Immense crowds of people and 45 minute lines to get drinks await you if you go during their busy hours. It's a shame because the food and drinks are all very good and cheap. I wish they had more bartenders or better ways to deal with the massive influx of people that come past 10:30PM. The bathroom situation is something to be desired as the women's line typically is always 5-10 people long and only has one toilet on the second level. The men's upper restroom has no dividers nor stall walls or doors leaving their men's bathroom to have an "open concept" floor plan and I've had some interesting run ins with people using the restroom. Terrible place, the bartender or waitress who was an older women is on something. Me and a friend went there one night and an older guy asks my buddy how much he would pay for that bartender! This place is pretty sick. They have I think 36 drafts on tap at any given moment, and happy hour puts everything at half price, every day, from 8-10pm Perfect for catching a playoff game in pretty much any sport, considering they have TV's lining the outer wall and the inner wall around the bar, with usually 3 or 4 different games on depending on the season. The prices for craft beers are unbeatable. Pints of beers that'd usually run you $10-$12 for a 6 pack, for anywhere between $1.25-$2.00. A great place for people who really like good beers, sure they have Miller Lite and all that water-beer, but why torture yourself when you can get a hefeweizen, creamy stout, pale ale, or IPA for under 2 bucks? read more

Beer boys, while located right in the college scene and pulling huge crowds of youngins, is a safe haven for the craft beer lover in wilkes barre. With a larger tap selection than even Arena B&G, beer boys is my favorite bar in WB. The happy hour is long and great, and the beer selection is full of craft beer mainstays and a constantly revolving stash of seasonals. Can't make up your mind? Order the paddle! When you finish your beers you can use it on the naughty young lady who you're sure to find not far from reach. Yes, the ratio there is usually pretty good and mostly filled with young people. Unless it's a UFC night, in which case you'd be best advised NOT to spank anyone with your paddle. Beer Boys airs just about every UFC fight, and they draw a whole lot of testosterone. As a lover of UFC, I don't really mind though. As far as food goes, the burgers are delicious, better than average I'd say, but not quite as good as Arena, or the heralded Anthracite. Their chicken fingers are also pretty tasty, but I'll be honest, I don't come here for the food. If I could count all the good times I've had here on two hands, I'd have some pretty weird looking hands. Highly recommended. read more

I do greatly enjoy walking through these doors. A few months ago my friends said "We are going to Beer Boy, you wanna come out?" My reply, "Where the hell is Beer Boys?" And the journey began. We took a ride and my taste buds and belly were very happy we did. On my first Pilgrimage there we took to the skies and sat up stairs. The down stairs bar being pretty crowded and we couldn't get near the bar. This normally turns me away, but I wasn't driving so I had no choice but to go on, full speed ahead. Once we got up stairs I was much relieved to see a bar I could get to and get my self a beer. I knew going in there was a great happy hour, but until I put my money down on the bar, and saw how much of it came back, I was a skeptic. This place has an amazing Happy Hour... and it is every day! On top of the great price you pay for your drinks, the selection of drinks is out standing. They have a great craft brew menu, and if you have read any of my other reviews you know I am a beer guy. They have like 30 some taps, and a huge bottle list. They carry a great variety of seasonal beers. And with such great drink prices, you can try some great beers and still walk out of there with a George Costanza wallet! There are only so many ways I can say I like their drink selection and prices, so we will move past that and head into their food department. You may think being so close to Wilks and Kings, they wouldn't care to much about food. It would be all about the drinks to get the kids in the bar, then they will eat anything. But you sir are wrong. The food is pretty damn good as well. Their quesadilla is awesome and flipping huge. They also have food specials depending on the day of the week. The only down side I can see here is the parking. The bar is on a narrow street and the lot is pretty small. But I always seem to get there early enough and get a spot. Also the proximity to the schools is plus in the regards to parking. This allows many of the student patrons to walk to the bar, rather than drive. I give Beer Boys and A+. read more

I've come to Beer Boys quite a few times, but it has sort has lost its luster with me. I used to go on Wednesdays for the dinner special, clams for 45 cents. they were good the first week I ordered them, but kind of fell off the next two weeks. The keep the glass special was also kind of cool at first, but they kind of ran out of the sponsored glasses and only had beer boys glasses after a while. I do like the pool table and Foosball table, those are great to have. The backyard is great for the summer and nice cigar too. I just wish the staff was a bit more personable and they could get the growlers filled up without issues. read more

Let me start this review by admitting that I avoided Beer Boys for my entire bar career, lasting 6 years. I must admit that I was wrong, particularly since the renovation of the bar. This is the only place in Wilkes-Barre with such a huge craft draft selection with over 30 on tap, and rotating. I was in heaven, lost in delirium. Oddly or not oddly if you know this city, Beer Boys doesn't attract the typical hipster bourgeois, often pretentious craft beer crowd. Rather, it remains mostly a locals bar with a college flair. It's filled with Coughlin graduates, King's students and North Enders. The prices are more than fair, and often criminally cheap for the quality of the beers. During the warm season, the patio is open and welcoming. Without a shadow of a doubt, the best place for craft drafts in Wilkes-Barre. read more

Pros: Crazy good craft beer selection, prices were great (all the older seasonal stuff was drastically cut down). Lots of seating even though it was really packed. Staff was very responsive and the bartenders knew what they were talking about. Cons: Was impossible to get into the bathroom, and it was incredibly smoke-filled. I normally don't have a problem with cigarette smoke, I smoke cigars, but it was a lot smokier downstairs then what I'm typically used to, even at a smoking bar. read more

Beer Boys is one of the reasons why I love going home to Wilkes-Barre. They have more than 50 quality drafts and the price cannot be beat. I went here for Happy Hour that ran from 9-11pm where all the drinks were half off except a few drafts. What does that mean for craft beer drinkers? Founder's Breakfast Stout ($2), Founder's Cerise ($1.75), Southern Tier Creme Brulee Stout ($2.50), and Dogfish Head 90 Minute ($2) at blow out prices typically seen at Ollie's Discount Warehouse! I felt bad because the beer was so under-priced but hey, its not my bar. These weren't old kegs either. The beer tastes as fresh as I have had it else where. The crazy part about it, is that all those beers I just listed were served as pints, not in tulip glasses or snifters. Its very easy to have a great time on only $20. They have great prices on domestics but I can't see how you could drink a Miller Lite with all the other exceptional beers to choose from at comparable prices. The only draw back to the happy hour pricing is that a few drafts are should be included in happy hour but I guess the manager didn't update it in the computer or they forgot to put it on the board. Either way, it should be more clearly marked or the customer should be given the benefit of the situation. Yes, I am being greedy! The interior was recently redone. The downstairs bar is huge and there are usually about 4-6 bartenders behind the counter so getting a drink is not usually a problem. Upstairs is more open and they host DJs and other live entertainment there. I stick with the downstairs bar. The only drawback to the downstairs bar is that there isn't much room between the chairs around the bar and the walls. Navigating toward the bathroom can be a bit difficult. Because of this layout, its hard to take a group of more than 6 people out and be able to see and talk to everyone without constantly readjusting your position They draw a large college crowd because of the proximity to Wilkes and Kings. I was probably the oldest person in the bar the two times I went. The crowd is usually chilled out and relaxed. People move out of your way when trying to make it to the bathroom which is nice. Then again, there is the occasional meathead D-bag, but I guess you'll have that at a college bar. I didn't have the food but the menu is typical wings, pizza, fries and other average bar food. Beer Boys does NOT have an ATM on the premises but they take both cash and credit card. There are plenty of servers who make sure you have a full glass. I didn't wait more than a few minutes to get a refill. They aren't pushy about getting another beer, unlike certain other places. I added Beer Boys to the list of must go places in Wilkes-Barre for good, cheap beer. With this place and the Arena, Wilkes-Barre is starting to finally get the craft beer movement. A perfect college bar. Service is alright, but it's usually packed on the weekends, so I don't blame them for not being extremely social. The prices are unbelievably cheap. It's a more relaxed setting than others in the area, it's not really a dancing sort of bar. Definitely a good place to come and just hang out. They also have a pool table. read more

This is in response to my previous review in August 2015. Since the neglectful service my party received last month, the management at Beer Boys went to great lengths to not only apologize for the problem, but change their policies. I respect the bar for immediately reaching out and watching the surveillance footage of the night we were there and for their sincere apology and assurance of more attentive service. I have not been there since the incident, however, people in our party have and said service improved. The bartender on staff that night even reached out to me personally to apologize. I don't know how its possible to serve beer and alcohol this cheap but Beer Boys does it. I seriously challenge someone to find a place with cheaper prices, because I don't know if it can be done. With that being said, every 21-30 year old in Wilkes-Barre knows that they can't beat these prices, so, on a Saturday night, it feels like every 21-30 year old in Wilkes-Barre is in this bar. I loved going here once in a while in college, but I quickly got over standing in a smoke-filled, obnoxiously loud, overly crowded bar with sticky floors, tables, and countertops as I waited 20 minutes to get shots. They do have a ton of TVs for games, lots of craft beer, and a cool event in glass night on Wednesdays, but it's those times where I literally could not move through the mass of humanity upstairs that sticks as the lasting memory in my mind for Beer Boys. read more

Was very disappointed with beer boys last night, if I could give them zero stars, I would. We sat at the bar and the glass lights above the bar were covered in dust and had a film of scum on them and they looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months. Would you want to eat under them, I didn't want to. The bar service was terrible, the bar tenders upstairs couldn't do more than pour one beer at a time, they couldn't take a pizza order while they were pouring that one beer, they didn't give us silverware or napkins with the food, we had to ask separately for them (which took about 10 minutes), then when we were done eating we purposely put our plates almost under the tap system and they would come over, pour beers over top of our dirty dishes and walk away. This happened for about 15 minutes before they took the dishes and moved them the 6 feet to the chute to send them back to the kitchen. Then I ordered more food and it took about 35-40 minutes get a half tray of pizza and when I was done, I did the same thing with my tray and they poured 4 sets of beers and walked away (multiple bartenders, which tells me that everyone had that "I dont care" mentality) before someone took the tray. We were sitting right in front of the tap system at the bar so its not like we walked over and set it down and walked away. The bar was occupied and they just didnt care that it was full of dirty dishes. They would take our empty glasses and walk away, rather than taking the glasses and asking if we needed something else to drink. Then when I got a chance to order a drink, I ordered a single of johnnie walker black lable straight up in a rocks glass (not that hard of a drink to pour lol), they served it to me in a dirty, sticky glass. I told them that the glass was sticky and the bar tender poured the the drink from the filthy, sticky glass into a new one and gave it back to me rather than pouring a new one. She didnt apologize, she gave me the excuse that their hands are sticky.... if your hands were sticky, wouldn't you clean them if your income was based on serving food and drinks? I know I would. Clean hands in a food service industry is a must. I was disgusted. We left and went to Rodanos and had a 5 star experience. read more

There are not many places open on weeknights that actually stay open til 2. Can always count on beer boys for great beer specials almost every night of the week. Bartenders are awesome. Not sure what other reviews are talking about. Can't get much better for the area! read more

I came here and loved it, can't recommend it enough. I am not much for beers but they have a great selection of like hundreds of different kinds of craft beers, and beer of all kind. The service is excellent. Bartenders are very friendly, even when this bar gets extremely packed, the bartenders are still nice. They all have really nice attitudes and try to be friendly, which is good to see. There is no cocktail menu here, no cocktails offered which might suck if you are a big mixed drink fan like me, but the bartenders offered to try to make a cocktail off the top of their head that they would know how to make anyway, and I really do appreciate the effort. Amazing beer selection- maybe the best draft selection in the area. The food is really great too. I have had the chicken cheese steak, a few of their burgers, waffle and regular fries. A few times the waffle fries have not been crispy, and other times they were perfect. The 3 stars is really because of the smoking- If I'm going to be enjoying good food and pay a little more for a nicer beer, I would rather not have to sit in a cloud of smoke. read more
