They are apart of the nationwide program. which means anyone from any y is basically allowed. last 2 visits have been horrible. our first time which was a month ago. they wasted our time. made sign the same waiver 4 times. while a man was eyeing us up and down the entire time. which as 2 diverse kids in a not so diverse town. wasn't quite comfortable. then the man soon tells us only adults in the gym. Which was a complete lie because there were many kids of different ages. and they finally allowed us in after everyone left. but then yesterday. So so rude. Same group but i got there early, so they give ME no problem, except the eyeing. So after an hour i go into town to get some food. i meet my friends, and we were gone no more then 30-40 minutes. They "let" me through but give my friend a hard time. we needed the waiver SIGNED again. his parents are busy, and the last time they said we can use a guardians email as long as they over 21. but the lady gets really defensive. And starts saying no you can't. But the same man was there both times and witnessed it both. getting into a particular stance as if we were going to try to attack someone. while i'm trying to explain to peggy, she interrupts and calls over a very disrespectful MADELINE. and says "these kids don't understand anything and won't listen" Ma'am we listened but we tryna explain you something. so madeline comes and says "we don't need to answer anything, they can leave". i try to keep my cool but honestly it bothered a lot. she gets all defensive and starts being rude. while we are simply just trying to play basketball. so she continues with her rudeness. and threatens us with a ban. While the man is looking all dumb, like i wasn't here an hour ago and says "you can go into the open gym, because your from a different YMCA it's a recent law." sir i was there literally an hour ago and i know he saw me before because he called us out and even said he knew where we from. so we walk out and i come back in and ask for their names. NEVER AGAIN. $1300.00 down the drain…read more I lost my brows due to very low thyroid function last year and decided to finally have my brows done. I made an appointment (and by the way, you need to pay a 50% "non-refundable" deposit when you make an appointment, which should've been my first red flag) I was also shocked that the service was $1300.00. But, stupid me, for that price, I thought that meant my brows were going to look exceptionally great The day of my visit, I showed Courtney a picture of myself so that she could clearly see what my brows normally look like and what I expected them to look like. She assured me that that's what they would look like. After close to two hours and toward the end of the procedure, she told me that my skin was "tough" When she was done, I looked in the mirror expecting to see brows like I showed her in my picture. Instead, my "brows" resembled two thin, auburn worms across the tops of my eyes (my brows are normally thick and dark brown). Courtney assured me they'd look better after my second appointment. To say I was disappointed would be a vast understatement, but I made my "follow-up" appointment for a few weeks later (an additional fee, by the way), paid my remaining 700.00 and left. By day two, my brows were back to being bare, all traces of the "work" Courtney did were completely gone. The following day, I had an appointment with my dermatologist (who's office also does brows and other services), who could not believe I had anything at all done to my brows. He also couldn't believe I was charged for "What??? What did she charge you for? You have absolutely NO eyebrows". I was completely humiliated. The following weekend I was at a party with two women who own a brow bar. When I showed them my (non-existent) brows and told them about my experience, they couldn't believe I had anything done at all, as there were absolutely no traces of ink on my brows, nor was there any "peeling". They also couldn't believe the amount of money I paid and both encouraged me to reverse the charges, as services were not rendered. The following day, I called my bank and did reverse the $1300.00 charge back to my bank account. I also immediately sent Courtney a text as well as a voicemail letting her know that the "brows" were completely gone, that I had reversed the charges and questioned her services. She immediately called me saying she let me know my "skin was tough" during the procedure. Yet, instead of stopping the procedure, knowing it wasn't going to work, she kept going and then had the nerve to charge me $1300.00. She also told me on the call that she needed to be paid for her "time". She had absolutely no interest in the fact that I wasted MY own time being there, nor the fact I didn't receive the services promised. She did offer to have me come back so she could make it right, but by this time (when I told her my dermatologist laughed when he saw my brows three days after my procedure and didn't believe I had anything done, Courtney became extremely defensive and told me she didn't give a "F" what my dermatologist thought), I had absolutely no faith in her, as she could have "made it right" during my first visit, or stopped the procedure completely once she saw my brows were "not taking the ink". Instead, she gave me crap brows which disappeared 48 hours later and had the audacity to charge me for them. I wanted to end the call, so I told her I'd be back. However, after speaking to others in the field, they strongly advised me NOT to return to her. I then sent a text telling her I had a face peel and was advised not to have my brows done for a few more weeks, to which she replied it was fine for me to come even though I'd had a face peel. Which I was absolutely not going to do. I canceled the follow-up. I had already been through too much with this woman and had absolutely no faith in her. Also, after her cursing regarding my dermatologist, I saw an unprofessional anger which made me very uncomfortable. Fool that I am, I actually reversed the charge so that she did get her full 1300.00, when I should've filed a police report for theft of service. However, I just wanted to be rid of this woman, who charged me $1300.00 for a service I never received. I'm not sure which was worse, the fact that she kept working on my brows when she knew damn well the ink wasn't taking, or that she charged me for a service I never received. We live and learn. I took the spring and summer months off from this studio because I couldn't bear the thought of facing a heated room. Did hot yoga (Bikram) once at another studio. Never again! It was the single most disgusting class of my life. I was physically ill for days. I believe and have learned from other yogis that a hot room is not healthy, especially at my age (58), and not necessary at any age. You should not have to drink water during your practice as it too distracting. I had to drink water today at Summus because I felt lightheaded and weak. I was unable to fully enjoy the class because my energy level was diminished due to the heat. It was probably 90F in there. I don't see the need for temp to be above 75F.

And the monthly charges are indeed hefty but I've never had a run in with rude employees, busted or rude employees of contract switcheroo's - all of which you find at other gyms. So i look at this way: as we get older, we exercise or we're going to have problems sooner. I'm past the old fifties and this could be my last active decade. Our phones are softening us up and not for good but there's also age so why not go out spinning, lifting and grinnin'! And another positive observation, Ace - how they do it here - I can't tell you but daily, they're mixing kids, adults, the elderly and every stripe of our cultural landscape together under one roof without any apparent issues at all. That alone is worth whatever they charge. We could all learn from this. Reminds me of my beloved Denmark. Normalcy, kindness and respect. It's nice to go to a place that's as much Peace Time as Exercise Time which of course makes Lifetime. Yes it's not cheap but if you want cheap, you become cheap.
