A gas…read morestation near my house was selling them at a pretty outrageous price, but someone on Facebook mentioned a few other places that carried them for much less. I happened to be working out nearby, realized I'd driven past this market countless times, and figured it was the perfect opportunity to stop in. As soon as I walked inside, I spotted a freezer right by the register packed with Asia ice creams I'd never seen before. There were so many unique flavors that it was honestly hard not to grab one of everything. I ended up picking a nice variety, and I can't wait to work my way through them at home. The man behind the counter was incredibly friendly, and we chatted for a few minutes. I asked him which flavor was his favorite, and without hesitation he recommended the mango and the strawberry. Coincidentally, those were the two I was most excited to try as well. I didn't spend much time browsing the rest of the store because I was completely focused on my ice cream haul and getting it home before it melted. From what I did see, though, they seemed to have a great selection of Asian groceries and specialty products. I'll definitely be back to explore the aisles on another visit. It's always fun discovering foods from other cultures and trying something different. Experiences like this are a nice reminder that there's a whole world of flavors beyond the everyday foods most of us are used to.

Aldi Süd controls the U.S. chain of Aldi stores while Aldi Nord operates in the U.S. as Trader Joe's. ALDI opened its first U.S. store in Iowa in 1976 and now has more than 2,200 stores and is headquartered in Batavia, Illinois. While Trader Joe's has great prices, Aldi will beat them and just about everyone else's prices every time. You can still signs of that German heritage all over Aldi's like in their German line of products called Deutsche Kuche, which offers offers beer, chocolate, roasted coffee, and uncured Bavarian bratwurst. If you want to save money on groceries Aldi's is a great way to do it. In order to bring you those low prices Aldi's has instituted some cost cutting measures. If you want a cart you will need to bring a quarter and to get your money back you need to return your cart from the parking lot back to the store saving employees from having to collect the carts. You will also have to bring your own bags or pay for theirs. Sometimes I'll just grab some of their empty boxes. Lines used to be long because they keep their staff to a bare bones minimum but since they added self checkout I rarely wait in line anymore. This Aldi just opened in the Shoppes at the Heart of Tradition. I love a brand new Aldi store because they are spotless and fully stocked. Some of my favorite weekly items are the bottled green tea, K-cup French roast coffee, Fit 50 less sugar orange juice, bagged kale, and snapdragon apples. Of course I can never resist the latest home finds in the Aisle of Shame. I always grab the candles that fir in my favorite Bath and Body Works holders. My favorite recent discovery is the Italian Choco Wafers and the Maple Bacon Gouda Salad. This store is beautiful. Right now it is the only business open in this new plaza. I saw some local Tradition residents pulling up to shop in their golf carts. I was able to find everything I needed and was out in a flash. To celebrate the grand opening Aldi is giving away a $500 gift card.

Overpriced everything? They have it. Bizarre and entirely unnecessary products? Loads. Old ladies…read morepushing dogs in strollers? Absolutely everywhere. We were going for coffee which we never found. We bought a couple of pastries that were solid B- category and yet priced at a higher amount than the fantastic bakery near where we live (in San Diego so its not a cheap place). Blows my mind this place even exists. The people mostly seemed friendly? I'm kind of grasping at straws to find a reason to give that second star.

A gentleman who was stocking paper towels stopped what he was doing when I asked where to find an item and walked me over to find it. I actually have had to tell someone I don't want to pull them away, just tell me what aisle to go to. The fresh produce has very nice people who give you big genuine smile and say "good to see you again!". The meat section has such smart and helpful people who are willing to teach you. I questioned on gentleman about grinding my own meat and he showed me my options, told me what each would do for flavor. He was awesome! Just yesterday another gentleman helped me find a 7 lb spiral ham. There weren't any in the bin so he sent someone to look in back and then tracked me down with the smaller ham. So nice. I love this place. I appreciate how difficult it can be to serve the public but these guys got the recipe right. Highly recommend.

The building stands out since it is a canary yellow with the moniker emblazoned across its storefront in black letters. Not hard to miss. Inside, it is a cozy chocolate shop that sells different kinds of chocolates, box chocolate sets, and even ice cream. Needless to say I was impressed by the selection. The center island seems to be where the bulk of their chocolate is located, or at least what seems to be the chocolate made in their factory which is also viewable through the glass window. I personally like white chocolate and was happy they had a nice selection of white chocolate covered foods and nuts, and pralines. Amazingly, they also show much love for people who need sugar-free substitutes and there is a section in the glass case set aside for them. Just like all chocolate places, it is relevantly smaller than the rest. The service was very nice and they did their job well helping out those who need help. The lady working there was very nice and showed me the Tasty Kake Chocolate Cupkcakes that I asked about. I bought the last 4 boxes and Nature's Own Buttertop Bread with a few other items. The prices were incredible with great savings over Publix, Winn Dixie, and even the nearby Aldis. The last was patient and helped me even tho they were almost closed. I would definitely recommend the store. I live in Lake Worth but still am driving up there to stock up because her prices were that good.

This changed during WWII when TastyKake sent out their snacks all over the world to deployed soldiers. The company expanded and in 2011 was sold to Flowers Food. I found this TastKake outlet while out and about in Port St. Lucie. Normally I tend to stay away from this kind of food due to it's high fructose corn syrup and hydrogenated vegetable oil but it's a pandemic and nothing is more comforting than something that reminds you of your childhood like a TastyKake. They had a selection of Nature's Own Bread for only 99 cents. Bread is one of the items that is sold out in my local stores. Cereal was an amazing 3 for $6. Besides the usual selection of Tastykake pies, cakes, brownies, donuts, and danishes they also carry chips, crackers, Welch's fruit snacks, and other pantry items. My favorite TastyKake is the Butterscotch Krimpet first created in 1927. A box was only $1.33 and aren't too terrible at 220 calories. I am also a fan of the Coconut Juniors. While a TastyKake isn't a health food, I will be enjoying my Butterscotch Krimpets, in moderation of course.
