This is a great store. I went in for a pair of men's dress slacks, and left with 3 pairs. Sales associate had great recommendations on additional discounts. I was so impressed I opened a BELK card, despite being from out of state. So when ever I'm back in HSV, I'll be certain to stop again. They had great Sales this week. Most men's items were 50% off. Received an additional 20% discount and $10 off my next purchase. I plan on returning tomorrow and look for men's dress long sleeve shirts. Only minor item I'd they need more staff. This is a good Belk. Their baby clothing/children's clothing selection is nice! I like their kitchen and houseware selection, too. You can get good deals in their accessory department when they have a sale. I also like their sale items in their special occasion dresses. Their shoe department is nice, too, and they have great shoe sales regularly. They have standard cosmetic counters such as Estee Lauder, Clinique, Bobbie Brown, and MAC. Something about the way the store is "organized," makes it more difficult to find the women's clothing items you are looking for. It seems more organized by brand versus clothing type. I wish it were organized by "Juniors," "Women," "Petite," and "Plus" sizes. read more

I was looking for a specific Coach bag at Belk and tried to get some help from an employee. I saw a woman working in the bag section and asked her if she knew if they carried the bag I wanted. She was very pleasant and informed me that she only put tags on items but that there were two women a few feet away from me that worked in the section. I walked over to the women who quickly turned their backs to me as they saw me coming. I then politely asked if they worked there as I was not able to see their name tags or any sort of indication if they were fellow shoppers or employees. The older of the two women glanced at me and went back to stocking bags and said ya she works there while the other remained silent. No offer to help or ask me what I needed. I asked if they knew if they had the bag I was looking for and the same lady replied no. Nothing more. It was such a cold and honestly rude interaction. Having just come over from Dillards where every employee I encountered was so polite and helpful, it perhaps made the stark contrast stand out and felt extremely negative. I will likely avoid shopping at this Belk in the future as if I am going to spend over $700 on a bag, I would at least like the employee I'm dealing with to be helpful and polite. read more

I visited the Belk at Parkway Place Mall in Huntsville, Alabama, on Sunday the 22nd, between 4:15 and 4:30 p.m. I was looking for assistance at the Elizabeth Arden counter, but no one was there. I approached the Estée Lauder counter, where three women stood. One older white woman with short gray hair and red lipstick responded when I asked if anyone could help at Elizabeth Arden. She told me, "They don't sell color." I asked again for clarity, and she repeated the same phrase. Eventually, she added that the products were only sold online. However, her initial choice of words felt deliberate and inappropriate. After I got help from a helpful MAC associate, the Estée Lauder woman returned to justify herself, but I had already explained my concern. I expect better communication and respectful wording from staff in the future. Thank you for your attention to this matter. read more

It is rare to find Belk employees at the registers. Usually I have to walk around, for a while, to find someone. Julie, at Estee Lauder, really stands out. She is always so helpful and friendly. Even if I am not making a purchase, she always has the nicest greeting. Belk should hire more people like her as she is an amazing employee. read more

H.R. is a joke if you work here. They can never be reached. Don't return phone calls. Don't care about you at all. When you just have a simple question or concern.... They are NEVER to be found. I am very happy with the selection and the value of my purchase, but when trying to check out, the two girls upstairs are overworked always there and there were six people in line so I went downstairs to the men's department to check out. There was a young lady in front of me returning something when she was finished and girl behind the counter, proceeded to put three items on hangers to be put away while she had three people in line. read more

This store must not have any type of customer training program. The cashier that waited on me acted as if I was inconvenience to her. When I said "hello", and set the shirt down that I wanted to buy. She preceded to make me wait while she hung up 5 items of clothing before attempting to help me. She sent the message to me that she not care about me - the customer - feel like my time was not valuable and she would help when she felt like it. I was not important to her in any way shape or form. Belk may be a popular store but your employees leave a LOT to be desired... I will only shop there as a last resort. read more

Ugh. Where do I start? We were trying to find a men's suit. The other Belk, it was on the 2nd floor, but on the first at this location. No one greeted us or acknowledged us. We began our search & "Mr. Bill" greeted us & said he'd be with us when he was done with his current customer. He was really selling the Belk credit card! All the while their selection is spread out & most of the pants are stuffed behind the register. Well, Mr. Bill finished with that customer & we were still searching. Also, they only have 1 fitting room & its 3 sections over. Again, no one asked if we needed help. I politely asked where there was a fitting room & a man said "right in front if you". I looked at him & he nodded to look BEHIND me. Now I really don't want to give this company any money. The fitting room didn't have but 1 hook & was the size of a bathroom stall. Then we needed a shirt. I hated to open up a pinned dress shirt but no one was around. As we were trying one on Mr. Bill come over & tells us they have shirts already open, but didn't happen to show us where that was. He measured my husband & gave us some suggestions & then left. So, that shirt didn't work. We're looking for Mr. Bill who stated repeatedly that he's been doing this for 40 years. So, we had to open another shirt. Other customers were looking for help & frustrated. When we checked out. We had to hear the whole belk credit card sales pitch. I think he can provide good customer service to one person at a time but he's losing 10 customers that are leaving!! Belk may want to consider grouping designers together better like Macy's. I just read reviews for Belk and surprised at all of the negative reviewers. I suppose shopping at a hometown store that runs sales continuously to provide the most value for the dollar isn't what snowflakes want? Rather than dogging them why don't you shop online of some place else! I'm sure you would rather pay more money and have less variety and I'm sure you would like to see all of your hometown stores fail so your only option is to buy online especially since you'll end up returning 75% of what you bought due to fit or color issues. Personally I've found Belk to be a great place to buy clothes, accessories, and household items especially since they are almost always having a sale. I understand that their stores are generally under staffed but I'm willing to accept that given the money I save. And by the way, I've found their associates to be friendly, knowledgeable, and professional, but maybe that's an Alabama thing. Maybe saving money is not your goal so find yourself a store that's expensive and well staffed and good luck because they'll soon be on the chopping block like so many brick and mortar establishments that have succumbed to this online world. read more

BELK was, and remains, one of the worst shopping experiences I have ever had. I attempted to return a Christmas gift, only to be informed that my ONLY COICE was a gift card. I informed the store manager, who was dressed like he was headed camping, that I neither live near a BELK nor shop there. He told me that was too bad. This review is for Tamara who works at one of the makeup counters in the store. I was having my wedding in Huntsville, but live out of town. I met Tamara at the store and told her that I was interested in a trial makeup session for my wedding. I first made sure she was available on my wedding day and that she could come to the wedding venue. She said yes to both, so I had scheduled a trial makeup session with her before I left town again. She later texted me saying she couldn't make it at our scheduled time, and we were unable to find a time that worked to reschedule during that visit to Huntsville. I had one more visit to town before the wedding and the only time we could work was 30 minutes before the store opened. I specifically made sure that the store would allow that and she confirmed that it was fine. So a few days before our appointment, I texted her to confirm. She replied saying that the store didn't allow us to come before it opened. Um, she had already told me that they did allow it, and later she didn't even notify me that they didn't allow it! What if I hadn't sent that follow up text?? My time during that visit to town was booked with all sorts of other wedding stuff. I tried to work something out...the few times I had free, she couldn't make it. She was not at all trying to work with me or apologetic. She must have known that what she did was wrong because she gave me a nasty attitude instead & was completely rude! This was the last thing I needed two weeks before the wedding! That was completely unacceptable and unprofessional!! Stay away from Tamara at the makeup counter if you want reliable service!! read more

Belk has SALES! The staff is quick to presell for upcoming sales. This means that Belk will hold your merchandise and ring it the day of the sale at the discounted price. Then you can pick it up at your convenience. So what is the catch? You have to wait in line at the office to pick up your presell items. It doesn't sound bad until you wait for an hour plus to pick up your merchandise. They are understaffed and the staff they have to help you are looking for LOST presell items. You would think I would learn but I decided that I could wait 5 days and the rush would be over. Not at all. I was first in line for an hour. And again two ladies were looking for lost presell items. The third left for lunch. Belk offered no apologies and they continue this failed system. BEWARE of your time. Belk offers no apologies! read more
