Please if you go to Dr. Hamod and discuss you need a price before having work done don't take his word for it, get it in writing! I explained insurance might not cover a bonding because I just had it done by another dentist shortly before this one. It fell off and it wasn't the first time so I explained this might not last but I wanted to have it done by him to see if it was something my prior dentist was doing wrong or if it was just my tooth. He agreed to do it for $75 after I explained all that. I was relieved and very happy to have it done. I paid the $75 before leaving, the bonding lasted 3 days, and a couple months later I got a bill in the mail for over $400. For a bonding I knew might not even last, really???? I never would have agreed to this! I've explained everything after calling but no one cares the lady just keeps saying well sorry your insurance didnt cover it. Yes lady, me and Dr. Hamod both knew that very well may be the case. I was expecting him to say oh yes, I remember that conversation and fix this, but nope, all I got was sorry this needs to be paid. My prior dentist only charged $170 for the same work! BEWARE!!! read more

Rude! Being new to the area, I am searching for a dentist to hopefully become my family dentist. While searching for providers that work in-network with my insurance, I called Bel Air Dental and was met with extreme rudeness by Michelle when inquiring about services and insurance. First impressions do make a difference. Bad experience with Dr Scharf. Went to complete a crown which I was told by previous dentist the broken area of tooth was not close to nerve (obvious on X-ray) and I was in no pain. Dr Scharf continued to zealously drill even though I told him how painful it was (he didn't believe I needed more Novocain). When he was done I was left in pain for days, I went back he would not offer anything for pain just said it's time to move on to root canal. In the end I lost the tooth, never heard back from practice and they did not reimburse the fee for the crown that was no longer needed. read more

Dr Scharf , and the entire team at Belair Dental have been phenomenal... total professionals, friendly, compassionate, and best of all the dental work is amazing. I am not sure why I stayed with this dental office for so long. My first visit started with a chipped molar that had no pain and resulted in a root canal that had to be done over two visits and a crown. The dentist that did my root canal was nice enough but didn't acknowledge the amount of pain I was in afterwards and only offered me different antibiotics, never anything for the pain. After two root canals on the same tooth in two weeks I was still in immense pain that gradually subsided but never went away. The crown was placed by someone who seemed like she had never done this before and was an extremely painful process. This experience was billed incorrectly to my dental insurance and started a back and forth with Bel Air Dental's billing office that was rather reprehensible and took months to resolve. Still I stayed...today I called in for an emergency visit because the tooth that the crown is on (the one with two root canals) is causing me severe pain. The person who answered the phone was rude, sounded annoyed that I was bothering her, continued to cut me off and interrupt, and was unsympathetic. She let me know that a few emergencies already called in before me (I called 5 mins after they opened) so the earliest they could see me was three days from now. I asked to speak with a provider so I could at least be started on abx and/or pain meds and was told that I cannot speak to a dr nor would they prescribe anything without seeing me first (with a tone of "are you stupid?!"). Needless to say, I will no longer be visiting this dental office. PS - I called my husband's dentist and they were able to fit me in ASAP with kindness and compassion. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Scharf's for many years and I truly appreciate his sincere, professional, kind, and excellent care of my teeth... as well as Margaret his hygienist. I am a giant baby when it comes to pain. I recently had to have a badly cracked tooth removed and Dr. Scharf was so good I didn't even realize when it did it. It was quick and painless. Follow up care was great. He called me the next day to see how it was going (--which was great!) and the staff was very flexible about setting up times to come back for follow ups. read more

Really disappointed with Bel Air Dental Care. We have been patients for years. We always schedule our appointments for cleanings months in advance, especially my husband who is a truck driver and needs Saturday or evening appointments (otherwise he loses an entire day of work for a cleaning). Bel Air Dental has cancelled his last two appointments, once cancelled last minute on the same day. Instead of finding a time to rebook him in they are saying he can't be seen until JANUARY. That's six months away. What is disappointing is that THEY cancelled his appointments (one for a Saturday because they decided not to have Saturday hours over the summer) and one in the evening (last minute due to an emergency). I understand the pandemic has complicated things with getting patients in for needed visits, but perhaps that means adding some additional hours. Looks like they have decided that they just don't need the patients that they currently have. Very disappointing. So, unless you have lots of flexibility in your schedule, I would advise you find another practice. read more

I really love Bel Air Dental Care and can't say enough wonderful things. My parents and I have been coming here for years now. When I moved out of the county a few years ago, I had to switch many of my care providers to a closer location. The only one I didn't change was Bel Air Dental Care. I really love the office and the staff so much. Everything is super modern and clean, and everyone is so prompt and friendly! It's also really great that they use a text message appointment reminder too. The best part though is the staff. They legitimately take an interest in you. Jody, Michele, and Dr. Hamod are my absolute favorites! Without fail, they always ask about my parents, my dog, the farm- and with specifics. I can hardly remember someone's name after I'm first introduced but they will go as far as to ask about my "redtick coonhound pup" and other super specific details. I know that it's odd that I'm spending the majority of my time talking about how they know personal details in this review, but it just goes to show how amazing their customer service is.
