On 2/4/2019, I took our Subaru Outback to Walla Walla Transmission Specialists to have the tires…read morerotated and a fluid leak in the rear end checked. They did not inform me that there would be a charge to inspect for the leak and I did NOT authorize this charge. After inspecting my car, they gave me a written estimate to remove and replace the rear differential cover for $595. I consulted with my friend, who is a master mechanic, and he stated it was highly unlikely that this repair would be needed. I decided to get a second opinion and drove over to the Harley Swain Subaru dealership in Hermiston (over an hour drive each way). After their inspection, they found absolutely nothing wrong with my car and performed the inspection FOR FREE!!! They also stated that this type of repair was almost unheard of. I returned to speak to the owner of Walla Walla Transmission and expressed my dissatisfaction with their analysis of the problem. I also requested a refund of the inspection fee, as I did NOT authorize the charge. The owner was unapologetic and stated that the suggested repair was just 'their opinion' and did not seem to care that their analysis of the problem was wrong. We try to stay local and support businesses here in Walla Walla, but always recommend getting a second opinion. My experience with dealers has been negative, but to my surprise, this Subaru dealer is the exception. They have been honest, knowledgeable and very helpful. We have been extremely happy with Harley Swain and highly recommend them to other Subaru owners -- it is definitely worth the drive.

Ya never really know what to expect when you go to a new mechanic. But I would highly recommend Steve at Argo. He was able to turn my bad situation into a good one. Thanks for being honest and fair.

I took my car into Argos after another mechanic was unable to "get a code" to fix my slipping…read moretransmission. I was told over the phone that "general mechanics don't know how to pull the code like a transmission specialist would" and that they "could force the code" so I decided to trust the expert. The man at the desk was very nice and I was told almost immediately (before even looking at my car) it was probably a grounding wire issue and they would call me with a quote for the fix and an over sure transmission flush. I was later called and told they would need the car overnight for repairs and they believed it would be around $350-$400. The next day I was called and told they needed to do 3 flushes and the grounding wire stuff so the total would be closer to $450 or $500 on the high end. When I was finally able to pick up the car the total was $612. I was fine with that as long as the car was fixed even though it was $100+ over what I was quoted last. THE NEXT DAY the transmission slipped again. Argos was closed for a long weekend so I wasn't able to bring my car back until the following Tuesday. That weekend it happened 4 more times... nothing was fixed or even improved so I don't know what the grounding wire work was for. Upon taking the car back my husband was told point blank that they "don't know what is wrong with the car." Awesome. He was told the they were going to "call a friend on the east coast who specializes in Mazda transmissions and see what he suggests". Why wasn't that done in the first place? I don't know. Frustrated, I googled the issue myself and found a few possible solutions. I called the closest Mazda deal ship to get information about what it might be and a quote for a fix. A week goes by and the issue is getting worse and we still haven't heard back from Argos. I finally call and the guy basically admits to consulting a chat room for car repairs and found the same information I did. Not what I would expect from a specialist. At that point I lost all confidence in Argos and their ability to accurately fix the issue without wasting more of my time and money on failed fixes. I will give Argos two stars because the guy at the front desk was nice, even if this was the worlds most expensive transmission flush.

I trust the guys here at this Valvoline location. They might not always be the cheapest but I…read moreoperate a very busy lifestyle and convenience is where it's at for me. Whether it's a quick oil change (usually what I come here for) or a transmission fluid flush, I know I can always count on these guys to do a good job in a short amount of time with no appointment needed. The guys here are friendly and helpful. They also don't push too hard to sell you any additional services that are "due." If you're just getting a simple oil change or a fluid flush, I definitely recommend Valvoline to anyone here in the valley!

It pains me to write negative reviews, but people need the resources to make decisions…read more I recently visited Valvoline after needing an oil change and loving that I didn't need to get out of my car. As a parent, this convenience seemed amazing. Upon my arrival, 2 cars were in front of me and I was greeted within a few minutes and the process explained. Im thinking to myself, "wow, I like this." I'd also gotten recommendations and thought I'd be paying less than my previous establishment. Pull in for my turn and I'm told my oil change would be $99! I'm already in the bay and was not about to leave at this point. (This was $20 more than my previous establishment that included a 16 point vehicle inspection, tire rotation and car wash). I was immediately told I needed a new air filter, which was coincidentally on sale. I was shocked because it had just been changed 6 months ago (for the first time I might add) and my previous establishment told me they don't even check it, they just recommend per mileage which happened at 60k miles. So I obliged as they showed a dirty filter. Toward the end of my visit, the service manager mentioned my fan was still running but proceeded as though this was normal. I'm no car person but I also hadn't driven much in the last 2 months so I thought maybe my car was just trying to cool. I get home and it ran for 4 minutes. Over the next 18 hours, I made 3 trips each resulting in 4 minutes of my fan running each time. My check engine light also came on. As I became nervous and needing to return to work the next day, I managed to find a mechanic to take a look. As I explained the scenario, he immediately noticed a wiring that was completely unhooked (picture attached after hooked back up to show location). Thankfully I didn't wait because who knows what damage could have evolved. I called the 1-800 number. They apologized and offered me a coupon and forwarded to the manager. He calls me and blames training by the previous manager and claims he will talk to the techs. I explain that he was the one working on my car and he says "I'd have to watch cameras." Luckily I *only* spent $111 for the 20 minute convenience of not getting out during covid, but it's clear they only care about making money as quickly as possible and not about potential expensive mistakes along the way. I definitely won't be returning.
