It's a small town Chinese place, but I've been going here for over 20 years. They only do take out now, but they use to have dine in and lunch buffets. I like how they can customize the menu for vegetarian options and how the servings are large, and your entrees come with rice. Will this food wow you with flavor? No. Will the customer service wow you with politeness and restore your faith in humanity? No, but they won't make it worse either, and if you buy the large for meals, you're getting plenty of bang for your buck. If you're expecting something great, you wouldn't be paying cheap. Got take out from there on Saturday evening Labor day weekend. The order took almost an hour to prepare and both the sesame chicken and orange chicken were extremely bland and tasteless. Even for Americanized Chinese food this was very poor. As the only Chinese restaurant in town, maybe people put up with it. Also, no fried rice allowed for take order sides. From reading the reviews, we thought this would be a great Chinese meal. Man, were we disappointed. The restaurant itself is very dark, it was empty at 5:30 with one waitress and hostess sitting at the back of the dining room snapping peas. We ordered egg rolls for our appetizer. They weren't awesome, but they weren't terrible. For our entree, my husband ordered a vegetable dish that was very spicy (ok) but nothing much else stood out about it except for the fact that it was drenched in sauce. I ordered Sweet and Sour Tofu and requested noodles instead of rice. The waitress told us that the cook did not do substitutions. Ok. My dish was bland, the tofu pieces were huge and chewy, and nothing really had flavor, and was also drenched in sauce. We ordered a vegetable Lo Mein for our kids, and it tasted as if it was cooked over a flame. Seriously, I've never had asian food that tasted flame broiled. The portions were huge! We only ate a small part of our meal and didn't bring the rest home because really, who wants BAD asian leftovers?? My husband makes a better stir fry at home. We had to ask for water twice and we were the only customers in the restaurant, besides a steady stream of customers picking up to-go orders (curious). We overheard the hostess talking to a to-go customer that apparently had brought back an order because she felt her meat was uncooked. We heard her ask the hostess if it was done and the hostess said she hoped so, because he (the cook) would not cook it again. That he didn't want to re-do it because he thought it was cooked correctly, and that he would rather give her her money back. The only bright spot was the pleasant waitress. I used to live in Chicago, which has some excellent Chinese restaurants, but I would stack them up with the quality of food from Beijin Palace. Now, when you first walk in, it may not seem the greatest of places, but don't let that fool you. The food is excellent. The egg-rolls are fantastic. The Sesame Chicken is outstanding. The lighting is dim and decor a little out dated, but the place is clean. The prices are reasonable and the host is quite pleasant. I also enjoy their buffet which is $5.49 plus tax. The buffet doesn't have a big selection, but it's everything you need for a good lunch. Money well spent instead of buying a combo meal at the other fast food places in town. Wish I Had More Than One Entree Sunday 1pm, original plan was to lunch at Apple Valley Natural Foods; didn't care for the meatless food there and craved for Chinese. Yelp app have this come up. A lot of negative reviews on here, but know this. The food is not bad, however, it can take a LONG time to get your food. It was well over a half an hour before I even got my wanton soup and an hour before I got my main meal. So, if you have a ton of time to kill and you are with friends, the food itself is good. Awful restaurant and service. The Chinese woman who runs the place is quite rude. They should advertise that they will not serve people in the dining room once they have multiple to go orders. My first visit was during dinner service and I was immediately told that the dining room was closed because they had too many to go orders. I said that I want to eat in and was quickly told it will be 45 minutes for service. It would turn out that this is a standard reply by the rude owner. I chalked it up to a bad day for them, and would try another time. My second visit was during lunch when they serve their cheap buffet. After looking at the disgusting greasy mess that is their buffet I asked if I could order off the menu, this was discouraged by the rude owner. After explaining to the woman that I prefer fresh Chinese food, I was able to order off the menu. I have lived in Taiwan and I am very experienced with real Chinese food. Most American restaurants serve an Americanized version of Chinese food, which quite frankly is nothing like the real thing, and quite often greasy and disgusting. The food I received was decent and fresh, and considering the location, pretty good. I decided I would try again. I went back again on Wednesday 4/6/16 for the dinner service and there were multiple patrons waiting in the lobby for to go orders. I went to the dining room for seating and stood next to the "Please Wait to be Seated" sign and waited a few minutes. The same Chinese woman came out with to go orders and I said I wanted to sit in for dinner. She immediately gave the standard reply that it'll be 45 minutes for service. I replied that the business is a sit down restaurant and patrons have the right to eat in....I only received a blank unfriendly stare. As I left I stated that I would rather drive to Stevensville or Saint Joseph for Chinese food, and would never return. This restaurant needs to advertise that they are predominately a to go service, and priority is given to customers with to go orders. I have eaten at Chinese restaurants in many countries around the world, and each one is capable of handling every customer whether dining in, or taking a to go order. I went to this restaurant on a Tuesday night with my 2 years old and as soon as I walked in I was told I should leave. The hostess said it would take too long with children and that I needed to leave. There were no other customers in the restaurant and my daughter was very well behaved for the 2 minutes we walked in and waited.
