The Trail does not have much shade and some part of the trail are very gravely. Make sure to wear sun protection and comfortable trail shoes. If you're not used to steep incline, bring trekking pole would help. The trial is pretty stright forward, you will run into a few splits, if you want to hit the doppler, then keep going to your left. I consider this a safe trail and there's mobile reception most of the way. Oh! also, be safe and watch out for the bikers. Some will not use the bell and will come right behind you! Parking is limited, street parking only on Foothill, right in front of the trail.

It's a necessity because my friend and I got bit up by insects, and this trail guides you along the small river beds. Try to bring a hiking stick as well, due to steepness at certain areas & to protect yourself from stepping on any rattlesnakes. Always pay attention to which trails you take because it can get quite confusing when you try to head back to the entrance...there's so much vegetation there. I barely saw any people take this same trail so I'd recommend to bring a group of friends to hike with you. This trail is definitely different, it's more of a explore at your own risk type of place since your hiking into the Corona Canyon, but it's quite peaceful to be surrounded by the sounds of nature. We did find the Old Tin Mine that seemed a little creepy, though we didn't hike to the end due to high vegetation/no visible trail and we stayed safe by heading back until next time we come back. Overall, please be safe when visiting this area & watch out for wildlife. :)

You will take the pavement way all the way up to the entrance to tin mine. If you break off to the right, that's ALL incline and known as skyline trail. However, tin mine is not too difficult about 6,000 steps one way. Major plus is that a majority of it is shaded but you are also experiencing a lot of rocky terrain. It's a calming trail and is absolutely beautiful in the fall with all the fall leaves. However, there are no epic city views. You do encounter the old mines but they are boarded up now. Also a bummer because the hike ends abruptly. We did manage to go a little further then the trail end sign because we were expecting more but the boulders were becoming difficult to climb and didn't want to risk any injury. Otherwise, not much incline just some boulder climbing. Please note a lot of poison ivy along this hike so I recommend a long sleeve shirt. Otherwise, there is no cell service once you start trekking tin mine, but will pick back up once you hit the pavement down. Also there is NO residential parking allowed so be sure to park on the street (see photos attached).

It's a really short walk to the trail entrance and if you download AllTrails app, the trail is an estimated 3 hr hike, 4.4 mi total. Looking forward to visiting it again since the trail looks well maintained.

I don't recommend this trail if you're a newbie or new to difficult trails. To the west, it'trail gets easy long winding paths which lead to carbon canyon. To the east, its hilly and multiple trails can be found heading deeper into the trail network system. From 1 mile to over 20 miles of trails can be found, many of which will be exciting, tough and challenging. Take water, take snacks, don't liter and be careful with the sun ; as it can get very warm during the summer. there are Great morning sceneries and fantastic sunset views. Bathrooms exist only at the stagging areas. overall, the areas present a quiet simple and affluent neighborhood. Possible horse trails are available, chk website or the city parks page for more information. Review 30/365 day challenge 2.04.26…read more Finally made it here to PC for a late morning hike w my hiking Gfren Pow. She's a regular here and been coming. Have told mee several times she loves this hike and it's a good hike where it's a bit more busier than other hiking trails that you feel safe to go to. Started the hike a little late morning around 11:15 a.m. and finished right before 12:40 p.m. A little over 4 miles. We went to a much easier hike trail. Where it was much shading area until you enter the hiking trail and then it was full of sun. Luckily it was a bit breezy so wasn't too fully hot. There's different areas to park, some where it's free of charge and they have the main parking where supposedly have av actual public restroom for $ 3. We parked near some residential area. Right before entering the entrance where the trail started, there was about 5 porter potties available. As all hikes there are warning signs of Rattlesnakes, poison ivy, mountain lions etc. Located in Tustin borderline of Orange. Not too far from Irvine Regional park off Jamboree. Will definitely return to hike here and check out the different trails.
