I purchased a Groupon, having moved to Bedford Hills recently, I am a big believer in supporting local business - made a salon appointment and took a partial day off from work to make my appointment on time. I need to preface this by saying I believe the salon owner seems sweet and well-meaning, but when I walked in, she was alone - there was one person sitting in her chair with color in her hair. The owner looked at me and said she was unfortunately alone and did I want to come back another time or later!?? I looked at her and said I took off work early, not an easy thing to do and I had no where to just waste time - I would sit and wait. The place is tiny so it's pretty hard to ignore my presence sitting there. After a while she takes the woman with the color in her hair to the sink. I couldn't believe she was washing her hair for 30 minutes but I actually looked at my phone and it was 30 minutes. Now we are at 40 minutes after my appt should have begun and a guy walks in and asks if she's ready for him and she doesn't tell him she's seriously backed up - just says for him to come back in a little bit, which annoyed me she was now wasting another person's day because she was way---way off schedule! She brings the woman back to the chair and it was like watching someone in slow motion, almost going backwards as she began combing her wet hair, then talking about the cut/trim and blow dry. Never once did she look at me again, acknowledge how late she was running and using common sense knowing it it took her a half hour to wash hair, it would be possibly another hour at least maybe more to finish this woman off, so I left. Things happen, especially in a small business like hers where maybe she just ended up a person short today, but the one thing she should have done was reach out to the customers who were scheduled and see if they wanted to reschedule versus just letting us all walk in and expect we are going to just walk around town for an hour or 2 in freezing weather just because she doesn't value our time. Again, i think she meant well, but this is her business and customer service should be her top priority. I drove down the street, did a walk in to another salon that had a bunch of customers, the owner did a consult, corrective color, highlights and a glaze and blow dry and I was out in 2.5 hrs. I timed each wash (and they massaged me good) and there was just never a time I was in the sink for 30 minutes. I think Isabelle is sweet, but under today's circumstances, she needed to step it up a few notches to deal with whatever it was that had her so off schedule. read more
