Disclaimer/ This is not a trash on Bel Capelli and their stylists kind of post- this is for educational purposes so others don't make the same mistake I did. Not worth the $400 hair cut & color. I had a consultation with Ally and I showed her pictures of what I was going for and the color I wanted and that went fine, no problems, but when I got done with my official appointment my hair didn't turn out how I wanted it from the photo. It was a 5 hour appointment and I paid $220 plus 20% tip for her time. A couple days go by and I compared the photo of what I wanted and my result and decided to ask her to fix it. I didn't clarify beforehand if the fix would be free of charge because that's been my experience at salons but no, not this time. I spent another $140 to leave the salon with still not really what I was going for and now it's been a month and still not impressed and pretty mad honestly that I spent that much money and got a result far from what I wanted but maybe it's not all her fault, maybe she thinks she did a good job or that she just did what she wanted, the photos I brought in of what I wanted didn't matter, maybe she doesn't have much experience, heck, she was the first person I made an appointment with since moving to a new area but I figured this salon could do better but I should've done more research. The color is so subtle hardly anybody has noticed I changed my hair and to spend $400 I definitely would've wanted it to be noticeable and receive lots of compliments-it's pretty disappointing. I'm not sure what to do either at this point besides get my frustration out in this review. I already tried going in to have it fixed and was charged and I'm not spending more than I already have...I could call the salon and complain but to what benefit? The receptionist probably won't care and what would Ally think of me sitting in her chair for the 4th time still unhappy with my results? Ally if you're reading this I'm sorry, you're a nice gal but $400 to not be impressed is not a good feeling. I'll attach photos below in case anybody reads this far and is curious. Came in and they managed to fit me in to get ready for a big out of town event. I had been having a bad hair day, and I was destined to go into a video shoot in a couple days looking like Raggedy Ann. Really phenomenal experience working with Sarah who did my make up, showed me what I would need for the event, and made my make up look natural, subtle. She was funny and also fixed my hair color to make it a natural red. I highly recommend! read more

Amber cancelled my hair appointment twice with only a few hours notice however if I cancel less than 24 hours before I am stuck with a large charge no matter what the circumstances. Once hair was canceled just before a very special personal event , so stressful , scrambling to get rescheduled. I had to cancel a lash appointment 23 hours in advance due to a work emergency and I was charged 1\2 the price of the treatment. I was 1 hour late in canceling . I tried to communicate my concerns with staff they were unwilling to have a discussion. This salon staff doesn't feel welcoming, caring or helpful in any way, I requested a phone call with the owner, she didn't bother to return my call. Great first time here! Staff was friendly, my service was wonderful. Brandee was awesome!

Both the front desk and stylists have been abrupt end rude with me. for instance, when I scheduled my daughter for a deep conditioning, I mentioned that I needed to consult her school schedule. However, when I arrived, the staff seemed astonished to see that she was a child. They said to me, "You should have told us she's a child! Some of the stylists don't like to work with children." Then they sat us outside while the the stylist, Amber, apparently got over her tantrum and decided to see us. but she did not introduce herself to us, nor ask my daughter's name. Instead, she was abrupt and rude. For someone who was about to earn $55 for 30 minutes of work, and easy work at that, she sure seemed awfully resentful! I've had other problems with the front desk staff being rude, as well. The haircuts I myself received there were good, but not phenomenal. I won't be going back. read more

Adam is incredible. He gave me the best cut of my entire life, I don't think I can see anyone else ever again. I was really excited and nervous about my appointment because I don't change my hair much and this was a big change, but taking the risk paid off. He paid so much attention to detail sectioning my hair so carefully and really listening to what I wanted. I love my cut so much and Adam has my loyalty! read more

Went here a few times for a wax and to get my hair coloured. No issues. Had to get my hair cut one day and didn't have much time. So when the stylist said she'd start with a scalp massage and hair wash I told her not necessary. She cut my hair and then said that she will style it for me - again not necessary I was heading to the gym after. She then proceeded to charge me the FULL price for a haircut with all the fixings. $65 for a 20 minute haircut! I could not believe that she didn't offer to bring the price down a bit. So unfortunately will not be back for any more service; definitely a nice place but not worth it. WARNING: DO NOT SEE CHRISTY FOR LASHES OR HAIR! I waited 1.5 hours for my appointment because Christy had accidentally turned her previous client's hair blue and was trying to fix it. That should have been my first red flag. When she sat me down for my lashes, I asked for a very, very natural look. They ended up being much longer than I expected and not the look I was going for. She proceeded to tell me it wasn't her work that was the issue, but I was "just being hormonal because I was pregnant!" Who says that?! Crazy. I wasn't even mad, just asking if they could be adjusted and if not, all good but i'd prefer to go back to my natural lashes. She degraded me, telling me i'll never be happy so she's not even going to try, among a suite of other uncalled for words. I've never experienced behavior like that. 3 people saw my lashes after and all felt they were very fake looking and much too long, so I know it wasn't an unreasonable request. What's worse, I had an appointment a few days later with Adam and he instagram messaged me cancelling my appointment because Christy told him I called her work cheap (I didn't call her work cheap) but he refused to see me and 2 other girlfriends I had booked blowouts for because of what he heard from Christy (it's clear she was not upfront with the situation). I'm honestly shocked they run an establishment like this. Upon telling my friends, they all agreed I shouldn't have gone there in the first place because it's not a professionally run salon. I have lived in almost every major metropolitan city on the west coast and I have always had a really hard time finding hair stylists who do a great job with my thick, wavy, highlighted hair and who are also friendly and interesting enough to spend 3-4 hours with every 3 months. Thank goodness I found Kellie when I moved to Nevada City! She does a fantastic job with my cut and color and takes great care of me during the time I am in her gorgeous salon. I would give her 5 stars as a stylist without hesitation. I removed one star though because the customer service at the front desk can be less than stellar, though I have never had anyone be exceedingly rude or anything- just not 5 star worthy. I have had multiple haircuts from other stylists in the salon when Kellie wasn't available and I have been impressed every single time. As someone who has had many services in shi-shi Beverly Hills salons and spas I have to tell you that the quality of stylists at Bel Capelli is top notch and is pretty close to what you would find in an Aveda salon in a big city. They also offer waxing and nail services as well. I highly recommend you check them out! read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Well, I can't believe I'm doing this! I have been a customer here for nearly 20 years now, except for 2 yrs in which I lived in Marin County. This review is mainly for Adam, the new man there. I had my second appt of 2020 w/Kelly in August. On my way there, I had to get cash from bank, since she is "cash only". My car broke down at bank! I called in time of when appt was to let make her aware. Adam answered the phone and basically was rude, telling me she couldn't wait and cancelled appt. This man is the one I had called Kelly about a few weeks before that my daughter went to for a cut & color. She was so upset and disappointed afterwards. He didn't listen to what she wanted and she said he was rude as well. I eventually rescheduled with Jaime for today. Yesterday I received a "confirmation call" that was very confusing! It gave 2 different times w/2 different stylists. I called back & left message to get some clarity. I GOT A CALL BACK 15 MINS BEFORE MY APPT. With my poor cell service at my home, msg was received nearly 20 mins after. I called them back, because I hadn't heard back yet(I thought). Adam answered, again very rudely telling me my appt was at 10am and it was going on 10am...I told him about msg and that I was 30 minutes away, thinking my appt may have been 10:30, because of confusing message? He didn't say I could still come in, call ended, then he calls back & tells me I wasted Jaime's time of 2.5hrs! Arrived on time for facial - instructed to arrive 15 minutes earlier than scheduled originally. Owner "Kelly" questioned my early arrival, and that someone really left message. Owner "Kelly" then proceeded not ask me inside to wait - raining. When I came back, owner "Kelly" had person I had appointment with refuse to serve me, saying I was rude to her? I was helping out with a June 3 wedding and Christy helped me with the perfect timeline! She provided space for us to bring some snacks and champagne/orange juice. She applied the makeup and coiffed the hair of the bride and even though the bride is naturally beautiful, Christy somehow made her even more beautiful. The bride glowed with perfection thanks to Christy. My daughter was standing up for the wedding and Christy did her makeup as well. Another salon (can I call her artist?), Kristi Ann, flipped and twisted my daughter's hair into the most gorgeous up do I have ever seen! My daughter looked exquisite thanks to Bel Capelli Salon, Christy and Kristi. Presently, I am taking care of my 86 year old mom and in between taking care of her, getting evacuated for a fire I was in desperate need of a chill day and a cut and color! YOU GUYS!!! This place treats you well. My fiance and I were lucky enough to walk into Bel Capelli on a Friday evening, and even though they were closing they were so friendly, so helpful. We were curious about a facial as we are getting married, and I just recently have had terrible acne and have tried various skin care products, none of which I have seen much of a difference. We set up a facial for the next day with Brandee. She was phenomenal. She clearly does this job because she loves it; she's passionate about skincare, generous with her knowledge, and caters the facial and her expertise to your skin type. Christy is the best! As a chick with short hair, it can be very daunting to find a stylist who knows what to do with a pixie cut. Christy listens attentively, cuts my hair both wet and blow-dried, and won't let me leave until I'm 100% stoked on my cut! She also always offers to let me come back in for a bang trim or touch-up. I called in this morning and said, "I have had my hair cut twice at your salon, but I don't have anyone I go to. Can you get me in?" The person that answered said, "How soon can you you get here?" I said, "In ten minutes." Yay! I was so happy I was going to cut all my hair off today; I had long hair and I wanted it all cut off. So, I get there and I am greeted by a really nice woman named Laura and she told me she would be cutting my hair. I had her look up a picture of what I thought I wanted and she said she could totally do it. The hair style was from a commercial on TV and Laura just looked at it and said yes I can do this. Anyway, I was a bit anxious to lose all the locks, but I was going for it. I am happy to say, Laura did a fabulous job and I could not be happier with my new do. She was meticulous in her work, I think Laura is a true artist.
