After eight years, time for an update. I found a great deal on pre-Christmas golf clothing by Tommy Hilfiger. A beautiful 1/4 zip with pockets marked down from $80.00 bucks to $49.00. Had to buy it on- line though. It was an EZ transaction & I got multiple email updates through the order update process. I love Belk but I am giving them three stars because of their check out experience. I always have to circle the store looking for someone to check me out when I'm ready to make my purchases. I have the best luck finding an associate at fine jewelry and the shoe department. Both of those associates are wonderful and deserve five stars for their customer service. I understand it's a department store but, it would be nice if they had baskets or more shopping carts during sales. I usually limit my purchases because I can't carry them all to the dressing room. Use their app and credit card for great coupons and deals. read more

I haven't been to Belk in many years so on my recent trip to Carolina Place, I decided to stop by and check out the selection. Let's get straight to the point; the selection in the Ralph Lauren department is slim, meager and non existent. I looked around for about 10 minutes and didn't see anything worth buying. On top of the lack of selection, the customer service is horrible. As I walked around the small department about 300 sq feet, I was never greeted, no one asked if I needed assistance and I was standing next to the sales associate to see if he would ask. I cannot give Belk anything higher than 1 star because they honestly didn't even try to be friendly, accommodating or cordial. Skip this location if you can. read more

I just went shopping at Belk for my birthday with a gift card and Belk dollors plus Belk money for my birthday. I went to pay after being rung up and was told that I couldn't use my gift cards with my Belk money! This makes no sense. So I get the discounts with my Belk money and coupons or no discounts and use my gift card and pay twice as much!! This is absolutely asinine! read more

Belk is your typical department store. Gobs of clothes for men, women and kids. A huge makeup area, lots of jewelry and accessories. None of it really appeals to me though. I'm just not the department store type. I suppose these places are becoming less and less popular these days too. Brick and mortar on such a huge scale is a dying breed. I can only speak for the selection for men. They have lots of well-known brands that you don't typically find a specific store for separately. Levi's, Polo Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger. That kind of stuff. I checked out the Levi's but the selection is limited when compared to Macy's. It's unfortunate that Macy's is no longer here in this mall while Belk has held out. Macy's is just a better store, sorry! Prices are typical for most things but can be a bit high. There are almost too many people working here. The makeup area is unnervingly bright and off-putting. They're almost like those stalls in the middle of the mall where the guys come up to you and get you to try something out. It's an overwhelming experience for me coming in here. I prefer to stick to an exact shopping list, go in and get out. read more

I have not been to Belk's in some time but went for the charity pre-sale on the advice of a friend. Who knew Belk's had a MAC shop, The Limited and a decent men's department for which I racked up on clothes for my boys. Looking forward to going back and shopping for myself. read more

Currently at MAC for the National Lipstick Day hosted by MAC Cosmetics. Arriving to this location I knew it would be well structured and successful from the note the employees put on the door. It provided the waiting customer that the line would form at the outdoor entrance of Bell and that everyone must be 12 and older to receive the product. Around 11:30am MAC Cosmetics employees came out to give instructions about the event and then provided wristbands to everyone in line. Explaining that they would also bring out the 9 featured lipsticks so we can have an idea of what to expect. Overall I think bell did a great job preparing this event for what could be a very large crowd. Walking into the door, we could immediately head to the MAC Counter and thankfully with our wristbands having numbers on them we could take our time and not feel rushed. We were guaranteed a lipstick. Over all great job to MAC cosmetics and Bell on a successful event day. read more

Lady at Lancôme was nice to come over and help me with Bobbi Brown since the Bobbi rep wasn't available. She didn't make me wait at all for her help. She was very nice. Rung me up quickly. Sweet lady The Mac counter was totally the opposite. The rep never acknowledged my presence even though I was looking at makeup while she gossiped and put make up on a customer. Another person came over looking for their keys and she stopped to help them. Walked past me twice and didn't acknowledge me at all. That's what I don't like about Mac. What a pleasant experience! I came in to buy some shirts and was very pleased with the plentiful selection available here. There was so many to choose from, that I bought more than I had planned, and even bought items I had not planned. Dressing rooms were clean and comfortable. Our salesman was polite and courteous. Things that work: 1) Spacing, 2) Lighting, 3) Layout Things that confuse me: A) What do people buy at Belk's that they can't get at Macy's or Dillard's or JCPenney? I went in with a giftcard from the 'rents and eventually bought the thing I avoid like the plague, fake jewelry. Since I'm notorious for losing an earring - I try to never buy anything other than a necklace (gold) since I lose jewelry. Well, they had a cute pair and a few others that could work and they provide lots of coupons with a well written policy (KUDOS!) but I didn't find much else. Then the Xmas items could have been marked down a bit more so I'll wait to walk down the next sale. I ended up buying cooling pillows from Macy's but think I'll get the cooling/gel mattress pad. After working retail for the first time ever during a Holiday season - I am more empathetic or at least understanding of "there's no need to ask the workers about something because they just may never know" but of course, I asked anyway with the "hope" that the young lady could tell me about the pillows. Umm, nope. All in all, I can't give Belk's some high praise for being about par for the course/comparatively to their peers. I didn't get bad service or have a problem with anything. Poor customer service. Associate number 023744 in the men's active department on Friday May 31st at 11:15am made me feel as though I was bothering her when I asked if I could check out to buy my new gym shorts. I considered just putting them back and leaving. Prices on amazon are much better. Actually pulled out my phone and got the other things I needed while still in the store. Belk never seems to have just what I'm looking for, but I was completely under dressed not realizing we could still have 40 degree weather at the end of April... so I went in to find something to put on over my sleeveless dress. I really didn't want to spend more that $25, and found a little jean shirt in the juniors department for about that price. I bought that and a little white top for about $50 altogether. It was Kohl's quality at Belk prices, but that's just how it is anymore. The reason I'm giving the Belk 4 stars is their employees were all super nice. The little old lady ringing me up was sweet. Most of the people at the Clinique counter. however, didn't know what planet they were on But, the lady who I found there was quick and helpful and got me the makeup I needed. Okay- come to think of it, this is a generous four stars, but I would go back... if I had no other choice. read more

My first time at the Pineville location was 2 weeks ago. I went there to visit the Mac cosmetic line. I ended up ordering with Clinic, as they were in "Gift". I bought my favorite "Moisture Surge" moisturizer and Happy perfume. I went back Tuesday to pick everything up and received a Tote and 2 of the latest style cosmetic bags plus a free lipstick. Wonderful Service!! While I was there a wonderful lady named Michelle from cosmetics came to help me and my daughter. Thanks to her, I bought a set of Vince Comuto, one of my very favorites for a great price. She was more than helpful and from now on I am going to make the drive to go there more often! read more

Super excited that I found a beautiful dress I loved. However, they didn't have my size which wasn't a problem so I asked the attendant if they could order it for me. She said sure. They can order it and have or delivered to my house for free (what an awesome service!). I went ahead and ordered 2 dresses because I wasn't sure what size I would need. The dresses came the next week. Tried them both on and went to return the one that didn't fit. That's when I noticed that I had been charged for shipping. When I was returning the dress a different lady helped me and when I showed her the receipt and explained that when I purchased the dress I was told it would be free shipping. She just said, "Oh." I called because I needed help figuring out what I had returned from my wedding registry and the lady on the phone is extremely figity and asks for my number to call me back. While I'm telling her my number she cuts me off before I'm even finished telling her my number and she hangs up.....I called back and said " I was just speaking to someone on the phone and couldn't finish my sentence before getting hung up on" as I can tell it's the same lady...she then says "oh I'm sorry" like it wasn't her. I then left a message on the store managers voicemail and I get a call 10 min ago explaining what happened and all she says is "so what is it exactly you needed help with" um I called to complain, I don't need your help. So if you go to this store, good luck finding someone who isn't plain useless.. read more

Its a decent Belk, but really South Park's is the best in the area and sets the bar high so the others just fall a bit short in comparison. Sales associates are nice, there is always plenty of parking, but I tend to wander and not really find the brands I am looking for and don't buy anything. I went to Belk today with the specific purpose of looking for a peacoat for under a $100 dollars. Found one for $69 that I loved. I went to check out and had to wait behind 2 people for 20 minutes. One was applying for a credit card and one had coupons. My husband saw 4 other registers that were empty with no cashiers. I have to use crutches when I walk so it kind of irked me that I had to wait when someone could opened another register. I think Belk is a fabulous store but they could be more accommodating by opening more registers. read more

Bra shopping is slightly more fun than a root canal. Cindy in the Intimates department at Belk helped me find the right size and asked the right questions to be able to recommend brands. Clearly very knowledgeable. Service would have been a bit better if they had more staff. And I object to bra prices being so high, on principle. I do realize this isn't a discount store. read more
