I worked with Angie to alter my wedding dress. Nothing too fancy. Just shortening the length, sewing on a belt accessory, and adding a bustle. Angie was incredibly professional and talked me through what needed to be done. It never felt like she was trying to upsell me and was incredibly transparent over what certain accessories should cost and where I could look to find them. She quoted me an incredibly affordable price that was way under what others had quoted me (*cough David's Bridal cough*). She did excellent work, and the day of, I felt amazing in my wedding dress. Angie also worked with my Mom to alter her Mother of the Bride dress. My Mom was having a tough time finding a dress that she liked and suited her. Angie was incredibly patient offering my Mom suggestions and working with her when it came to make the final alterations. I really really appreciated all her patience working with my Mom. I got married a month ago (10/12/14) and had my dress alterations done here. I bought my dress back in February from a shop in Berkley. The dress was big and definitely needed alterations, but I knew the prices would be outrageous where I bought my dress. With the good ole checklist from "The Knot," I knew I needed to get an alterations appointment around July - August at the absolute latest! I started off by calling alteration shops near my house. The first place I called the lady seemed pressed to get me in there ASAP because she gets busy with Prom & Homecoming. I didn't like her explanation and thought it was weird and kind of soon for me to be bringing my dress in. Prom is generally in May so why would I get alterations 5-6 months before my wedding. Nope not going there! Another place I called there was a bit of a language barrier. I immediately decided not to go there. The last thing I wanted/needed was difficulty in communication while handling alterations for my wedding dress! Umm no. Too important of a task to risk miscommunication. After two strikes I started feeling discouraged. How the heck am I going to find a place to do these alterations that will do great work and I can trust??? Yelp! Duh. Bella Alterations came up and wasn't too far of a commute from my house. I called them to see when I needed to come in and they said August would be fine. There was no pressure to get me in there - strictly informative and completely up to me. I asked when they had available and an appointment was scheduled. I ended up getting scheduled to work that day, so I called to let them know and they were able to accommodate me with a new appt day. I was so happy/relieved! Appt day was great. The ladies were so nice and down to Earth! The one lady (wish I got her name!) felt like an Aunt, and the other two ladies reminded me of my friend's grandma. Very friendly, sweet and blunt/honest. I loved them! Made me feel comfortable as soon as I walked in there. The price for alterations was almost half of what I expected to pay! Very pleasant surprise. They told me the dress would be ready in 4 weeks. I went back for my dress in a month. Fit perfectly! The bustle was two buttons - which made it easier than having to have someone tie up my dress. Yuck! They told me I could leave my dress there and pick it up the week of the wedding if I wanted - which I did. I picked it up 3 days before my wedding, paid for the alterations, and asked them to press/steam my veil for me. I didn't try on my dress again until the wedding day, and it still fit perfect. Luckily! I realize I should've tried it on again, but figured had I gained weight not much could be done in 3 days. Lol! I know my matron of honor had a little difficulty buttoning the bustle, but I think it was just because it was either too stiff or too much fabric. Not 100%, but I know there weren't any issues with it once she got it - it remained in place the entire night! Couldn't be any happier with my experience with the women at Bella Alterations! I'll refer anyone I know in need of alterations to them - they're that great. Wish I had a reason to go back to them, such great people! read more

I also lost a few pounds between buying the dress in December 2021 and the wedding in August 13. Angela made the dress look amazing. She is very skilled at her craft, calm, and super professional. She also provides high-quality alterations for a very affordable price. I had 3 fittings overall and got many compliments on my dress. My bridesmaids said it literally looked that it was made just for me. Angela also was amazing at doing the alterations for my flower girl's dress, who I was not actually able to the shop due to conflicting schedules and her mom's very recent delivery of a new baby girl. Instead, Angela gave me instructions on how to pin the flower girls dress and between that and some videos I took of her in the dress, Angela was able to do the perfect alteration of the hem. The women at this place are miracle workers!!! I had been dreaming of a backless wedding dress and refused to be a bride who wears strapless. That being said, I of course fell in love with a dress that happened to originally be strapless and have a covered back. I took the dress to these two lovely women and they said no problem! After doing a lot of research on where to get my wedding dress fitted and altered, I finally started going to places for an appointment. Bella Alterations was the only place that put me at ease about what alterations they would be doing and they listened to what I wanted. My dress had quite a bit of work done and I wanted an illusion neckline and back with buttons added. The final result was amazing and I couldn't be happier. When I went to pick it up, it felt a little tight up top but stupidly I was in a rush and figured it would be fine. Two days before the wedding I tried on the dress and it would barely hook and was sooo tight!! I knew I'd be so uncomfortable at the wedding. I called and they told me to come in. I drove straight there and they let it out while I waited...only took about 30 minutes. They also didn't charge me for the fix. After having a dress disaster with the alterations performed by the salon I bought my dress from I was sent by the salon to Angela at Bella Alterations. The disaster was identified on Weds, my wedding was on Saturday, we were assured by Angela that we could come in Thurs AM and try the dress on and it would be fixed. We showed up on schedule and tried it on, while Angela had done an amazing job correcting the issue of the bridal salon we quickly noticed that the last set of alterations the bridal salon was supposed to have performed were not done and the dress was several inches too big in the hips! I immediately started freaking out, Angela calmed me down and assured me she could and would fix it in 1 hour and we could grab a bite then come back and try it on. She called in 50 minutes and said it was complete. I tried it on (second time that day) and it fit like a glove. Not only was Angela extremely professional and sweet but she did beautiful work as well! I have Angela to thank for making me look great on my wedding day. Bella Alterations did a great job on my wedding dress, which fit like it was made for me on my wedding day! They are efficient, on time, and also reasonably priced. As soon as I had my first fitting, I felt comfortable that my dress was in good hands. When I came to pick it up a few days before my wedding, my dress and veil were steamed, pinned up to keep its shape, and put into a larger dress bag. I got my wedding dress altered here and it was such a great experience. They had me come in only two months before the wedding for my first fitting. After that I came back at the end of the month to try it on. Then they kept it for a few final alterations before I picked it up about a week before the wedding. It was steamed for me and they put cardboard in it to keep its shape. I didn't even need to do any steaming touch ups on the big day - it looked great. She has been a dress maker since she was a child, and it is very obvious that she knows what she's doing! After much searching, I found the perfect bridal gown, but it was a corset back, which was not what I had in mind. I ended up getting the dress (10 sizes bigger!) and having the back altered. I had Bella alter my wedding dress. My dress had a lot of work to be done, and they quoted me a fair price and I had received a rave review from a co-worker. I brought my dress in about 6 months before my wedding, and after several appointments making changes, my dress was transformed. I had a weight change the week before the wedding and the fix was made in a hour with little issue. I bought my wedding dress from a boutique in Birmingham that was going to charge me over 600$ for alterations. When I had ordered the dress, I ordered a size 8, and by the time I received the dress 6 months later I had become a size 4.
