I came here on a Thursday night for my first ever night of BINGO (09/17/15) with a soon-to-be…read moremarried friend; so I dubbed today's activities: "Bingo with the Bride." I came in a little late with my friend, but the ladies running the show were all very nice and one of them even helped me catch up in time to win a Bingo during the first game. I was a little sad to discover that the Bingo staff ladies CANNOT accept tips... they were all very kind the night that I went. Also, the Bingo players that were there were all very kind and friendly! I had one player tell me there was free coffee and food (at a minimal charge) in the kitchen area, and a couple of other players who explained what the winning bingos would be for each round I participated in (super helpful for a first-timer and I'm extremely grateful). The free coffee was mediocre (I wasn't expecting LavAzza), but because it's free I'd definitely have a cup when I go back for more Bingo. For my first time, I liked this location for playing Bingo and I would definitely return because the people were all VERY friendly, and the building was cleanly, and not far from home. Some information I gathered: A stack of Bingo cards (3×3) was $15 Bingo Stampers were $1 Bonus Games were 2 for $5 (totally worth it/I won $500)

While I'm not sure who handles the catering, if it's the venue or someone my hosts hired, the pastries and finger foods offered were absolutely divine and plentiful. I particularly loved the assortment of sweets and desserts laid out before the main meal. As someone with a serious sweet tooth, I indulged in quite a few treats. What I appreciated most was that everything was bite-sized, allowing guests to sample a little bit of everything without feeling guilty if they didn't like something. So if someone is reading this, get the pastry chef's number. After the sweet indulgence, the main courses were served. Starting with soup, followed by salad, and an array of main dishes served family-style. I enjoyed the family-style servings as it allowed me to taste a bit of everything. However, the protein portions were quite generous, and after all the sweets, I found myself quite full. While the main entree was good, I have to say the other dishes stole the show. Now, let's talk about the dance floor - it was massive! Having such a large dancing area was a refreshing change from many other weddings I've attended. What else is there to say? If you have a small-to-mid-sized event to host then I strongly encourage you to have it here. We came for a friend's birthday party and had an absolute blast. The main (ground floor) room offered exactly what was needed for the gathering: ample space to mingle, a central bar, a plethora of places to sit, a clean bathroom, amazing food, and an even more amazing staff. (I also heard the upstairs is really cool but didn't get a look for myself) Our group was not large, and not particularly rowdy*, but the space and the level of service made it feel much more intimate. From the moment we walked in the door we felt warmly welcomed by everyone. The bartender made quick work of all drink orders and the serving of the food was perfectly timed. Speaking of the food: wow. It was DELICIOUS! I had three full plates myself. And I took some leftovers home. Incredible edibles! But another word about the staff, because they really made this whole experience... not only were they friendly but they were Johnny On The Spot with cleaning everything up. No plate was left for more than a minute without being scooped up and no drink was left spilled either. Additionally, towards the end of the night, *someone had had just a bit too much fun but the staff was totally cool and completely helpful. They are top notch. As you can tell, I can go on and on. So, this section of Brookfield has a most interesting history. The land was donated, or sold, by Mrs. Edith Rockefeller McCormick in 1919. The architect chosen to design this building was William Drummond, an associate of Frank Lloyd Wright, and it is very evident inside the building. It originally was for meetings and a primary school. The first classes started on September 21, 1920. It also served as a nondenominational church in the 1920's and 1930's. For over 90 years it has served as a meeting place for groups: concerts; dances; Fourth of July, Christmas, and Halloween celebrations; and family functions. Predating Hollywood, California, in 1987, they, and other representatives from communities sharing the Hollywood name, defeated an effort by the mayor of Hollywood, California to copyright the name for its exclusive use. It is located just west of Riverside-Brookfield High School. The building has a main event room with a lovely fireplace that we totally enjoyed on the wintry night we were there. The original windows are still in place and you can tell you are in a Prairie style building. Available for rental, you bring in your own food and drinks and have the option to rent the kitchen. Tables and chairs are provided. Party on.
