It's a big clinic with lots of doctors, so it tends to be very busy and there's usually a mum or two trying to calm down their sick children. But hey, it's all par for the course with bulk billing GPs. The receptionists can seem a little run off their feet at times and as such there can be a wait to register your attendance, but they certainly know what they're doing. The doctors vary in efficiency and temperament, so it's hard to generalise the actual medical side of things, but I've experienced both dismissive and very patient and caring treatment at this practice. There's also access to the adjacent pharmacy, and the hours are much later than most, so it's easy to fit an appointment around work schedules. If you take Grattan Street away from the university, you'll then take a right and go up 200m and you'll find it on your left hand side. They provide a drop in service where you can usually be seen the same day. You have to wait for this as it is done on a first come, first serve basis. It pays to come early to minimise your waiting time. I have seen Dr Penn on a number of times and he is really good. I've also seen other doctors and they have all offered impeccable service. I've been seen on the very day that I've called to make an appointment. Another bonus is that I've never had to wait longer than about 15 minutes. The waiting room is at the back of the centre and there are lots of fairly recent magazines to be read and a little children's play area with toys. There are usually two receptionists at the reception desk and one of them, the lady who always wears brightly coloured lipstick, is always smiley and friendly and quick to attend to patients. All this is very refreshing when compared to my experiences of other GP surgeries in Brunswick. The doctors I've seen here have all been really good and offered appropriate treatment. I saw the women's health nurse once too and she was so lovely. I have felt a little bit rushed through my appointments but then I've never really been there for anything more serious than a flu so that is usually a quick appointment.

The waiting area is calm and they even have The Age to read (which is a nice change from other places where having nothing to read by 3-month-old issues of WHO Weekly tend to make you feel worse!). This practice uses electronic health records so you can see any doctor and they have all your background info up there on the screen. If needed, you can call back to get test results and the doctors give you time on the phone. Top-notch - get in their and enjoy the family-oriented service they provide so well!
