Cannot say enough good things about this school. My 2.5 has been going here since he was 22 months. Since then he has blossomed! He can identify and recite all letters of the alphabet, names different animals and their sounds, has learned structure and made friends. He loves going to school everyday and nothing makes me happier. The staff is very compassionate towards the kids and the moral seems great here amongst the staff. I'm so happy with our experience here and I hope this helps other moms who are unsure where to send their kids to school. My only con would be that I wish they had a daily log on what my son did that day that could be accessed on an app. I noticed some schools offer that with videos and photos daily. But not a total deal breaker for me.

Art projects my 3 year old made at Beginnings Learning Center- Van Nuys.

The teachers are kind, warm-hearted, and very attentive to the children. My daughter was always happy to go to daycare, which as a parent says so much. I loved that their days were filled with a great variety of activities -- learning through games, cooking activities, creative projects in the classroom, and plenty of active play outdoors. She was always busy, engaged, and excited to tell me about her day. I was also very happy with the food they provided. My daughter loves to eat, so this was definitely important to us! She always came home full and happy, and I really appreciated the variety of meals and snacks offered throughout the day. After two years, we are leaving with so many warm memories. It's a wonderful feeling to know that your child is spending her day in a place where she feels happy, comfortable, cared for, and loved. A big thank you to all the teachers and staff for everything you've done for our daughter!

This was his first daycare experience, and Shusha took him in and treated him as her own. His language and social skills blossomed right away. He had always been a very picky eater, but he loved Ms Mariam's cooking, and was always trying new and unexpected foods for the first time. Shusha was so loving and even went out of her way to personally help feed him on the days he struggled. We have since moved, and our son is now five years old. We have since attended three other wonderful schools with our two boys, but none of them compare to Shusha's school. For a nervous mom sending her son to school for the first time, it felt as if we were sending him to a warm, loving relative's home to play for the day. We still see the amazing activities she plans on social media, and think fondly of our son's time there. We are so grateful to Shusha and her team to have had the perfect first school experience.

If you're looking for "play based learning," the teachers and owner are the golden standard for this approach (and if you're not familiar you must get familiar and find a play based environment for your kiddo-I have lots of thoughts on this). All the teachers care deeply about each student and are always exploring, considering and applying the most thoughtful means to help guide and nurture each and every one of them. I can't say enough. Go to an open house and see for yourself. You will be forever changed from the first step in the door. I heard so many good things about this school from friends with older kids before we toured and it did not fail to impress and inspire me.

The school's approach is empathetic so that even the littlest children feel seen, heard, and understood. The teachers model and foster social-emotional skills skillfully, so that the kiddos become considerate but effective self-advocates and negotiators, establishing the building blocks for identifying their own emotions and needs and working through conflict. The teachers are gentle and caring. You feel totally confident leaving your child under their guidance, knowing they will be treated with respect and kindness. The teachers and director also become your genuine partners along the journey of raising your child. Through coffee hour chats, expert talks, knowledgeable resource recommendations, and one-on-one conversations they can help troubleshoot any parenting challenges you are working through. For myself and some alumni parent friends of mine, the school has been such a trusted guiding light that "Caterpillar" has become a verb. If you're not sure how to deal with a child situation, you ask yourself, "How can I Caterpillar this?" What would (lead teacher) Andrea say or do? All this is on top of the other good stuff of pre-school they provide: arts exploration, outdoor play, stories and gardening and science experiments and a lovely community of parents and friends. Highest recommendation!

As a first-time mom, I had many concerns about transitioning my daughter into a preschool program, but the Petite team quickly reassured me and made the experience such a positive one. From the very beginning, every staff member was warm, welcoming, and genuinely invested in the children. One of the things that stood out most was that every teacher knew my daughter by name, even those who were not her direct teachers, which truly showed how connected and caring the entire team is. Ms. Salmeena and Ms. Marilyn have built such a special program. Their dedication, leadership, and attention to detail are evident in everything they do, from the thoughtful planning to the incredible support they provide to both teachers and families. I cannot say enough positive things about our experience at Petite. The impact this team has had on my daughter's growth, confidence, and development has meant so much to our family. It is incredibly bittersweet to say goodbye, and while I am so sad to see this chapter come to an end, I am comforted knowing we will be back next summer for camp! The owners and staff have dedicated many years to this school, making a lasting difference in the lives of children across generations, and it truly shows in everything they do. My son gained so much from an early age--learning how to color, hold a pencil correctly, write his name, and even begin addition and subtraction. The summer camps are excellent, the dance classes are fun and engaging, and the holiday celebrations beautifully reflect diversity and respect for all cultures. The environment is warm, welcoming, and inclusive, which made us feel comfortable from the very beginning. Before I give a glowing and deeply heartfelt review of the experience our family has had at…read moreMontessori House of Children with both of our boys, I want to share a broader thought, because context matters, especially when parents are making one of the most important decisions of their lives. I think it is fundamentally unfair when a school receives a one-star review based purely on a parent's expectation of what they think an accredited Montessori environment should be, particularly when that opinion comes from a misunderstanding, limited exposure, or without ever actually attending or engaging with the school. Montessori education is nuanced, intentional, and often misunderstood when viewed through a traditional lens. What troubles me most is how quickly some people run to leave damaging reviews without first asking questions, seeking clarity, or having a conversation with the school. Educators and administrators put their entire lives into the well-being of these children and the integrity of their program. Parents rely on real, lived experiences when deciding to place their children in someone else's care, and highly subjective or reactionary reviews do not serve that trust or decision-making process. I truly believe that if something feels off, the first step should be to pause, gather information, and talk with the school. If, after genuine effort and understanding, you still feel strongly, then by all means leave a review. But perspective matters. And if you take a moment to look at some of the most extreme one-star profiles, you will often notice a pattern. Volatility, absolutes, and very little middle ground. Life, and education, rarely works that way. Now onto what actually matters. Our older son graduated from Montessori House of Children and is now thriving in first grade. Our younger son is about to graduate this year. Over the years, we have watched both boys grow not just academically, but emotionally, socially, and independently. This school helped shape who they are as learners and as people. The teachers are patient, intentional, and deeply invested. The environment fosters confidence, curiosity, responsibility, and respect. These are core Montessori principles that are clearly lived, not just advertised. Our children felt safe, seen, challenged, and supported. We will always be grateful for the foundation Montessori House of Children gave our family. It is not just a school. It is a community that genuinely cares about children and their development. I recommend it without hesitation to parents seeking a thoughtful, authentic Montessori experience.

Ms. Irma, the owner, and Ms. Ala, her assistant, are incredible caretakers who truly love what they do. My son started with them right when he turned 12 months and they both guided us through a great process of adapting to their care. I wanted a place that was small and where my son could socialize and learn, after spending his first full year at home with us. We looked for daycares for months and all were either too big for our taste with 20+ kids and lots of teachers or the small ones felt too informal. This place is a great size with just up to 7 kids that start from ages 1 year until they are ready for school. They have a classroom where they learn, have activities, nap, and also an outside area where they play. Irma and Ala keep it very clean, no one can come into the space (you are greeted at the outside gate due to health protocols) they are mindful of hygiene and make sure everyone is healthy, which is important when you are dealing with kiddos. Communication is key, and Irma sends constant texts and keeps you informed as the day progresses with the cutest pictures of the kids in their activities that range from painting or playdough, or even cooking (safely, of course). I have seen my son flourish in their care and loved that they have different ages as my baby has learned so much from the older kids as well. Every day he comes home with a new word or skill and is so happy and full of energy (and clean!) Their approach is very loving and caring, my son loves to go and gets excited as we head out every morning saying his little friends' names. You can expect home-style breakfast & lunch as well as snacks, they keep a schedule so you know what to expect as far as food + naps but are open for pickup any time as long as you don't interrupt activities.
