We have been traveling around Belgium for two weeks, eating local Belgian food along the way. Chez Charles Brasserie Restaurant caught our eye while walking back to our hotel. It is a lovely restaurant with string lighting outside that adds to the experience and ambience of the quaint restaurant. The food was so delicious that we came back twice for dinner. First night I had the mushroom soup and chèvre chuad salad. The salad was amazing. Mushroom soup was good (not a huge mushroom fan in general) but the following night I had the onion soup which was absolutely delicious. I had the same salad that night as well. It's that good. Third night I had the onion soup again as I had been craving it all day. The weather has been chili so the soup was comforting and exactly what I needed. If they offer the onion soup and that's your thing it will not disappoint! Also, they offer blankets for customers who dine outside on the patio. My wife had the Mussels with Belgian fries all three nights. We are not usually creatures of habit but this restaurant had everything we wanted. Great food, charming and casual indoor and outdoor dining, great beer selection on tap served in a cold and coinciding glass. Lastly, but most importantly, is their friendly staff. By the third night we were warmly greeted by Nela who was not working that night but was there dining at the restaurant when we walked in. She very attentive as well as was another server Youssef who waited on us twice on Friday and Saturday night. The owner of the restaurant came over to check on us and when we left he insisted on providing us with a free dessert or cocktail. We graciously obliged with a lemonchello. This restaurant was a great find. It made our time in Brussels so much more enjoyable. I normally wouldn't write such a long review but I didn't want to leave anything out. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want great local food, friendly service with charming ambiance. read more
