Lion ordered a Manhattan which he declared "nearly perfect". Food was very good. Lion got a burger & I got chicken strips. Both were well prepared and tasted good - basically good pub food. The venue is decidedly small, and I believe this is more set up to be a bar (on the previous nite we challenged the bartender to make an old-fashioned Singapore Sling with success) ...however the menu had some nice choices. Service for us was fine & we experienced no delays in getting drinks or entrees. Both entrees were nicely plated and came with nice edible posey garnish. My entree (Grilled Salmon) was quite good - maybe cooked just a tad more than my preference - but had good seasoning & flavor. My girlfriend's dish - entree's name escapes me - was good too, as I had the honor of getting a bite;) Ambience was not bad - they were playing 70's music ..a trip down memory lane :D ..but it wasn't too loud. We were there on a Sunday night and they closed at 10 PM. They are attached and inside the beautiful historic Raddison Hotel. Guests we're seated inside and out and we basically had the patio to ourselves! It's a pretty cool building, an old railroad station! Hence, "trax"! Our server was very friendly and the food was served so quickly we barely had time to get excited! We were very impressed. We had the shrimp cocktail appetizer and the shrimp were very large and the arugula was very fresh. The crabcake sandwich was delicious and the shrimp pad Thai was not the best for Thai I've ever had, but in a restaurant from Scranton, I expected what I got. Yummy nonetheless! We both actually fancied the Salmon on the menu but they were out of that dish. Atleast we knew it was fresh! My sparking water was served ice cold and so was the beer. Overall this was a great spot to stop into! During Covid, it was like a small slice of normalcy! Was a little scared by the negative reviews, but if you have ever been to Scranton, you'll understand that you don't want to wander the town at night without armed escorts or at least two pissed off Navy Seals by your side. So rather than risk getting shot, stabbed, or robbed I decided to give it a chance. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. And the wings?? Ordered them crispy with the sauce on the side and I must say they were some of the best wings I have ever had! The Carolinas bbq sauce was simply amazing with just the right amount of kick for my tender Irish belly. Stopped in for a late lunch after checking in to the hotel. Fabulous space (the entire building is) and I was surprised at the quality of the food. I ordered the 'cheesesteak dumplings' on the recommendation of the bartender and was expecting to find them no more than edible, but they were really good and plated nicely. The sauce, chunky with tomato and roasted garlic and grated parmesan, was surprisingly good too. Also ordered the harissa-spiced peanuts, which didn't taste much like harissa -- more like honey roasted -- but were good. All in all a pleasant surprise for hotel bar food. Four stars just for the decor and setting. Very well restored portion of the Lackawanna Railroad's former headquarters with tasteful colors, period decor and comfortable seating. My family eats here quite frequently and begged me to go for weeks. I started by ordering water and the shrimp cocktail. I believe it cost $12. During the long wait for the shrimp (which was excusable since they were steamed), I noticed that our server was going in and out of the side door with orders for other patrons. From years past, I remember Trax having a dedicated kitchen; it was clearly not in use if it still exists. After a few sips I also realized that my tap water tasted like dirt. The plate arrived with 5 small shrimp on it that weren't anything special and cocktail sauce that had to be right out of a can. For the price, it was a comical portion. We waited between 40 and 50 additional minutes for our angus burgers to come out. I ordered mine medium rare, and the person accompanying me ordered her's well done "but not charred". Mine looked large and tasty but it came out well done so it had absolutely no flavor. It was edible. The person joining me for lunch was served a burger that looked "like a piece of charcoal". She wasn't able to finish it. The lettuce was also limp and not in a suitable condition to be served. I was hoping to move Trax into my summer rotation but I suppose I'll have to try again next year. Such a great location and atmosphere.. wish it were a better experience. Appetizers are just okay... we had the giant pretzel once which was awesome. Not sure if the older male bartender is still there ... but man is he grumpy. One time we went there and were charged a different price each time we ordered a miller lite (it wasn't happy hour or anything like that). We made a joke of it and it almost became comical to see what he was going to charge us the next time around.. 2.50, 3.00, 2.75, 3.25.. who knows! I am very finicky about food and drink, and as such I ordered my dirty gin martini with very specific pointers as to ensure that I would get what I really wanted (extra olive juice and in-and- out on the vermouth, as I find it a bit soapy when there is more than that). In the meantime the bartender insisted on my sitting by the only other patrons at the bar (two older men), which I was clearly disinterested in. My martini arrived, light on the olive juice and heavy on the vermouth. I felt as if my requests were not only disregarded, but like there was no consideration for what I wanted that evening. My boyfriend and I were passing through Scranton and chose to hang out at Trax for the night, letting all of our friends know we would be available to join us should they have the time. Went here on a Monday afternoon. The bar is where we went to eat and we were greeted promptly by the older barkeep who took our drink order and things were fine. Nice older decor and fairly clean until we took a deeper look. The lemon in my wife's water glass was from the weekend and the water that came from the gun looked pink like the cranberry juice in her Cosmo. So, we would have been ok with the QC of the small stuff but the worst was yet to come. We ordered their Tomato, Mozzarella & Garlic Flatbread for $10 - Yikes. It was a frozen Giant Foods small pizza with fresh Tomatoes thrown on top! When we told the bartender he shook his head... lesson learned. Still charged us & we paid and tipped, but another tip don't order food here, or if you have to eat ask the bartender if there's anything that comes out of the kitchen that's edible. read more

We sat ourselves in the bar room, then proceeded to wait 45 minutes without even a glance, water, or menu from the staff...ten minutes later nothing! So, I went to speak with the manager and none were on shift to handle this. We went back to our room and ordered room service. I can't speak for the food because I've never eaten here but it's a perfect (historical) spot for a drink. There's an oval shaped bar, which I like and the bartender Rich is a walking historian so we enjoyed a nice conversation with him about the history of the area. There's an outdoor patio which overlooks a busy corner of Scranton and is just a few blocks away from Steamtown. I agree with the reviewers who said maybe this place isn't living up to its full potential... However, for us from out of town who occasionally visit/pass through Scranton, Trax is one of the few solid places to stop for a decent glass of wine so it works perfectly for us ;) read more

Located in the Radisson Hotel, a landmark train station in downtown Scranton, is this bat/restaurant that hosts a small portion of the Scranton Nightlife for the "out of their twenties" demographic. Usually not the first choice for the youth clubbers of the local colleges. Trax has a historic decor and plentiful room with an outdoor patio overlooking the busy Lackawanna ave, and the ehh Kildares bar and restaurant across the street. Not my first choice in views but when wanting to eat outdoors this will pass. The food is not anything to seek out for and their beer selection is very limited.
