Could not have nicer things to say about working with My Chef and Jamie Walsh for our wedding day…read morecatering. We met Jamie at our venue's vendor expo and were immediately impressed by their services, pricing, and vast food offerings. It was a no brainer to book with their group! We had our tasting a couple months before our wedding day; which is complimentary to the couple and a $50 charge for any additional guest to join. They have you select 8-10 appetizers, 2 salads, and 4 entrees to taste at their Naperville location. They also have displays of china, silverware, glasses and more to help couples select what aligns aesthetically for their special day. Jamie worked with us to make small modifications to their standard offerings to make the food exactly what we wanted! Our wedding day came and we were floored by the quality/presentation of food, level of detail in place settings, and service from all staff members. We had multiple guests say that this was some of the best wedding food they've had, steaks were not over cooked, and food tasted fresh. Jamie also let us add desserts a week out to reallocate money from a couple of guests who last minute were unable to attend. Their team was even nice enough to service items not purchased through their group: disposables for the late night snack, display and refilling of cupcakes, etc. Overall, their group went above and beyond for us under Jamie's leadership. Our tables looked great, our food was wonderful, and their team was fabulous. We truly appreciate all they've done for us and could not recommend them more! I am forever THANKFUL. Their experience, organization, and just willingness to commit to making this day so special. From the start, we loved their food and knew immediately they were it. We even did an additional tasting to look at other options on their menu. Wedding day ... everything that could have happened to us ... happened (never returning to our venue ever). Luckily none of the guests found out because they were all distracted about the food. During contrail hour, the staff was nonstop bringing appetizers because people were taking thirds, fourths, etc. & I'm still hearing about it! Then dinner was exquisite. The portion of the food is very notable... GENEROUS and FILLING. Even my pickiest family members were asking for more. We had a lot of DIYs and they accommodated all of them. Even the ones I brought last minute. And the staff -- every single person -- was so kind, friendly, and just lovely to be around. The bartenders were absolute champs. They even went above and beyond to make us happy while our venue was being EXTRAORDINARILY difficult. Stephanie even came to help us de stress us & the bartenders were just phenomenal - trust me, our 170 guests do not mess around with an open bar. In conclusion, our venue.. never again. Tim delivered our food & hauled it all the way up to the roof where we had the party- I wasn't expecting that at all he went above and beyond. Above all else, this catering is the most affordable best value I have ever encountered in Chicago & I plan events & have seen them all. She was fantastic to work with from the get go. She gave me about a million options to chose from...finger foods, sandwiches, desserts. I wanted it to be as easy as possible so we went with a bunch of mini sammies, caprese bites, veggie tray...I can't even remember what else. The food was all fantastic and beautifully presented. You can tell she really prides herself on her work. Delivered right on time with all the fixings and extra sauces to boot! Labels made it easy for guests to figure out what was what. I'd heard from a few members of my mother's club about Taste of Home. I haven't lived in the area for quite some time, so all I could do was trust their experience; and I was so glad I did. I explained the need to put our socially-distancing guests at ease with a range of outdoor, afternoon finger food that was individually-wrapped. Donna recommended an array of appetizer sandwiches and cookies that turned out to be real crowd pleasers! Eliminating the use for any utensils was certainly the way to go, and as if to underline that point, trays of non-wrapped cookies and cakes that people brought were hardly touched. My family is so pleased with the outcome, my area siblings are all looking into using Taste of Home for family dinners. We believe in keeping our purchasing as local as possible during this economic uncertainty, and Taste of Home has provided another great Hinsdale option for when cooking is better off done by someone else. From the very beginning, we knew FFT was the right vendor for us because they took our favorite foods and crafted a completely customized menu perfectly tailored to what we enjoyed and what we envisioned for the event. From there, they then worked with us to refine the menu as we kept coming up with crazy ideas. We literally emailed Anna about how we had just tasted a delicious Oreo brownie and she had it added to our desserts right away. We also wanted a very custom bar menu, and they worked with us to get us all the different brands we were looking for, going so far as to drive to Indiana to source some of them. The other aspect of their menu that made such an impact was all the interactive food stations. Everything is so creatively presented and designed. At our tasting, Anna had literally taken elements of our décor and paper goods and other motifs and woven them throughout the presentations from custom serving trays to glass designs. Everything felt intentional and thought out. Guests were constantly praising this attention to detail. Every station had some element of action to it as well, making everything feel like a unique experience. In all of this, the food was all delicious. We wish we can eat and experience it all over again. We still dream of Chef Arlene's Guava and Cheese Empanadas. Throughout the process, Anna was extremely easy to work with and very responsive. One thing we wanted to highlight was that we wanted to be very careful with allergens. Despite the high number of dishes, Anna did a fantastic job working to highlight all the possible allergens in every item, taking the request very seriously. We also wanted to praise the service for the actual day-of catering. They had their full team there, and the professional service was fantastic from top to bottom. Our guests praised the food endlessly, and people who were planning their wedding wanted to know all the background details into our catering choice. That is just more proof that Food for Thought was the perfect caterer, and we couldn't have asked for anything more.

I have calls asking can she make me a small pan please. They melted in my mouth. They needed no seasoning. Truth be told. I was taking the remainder home and ate them cold. The mixed veggie combo was so fresh and not your mundane peas and carrots. So glad squash was added, dad loves squash, along with green beans, carrots and variety bell peppers. At the last minute I grabbed a bottle of hot sauce for the chicken and took it back home unopened. It was not needed. The chicken was so tender it fell off the bone. YES ! All of it was so good. I have been using Chef K for about 14 years for all of my events. So proud she is taking off in business. If you want a good meal that people will love with that home touch she is your caterer. I've had her do all sides, mac and cheese, green beans. I've had peach cobbler cups for my daughters celebration. Chef K is to go to for your needs. Give her a try. You will not be disappointed.
