I am thankful we have this department store in Athens and I wish there were more department stores here. Target and Kohls are here, but they aren't the old standards. Target has some clothing but it has positioned itself as a multiple personality building by including with its home furnishings a grocery store and pharmacy, too. I can't understand why we people in a city the size of Athens still have to drive to Atlanta to shop at other national brand department stores, so it's good that Belks has stayed here. This Belk store has several of the popular and quality brands in SOME of its departments -but it seems to be more like an outlet store for Belks in the women's clothing departments -with lots of crowded sales racks. The sales personnel are polite and friendly in all departments, and most are very experienced. If you find something you like, but not the right size or color -they will check online and help you order what you need & have it sent to your home. There is lots of free parking space, some of it is in the shade. The store is clean and generally well maintained. Returns are very easy. This store anchors the almost-deserted mall that keeps being promised to improve. Athens has been waiting for someone to return this mall to the busy, popular, profitable place it once was. This Belk feels as tired as the mall it's in. The store is still open, but the selection is pretty limited -- especially if you're looking for current styles or a good variety of sizes. It's clean enough, but it definitely has that "last stop before closing" vibe. read more

I shopped at Belk for a special occasion outfit and hat. I was happy to find a few there even after the Easter season. The hat was not perfect color, however they found one I could order on Belk.com that seemed to be perfect color. I was so relieved to have at least 1 option in hand before the event 2 weeks away. Thank goodness I did, bc the perfect color hat was delayed and never came in time for my event. It was very easy to return it to the store once it did arrive, and have my card credited for what I paid. Very easy! I love Belk! read more

Today, July 24, 2025 I went to Belk in Athens, Ga. Saw a pair of women's NIKE sneakers called Run Defy. This was at 1100AM. There were no salespeople anywhere near the Shoe Dept. A woman in Cosmetics said that someone would be there shortly. I waited 20 minutes and left. If this store has a high shrinkage rate it's because there was no one around except customers. I went home and got online at Belk and tried to order the sneakers but they were not online. I then phoned the store and could not get through as the Shoe Dept did not have a number. I then called the 980 number listed online. the lovely woman who answered finally put me through to the Athens Shoe saleswoman. She said that I could not order the shoes over the phone but had to come in to the store. REALLY? I asked her to please check the stockroom for the shoe I wanted. She had it and said that I had to come in to buy them. She was going on vacation tomorrow. We then got disconnected and she never tried to call me back.. This is the worst customer service known to man!!! I hope store management reads this and follows up on my issue. I give NO STARS !!! read more

My husband purchased a Le Vian 2 1/3 ct Neapolitan opal with 1/4 ct vanilla diamonds, 1/4 carat chocolate diamonds in 14K strawberry gold ring from Belk's on 2/4/21. He gave it to me on Valentine's Day. on 3/9/21, I was wearing it and realized that the center stone was missing. I have been unable to locate the stone. He carried it to Belk's today, 3/10/21, hoping for a resolution of some sort. The jewelry associate went to get the manager, who refused to even come out and talk to my husband. He sent the associate back out to say nothing could be done. My husband insisted on speaking to the manager who came out and still would not do ANYTHING! Manger's response "You should have got the insurance." The ring was $734, taxes and all and that's supposedly marked down from $3399 list price. So Belk's can't stand by their product at all just 5 weeks later? What truly is the quality of some ring that the stone is lost in that fast? I have multiple rings, one even more valuable. When I first received my Belks credit card I couldn't wait to go to Georgia Square Mall to use it. What a disappointment. The clothing, bags and shoes are so much more conservative than Macy's. -- I bought a pair of shoes and that was it. I have stopped in a few times but leave disappointed. -- What I found out later is that it's not Belk's, it the Belk's in Athens, Ga that is so bad. This store doesn't honor their advertisements. Even though they have signs posted clearly stating prices, they are insistent on not following through on what is advertised. I will not go to this store again. read more

Avoid the store.Without a doubt, the worst belk store I have ever been in. Employees are rude, lazy, they don't want to help you find anything. All they do is give you a hard time just a plain Awful store.They give you a hard time about using the coupons why even print them if you can't use them. read more

GET IN, GET IT, GET OUT! I so appreciate how this store is laid out because it is perfect for someone, (like me) with a short attention span and who is easily distracted. As I entered the store from the second level, I was immediately in the housewares department and there it was: The Nutribullet Pro! I had absolutely forgotten that this was on my after Christmas shopping list. I knew that if I did not grab it while it was on sale, I would later regret it. Had I entered through the clothing department, I never would have even made it to housewares. I believe in keeping "the business" up front and "the party" in the back of the store because some of us need that kind of structure. On this busy post-holiday weekend, I did not have to look far for assistance because the employee was readily available. The bullet was on sale for less than I paid for the previous model, (for my daughter), earlier in the year and I was able to use an on-line coupon for an additional discount. I ended up saving $25. I was so content with my purchase that I did not need to see anything else and promptly left the store. Now how is that for focus! read more

This is still my favorite department store after all these years. The people here know their customers and are able to help with purchases that fit your individual style. For my needs they have a Ralph Lauren big and tall section that no other store in the area has. When I am in Athens this is always a first stop for me. read more

I like their home goods section. They always have a great selection and good deals. Their bedding department is decent also...oh and they have good selection of Polo for children. All in all pretty much like all the other Belks. read more

My favorite pair of boots were destroyed by my beloved dog. I immediately called every Belk in the area to find the boots in my size. Athens was my only option with one pair left. Long story short, Temika Scott in the ladies shoe department, searched all day for them in the clearance area and gave me a call to let me know I have found them. She also was able to ship them directly to my house so that I didn't have to make the trip to Athens since I do not live in the area. She went above and beyond for me and exceeded my expectations. This is my first review I have ever written & it is all because of Temika! :) read more

I have been a frequent Belk shopper for years. One reason was their large selection of petite women's clothing. I have just learned that Belk will no longer be carrying dresses for petite women. So as much as I would like to buy local, I will be traveling to Atlanta for most of my clothing purchases. read more
