My wife and I went shopping at the Belks stores in Southern Pines NC on 5-23-2026. As I walked toward the check out counter a Hispanic male was standing back a few feet from the register. I ask him if he was in the check out line and he told me that he was waiting on the cashier straight ahead of him and that I could go to the other cashier. After speaking to him I went to the other cashier (a white female) to check out. She begin fussing me out stating I was jumping line ahead of some other customers walking up. The other customers never spoke to the Hispanic male who was at the check out line when I arrived there. I am 75 years old and did not appreciate her talking down to me like an animal or a child. After she mouthed off to me I told her that I was in line ahead of the other people and tossed the clothing to her telling her where she could put them and left the store. If the store has video cameras they can review the incident and see that I asked the only person (Hispanic male) who was at the cashier's counter if he was in line before proceeding to the check out. The other customers must have been family or friends to be given priority. Regardless, the Belk employee had no reason to talk down to me like she did. I have been going to Belks to shop since I was a teenager (over 60 years when they had a store in downtown Aberdeen) to purchase clothing, jewelry and other items but will not step foot in another one again. Any video would back up what I have stated. **Store can not survive without people shopping there! Maybe this type of incident is part of the reason Belks is having financial issues. read more

Went in today to look at a pair of boots. Charles was assisting another customer so I just sat down and waited. He was so good with her checking on several pairs of shoes she wanted to try on. She did buy a pair. He couldn't have been nicer. So, my turn I asked about what I wanted to see and the store didn't have them, but he could order them for me. He ordered them for me. After chatting a bit, turns out he was in the women's shoe department for the day. He's usually in the men's department. He was great! I got a great value on what I bought and so did the lady before me. Thank you, Charles! read more

I happened to stop in and do some shopping. I was looking for something special for my sister and ended up at the fine jewelry counter. I was lucky enough to work with a tall blond woman who was knowledgeable, professional and incredibly helpful! I wish the store had 100 more of her! She was awesome! read more

During my Christmas shopping me and my husband went to belks. My attentions was to grab some clothing for my grandchildren and this young fella Matthew grab my husband attention in the cologne section and showed him various selections. That day I've learned something new the three types of Cologne and how their based. I husband can't wait to go back for another brand. My husband don't wear cologne, but he sold it and he loves it! I've tried encouraging him for 30 years to wear cologne and he loves it now. read more

I'm usually very happy with my purchases at Belk but I now have an exception. I recently purchased 4 ladies t-shirts. In the past their t-shirts have very little shrinkage and wash very well. I tried then on, they were nice and long and fit perfectly. I washed them to take on my vacation. After the first washing I noticed they shrunk in length by about an 1 and 1/2 inches. As I wore them and washed them they continued to shrink in length and grow in width. After 3 washes the fit was now awful! When I got home I sent an e-mail stating my problem with their shirts. Belk has a policy that if you want to return items they must be in new condition with tags attached and not washed. Well, if I hadn't washed them after wearing i guess they would still fit but most people wash their clothing after wearing and if they weren't washed and dried they would still fit. I don't want to smell unpleasant so I washed them! I understand their return policy but if they had a decent product testing department they would have found the problem with these shirts I wouldn't have purchased them. I will no longer buy anything at Belk and I stuck with 4 shirts that don't fit either in length or width. read more

It was pretty darn handy when we found ourselves as guests in town unexpectedly and looking for some clean clothes at 6PM on a Saturday evening when boutique shops in town are closing up. Though, I was a little confused as I wondered around the entire store to find the Ladies section only to learn it's separate from Men's and "Other". You actually need to go outside and down a bit to enter Woman's Retail Therapy area. No Worries... cuz they had just what we both needed even if we had to search a little. It's less than 20 mins outside Pinehurst in Southern Pines which is like I said... pretty darn handy. read more

I love our Belk's. They have great choices. I hate that they keep moving things around and I have to look to find my name brands. But that's ok. I almost always find something on my venture through the store. I've shopped at bigger Belk's and they aren't any better than our local Southern Pines location. read more

Small selection of clothing stores in the area. I usually end up at Belk's for best selection and really good sales. Department layout can be awkward but their new layout is more intuitive. Service is very spotty, but generally good. Biggest complaint is the horrible music they play. Lots of bad country western music. I want to rush through shopping so I don't have to continue to listen to it. Overall pretty good store. read more

Many years ago Belk had great service but In recent years it has declined. I get frustrated with sales associates completely ignoring customers because they are too busy socializing with each other or on the phone, so I stopped shopping there a while back. My husband bought me earrings from there for Christmas, but because they are earrings I already have I went to return them. I had the receipt and I even wore my identical pair to show that I wasn't just trying to return earrings i had worn for an occasion and was done with. (I used to work retail, so I know people do that). The associate couldn't make the receipt scan so she wanted to put it in as a "no receipt" return and give me a gift certificate. Um, no. I have the receipt and I should be able to get a refund. 30 min later after consulting another associate she told me she couldn't do it because I didn't have the credit card they were purchased with. So now my husband has to take them back on his day off with his card. Further proof to me that shopping at Belk isn't worth the frustration. read more

I would like to give a special shout to Stacey in the Clinique Cosmetics Department at Belk. She helped me find the right lipstick and blush that matched my needs and did it in such a friendly and kind way. Just an aside: while I was shopping in the Ladies department, I heard my name being paged to return to Cosmetics. Stacey made a small error on my bill and paged me to return for a refund. How many sales associates would do that after a cash sale? Great service and I will be coming back to Clinique and Belk again! read more

Joyce was the best salesclerk. I found a blouse marked in the clearance rack that still had a tag reading $44. When she scanned it, the price was down to $4.98. While she couldn't identify other items that may be that price, she volunteered to keep my pile of clothes and scan anything else I was interested in to see if it brought the price down too. I found 2 more at that price!! read more
