I recently brought my newly diagnosed son to CARD in Woburn. My son is 2 years, 11 months old…read more Within the first fifteen minutes of our meeting, I was told that my son would need 40 hours a week of ABA and that he should skip preschool and do ABA only. I was told he should do this for three years and then enter kindergarten a year late, at age six. There are a few incidents that I feel upset about. I was told that my son was "the worst ever" seen when it came to changing his diaper. He did cry and try to turn over but I imagine at a center for autism, that there might have been more challenging behaviors observed. Also, the BCBA who was working with my son made comments on how he was one of the worst in not following a direction and using his words. The BCBA grabbed a toy truck from my son and my son said, "Let it go." She gave it back and said that was an appropriate response and then grabbed it from him again. My son lost it and tried to pull it away from her and cried for probably 2 minutes until we asked her to redirect his attention to something else. I was told then that this was "one of the worst she seen" as far as his ability to hold out for something. Finally, the BCBA asked whom my son was close to in the family and I told her that is my father (who has been taking care of my son, while my husband and I work.) She made a comment that, "Oh, it is usually the mother." I felt these incidents show a lack of empathy and care. This experience felt like a sales pitch. I felt like I was being told how awful my son was so I would need to sign up for 40 hours (which was not recommended on his IEP or from his doctor.) I don't feel such a strong recommendation should be made within meeting my child for 15 minutes. . Fortunately, my son has started preschool and is being praised for what he can do while working on his needs. I do not doubt the need and wonderful things ABA does or that 40 hours might be the appropriate thing for my child or another, it was just the method in which this BCBA went about it. I am currently waiting for home services through another agency. There also might be more kind BCBA's at CARD but it felt like I would get the push for 40 hours no matter what my son did. Which by the way, my son is awesome, loveable, and kind and didn't deserve any of these things said about him.

I have seen other BCBA's work with my son, and absolutely NONE of them can remotely compare to the BCBA's that are part of compass. all compass staff I have met with and seen are absolutely phenomenal with these special kiddos. My son has shown nothing but progress from compass, and all schools and ABA programs should follow the compass model and all these special kids will do nothing but thrive. Compass provides therapy, parent training and parent clinics and compass has been a part of our life, but it's also been a way of life for us. My son screams when it's time to leave compass and he wants to stay there! I do not believe they do not respond to parents, compass staff and I've spoke with many, always respond to me almost immediately, and not only help you while your child is in therapy but they help you help your child outside of therapy as well. If anything else is said it's hogwash!!! This is the best place for therapy for these special kiddos.

Like how does one just pop a kid into that if they don't meet criteria? It really seemed they had mixed my child up with someone else's child. This service that is based on and prides itself on documenting? Really? They sighted he tried to poison us. That never happened. What a damaging and outrageous claim. He did plenty of real stuff no need to lie or exaggerate anything. You are trying to get help for behavior issues right? They stated he was tardy and absent from school and never was. I signed releases school said they never contacted them. Barely has missed a day. I got a print out of his attendance. They stated he was ODD and demanded other diagnoses from doctors. After signing releases for them to speak w his doctors. He has other stuff lol. They can't handle anything other than just the autism. Letting me know how they have to stay in their lane. Five months later? Be aware. They are seeking four year old kids to play with. I doubt any results from them would happen. They do-not help w bathroom other than an alarm to remind the child. We did that, that's silly. No real help. I thought they were going to help us? They admitted they made zero progress in five months. There was so much wrong with the report I made a bullet point complaint wanting it corrected. They sent a letter back they were investigating it internally for all my many issues I had with it and how the case was handled as a whole. They did nothing to fix anything and the payment plan they had us on resulted in over four grand in balance to be paid after insurance didn't cover it. My insurance is now looking into it and may become a litigation situation. Again anyone reading this. If you have an older child with any pda they will not do well by your family. This was pure nightmare fuel and made everything so much worse. The fact they did zero referrals lied they spoke to his psychiatrist and many other very concerning falsehoods they are simply not a legitimate company. A young inexperienced girl came in so self assured stating "well your way isn't working how bout we try our way?" lol I was thinking to myself ya sure ok good luck with that. I tried everything. I was interested to see how they could help. They didn't at all. They never did open the center location wise. That should have offered respite on weekends. Would have been one positive. We had them in our home 20 plus hours per week five days per week for over five months. Not a "didn't really give it a chance" situation, but during that time countless managers and training of therapists on your child's time. Like how are they billing when a portion of the time is them training their new staff on your time? Kid you not four cars in our driveway with Superviser upper supervision cus supervisors aren't trained then your kids therapist plus some on looking training person while they train your person. It went on the whole time cus they had a revolving door. We got a silly bin of items of junk finally like months and months in we were supposed to get but didn't prior that they didn't come back for. Their little enrichment kit or whatever (a puzzle, legos, slime). lol like I'm at the point I can laugh but man. Ridiculous I do not have a good feeling or opinion of Aba now. Not sure it's based on normal Aba cus this was like patty cake with a nine year old and no real treatment plan admittedly till the last four to six weeks of the circus. There are tons of other Aba companies look at them and reviews I regret choosing them I really want others to not have this experience. I felt sorry for the therapists trying to work for them. Like nice people with no training or experience and don't know what they are doing or how to help you or anything about anything basically. Management throwing them in unprepared and without an actual plan to go by. They reluctantly admitted there was no case plan in place cus someone dropped the ball somewhere and I honestly think notes or documentation was all mixed about. Like paying out the nose for a mother's helper with a kid next door person hoping something therapeutic was going to happen at some point ever. Sad. We have no services in place now and waitlists for months working with 211 sucks too but that's free folks you can get Aba through them too. I would still not go back to Aba centers of America. No matter how desperate. Please be advised. I tried my best to warn you. Also take a gander at how many times I left one star reviews in my entire life. Not much. Good luck.

My parents were given Pat Brady as a GAL for their divorce. For context, I am the oldest child…read morecurrently now an adult. My father is narcissistic and was verbally and emotionally abusive to me as well as neglectful to both me and my younger sister. He is also an alcoholic. When my parents were still together, he was very controlling of all of us, mainly my mother. A couple of years before they separated (I was 11-12 at the time) I started to find out that he was having an affair with a coworker and currently he is still with her. All of this has affected me, my mom, and my sister and it has greatly impacted my mental health. Many relatives on my dad's side including him don't believe us and they think that my mom is "forcing ideas into my head" even though it is my own thoughts and things I've actively witnessed. Since 2022, my parents have been in court for their divorce and they still have not finalized anything. Last year the judge assigned Pat Brady as a GAL, who I thought was going to be advocating for me and my sister. But instead, it felt more like a reunification process with our dad. My sister and I explained everything I said and clearly stated several times to Pat and her associates that we did not feel comfortable with him. I felt like they were very one sided and were supportive of my dad because apparently they were also talking to him as well. It did not feel like how a GAL should be and my sister and I do not feel like our feelings were heard and advocated for. It was more like "just hug it out". Since January, I've been an adult and I finally was able to leave all of this crap, but my sister was still forced into these meetings. She eventually has had to meet up one and one with my dad every other week, which she has said has been a waste of time. She has been told by Pat Brady's associates that she isn't allowed to talk about anything related to the divorce because "dad doesn't feel comfortable". So she hasn't been able to tell him how she feels because she can't, which is completely ridiculous considering it's supposed to be "advocating for the children". So overall, I highly don't recommend this place. All Pat Brady did was just cause more shit. She's very one sided and does not advocate for children, especially those who have been abused. #donotrecommend

I had the opportunity to work with her during a very high-conflict, post-divorce co-parenting situation, and her guidance and coaching was invaluable in helping me take the best actions and provide optimal support for the children. Pat's breadth of experience and her ongoing commitment to professional growth are remarkable. She actively pursues continued education and attends conferences, ensuring she stays on top of the latest insights into family dynamics, and shares her knowledge. Pat's deep understanding of these dynamics is evident in every interaction. It's interesting to note that reviews of Pat's work tend to fall into two distinct categories --those who acknowledge her immense skill and experience, and those who are critical of her work or character. Given the nature of her work, which often involves setting firm boundaries or holding parents accountable, this discrepancy makes sense. Supporting children and families in challenging situations sometimes means standing firm in decisions and expecting parents to take responsibility, which can be difficult for some to accept. I would not want to work with a provider who was scared to hold parents accountable or brokered meaningless compromises at the expense of the children. Ultimately, this dichotomy in reviews reflects Pat's immense strength and unwavering commitment to putting the needs of children first. She does not simply settle for appeasing either parent or enforcing inappropriate compromises; instead, she focuses on what is best for families and children, demonstrating personal and professional strength and integrity. Her dedication and expertise have made a real difference, and I truly appreciate the work she does. Despite tumultuous, unrelenting challenges in my case, she stood strong, level-headed, and I cannot thank her enough.
