marvelous with my mother. She can be quite a handful but they handle every catastrophe with grace and ease. Darral, the chef, fixes wonderful meals. If my mother doesn't want to eat what they are serving, then he finds something else that she will eat. But overall the food is delicious and nutritious. The other care givers at this facility are wonderfully patient with the occupants and try to make them feel comfortable, considering the circumstances. It as close to a home setting as you can get.

Sadly those final months occurred during the Covid pandemic and as everyone knows that changed life in countless ways for just about everyone. Assisted living environments and homes for the aging were affected in the saddest of ways. Visits from loved ones occurred thru windows, hugs from family members and loved ones became virtual. It was during these difficult days that we watched the staff at Beehive Homes provide for our mom all of the things that because of the pandemic, we ourselves could not do. We watched a kind and compassionate staff assist our mom throughout the day to do things she, previous to her fall, had always done for herself. We saw a staff that delivered encouragement , and a staff that guarded and honored our moms dignity. Today while the loss of our mom has left my siblings and I with a sad and wounded heart, that same sad wounded heart is filled full , it overflows with gratitude for all of the love, the kindness and encouragement, the nurturing and compassionate care that our mom received from all of the staff at Beehive Homes. My father really likes the food and all the employees are just terrific. I'm so grateful to have a place like Casitas to care for an elderly parent, especially when you are an only child. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Vanessa and Monica, the owners. They keep on top of everything from medication to general care to appointments. They are outstanding in the cleanliness, the care and the overall atmosphere. Everyone is kind, gentle and friendly. My father receives 24-hour care. His comment is always "I'm treated like a King!" They have opened a second facility on Academy Street. I have seen both homes and they are both gorgeous. I have tremendous relief and freedom. I am eternally grateful for Casitas.

They cheat our elderly. When I moved my Mom in almost 2 years ago, we had high hopes. But as time…read moreprogressed the food got worse and worse. When the residents complained about it, I personally heard the main chef snap at a couple of the residents. My Mom kept a clean apartment in the Independent Living. It was so nice that when they had prospective tenants come in, they would use my Mom's apartment for their tours. However, everything changed when I decided to move out of state and decided to take my Mom with me. When the movers finished we had the Maintenance guy come in for inspection. Before he was even all the way in her bedroom he said they'd have to replace the carpet. There was nothing wrong with it. I asked him why and he stated that he could see where she walked from the bathroom to the closet with her walker. (Normal wear for a Senior Living Facility? ) Seriously it wasn't bad at all but by how quickly he came up with it, I knew it was planned. Then he went to the spare bedroom that she never used and said there was a stain on the carpet. We told him it was there when she moved in. He said go talk to the Administrator Liz. So by the time I got up there she had already been informed that I was coming. She came out like a wet hen ready to fight. I reminded her that the stain was there when we moved Mom in. She said "show me in writing " she said that we should have filled out the checklist in Mom's lease. (The lease is 60+ pages that they had my Mom sign Docusign. How many nanogenerians do you know that understands Docusign? She would have had to print it and fill in the checklist. The Docusign is a PDF file so we couldn't add it to the agreement. My Mom told the office gal when she first moved in but nothing was written down. It didn't matter. They are charging my Mom for new carpet. What a way to treat our elderly. I know they are hurting for money but this is unethical and shameful. I'm personally glad my Mom isn't there anymore. I wonder how my Seniors have been taken advantage of like this..

She was at first reluctant to go but now has loved everything there. The staff from healthcare to housekeeping is fantastic! They have called me when something important comes up concerning her. Pat, the memory care co-ordinator is great and Liz, the RN, are very caring people not only with residents, but also with family. We don't know how we can ever repay their kindness.
