My daughter started here when she was 3 years old. Before beginning at Guidepost, she had only ever been home with me. I was worried about how she would adjust to such a different environment, but I could tell she was ready for more. More social interactions, more challenging materials, just - more! So we took the leap, and I can say without hyperbole that enrolling her at Guidepost Montessori has been the best thing I have done for her as a parent. My daughter is a different version of herself after just a few months. She is so much more confident, and self-assured, and calm. Her social manners and abilities are more empathetic and observant than some adults. She had struggled with toilet training before school - she came home from the FIRST day of school completely out of diapers, even overnight, and hardly any accidents. She brushes her teeth, washes her face, helps around the house, sets the table, cracks eggs and stirs the dough when we bake, and is simply happy, and thriving, in a way that brings complete joy to me as a parent. I recently took her for her first full dental cleaning and exam, and the staff was blown away by her ability to follow every instruction calmly and happily. She enjoyed the visit, with zero tears or anxiety, and handled herself with grace. Each classroom is exquisite, both in cleanliness and purposefulness in the materials inside. The guides, director, and assistant director emulate have created an environment where children's souls are allowed to explore real world activities and what they enjoy, Montessori principals to the core. This school is not like other daycares, I even struggle with calling it a daycare (therefore I don't,) as it is so much more than that. My daughter was going to a stellar traditional daycare and was doing very well. As I was a Montessori child, we knew that we wanted to have our children have some Montessori education. She transitioned to Guidepost at 8 months and, my goodness, did we see a difference. We thought she was blossoming at her other daycare, but nothing compared to the happiness that we found in her immediately upon starting to attend here. There is not the level of chaos, disorder, or crying children as can be found at other places. If you live in the Raleigh area and are looking for a great preschool... STOP LOOKING. This is the place! We switched from another spot and came to Guidepost several months ago and couldn't be more happy. And to underline this point: our old preschool was a 3 min drive from our house, while this one is more like 25 min+ in traffic - but I will gladly sacrifice convenience and make this drive every day to make sure our little one stays here. The Montessori program is just what our little one needs - we literally saw a difference in his behavior, habits, and development within mere days of coming here. The teachers are incredibly caring and always loop us in on how the day went - even details that seem minor, they make sure to let us know how everything went. The leadership staff at the school is also so caring and present. I sometimes joke that they never seem to go home... I saw in another review that calling this place a "Daycare" seems inaccurate - it's a school. It's a great school! So many great activities including plenty of outdoor time when the weather allows and activities that teach perfect habits. Many evenings after coming home we'll notice a new skill that was learned at school that transfers over to home. I was a rookie to the Montessori program before coming here, but after just a few months I'm a true believer. Words cannot begin to describe how blessed we are to have found Guidepost Montessori at Spruce Tree. We have had some unpleasant experiences with other local daycares and after visiting 10 different daycares in the area, we fell in "Love" with Guidepost as soon as we walked into the building. We came to Guidepost with very little understanding of the Montessori way, but our son has embraced the independent way of teaching that goes on within his classroom. The teachers in the toddler room are so patient, kind and loving and for the first time in 3 years our son runs to get into class. Our son has struggled with delays in speech and cognitive development but within one month at Guidepost we saw vast growth in all areas of communication. We cannot say enough great things about this preschool!! They really do care about each and every child and go to extreme lengths to make sure that every aspect of our sons experience here is wonderful! We LOVE this preschool!! And my son loves it too! We were looking for a better way to learn than how I was raised - one that encourages love of learning and independence. The director is Sam (Samantha) Sharp and I cannot say enough good things. The lead guide in his class is Ms. Amanda and she is amazing!! My son is thriving there! He has always been advanced in all milestones which actually made it very difficult to find the right preschool. The classrooms each have an age range verses all the same age which I love because he learns from the older children and leads the younger ones. After visiting or speaking to at least 12 preschools we decided hands down to attend Guidepost. It is a fairly new school but as word gets out it's filling up fast.. it has a beautiful, clean, well designed campus. They offer half-day, 3days a week (any three days you want), to full-day, 5days a week programs. Open from 7am to 6pm!!! They provide a healthy snack and you provide a lunch. We are very happy with our recent move to the Guidepost. We love the sense of community and diversity the school offers. The communication from the school is great and we love the daily updates and photo's of our sons activities. The "learn by doing" style fits our son's personality very well.
