    Pesto Genovese
    Melissa T.

Had the pleasure of dining at Bella Italia and I have to say, I was blown away by the quality of the food. I ordered the Pesto Genovese and garlic dough balls, and both dishes were simply delicious. The Pesto Genovese was bursting with flavor, with a perfect balance of pesto and pasta, while the garlic dough balls were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with just the right amount of garlic. Our waitress was very friendly.

A comfortable Italian dining experience in the heart of Soho. We had arrived on a Tuesday evening after nine and the place was still abuzz with guests. Two Stellas each to start, followed by a glass of the somewhat spicy but very plummy Rosso Puglia San Mario Puglia and the shockingly sweet and mildly immature Primitivo La Masseria Puglia. For antipasti we went with the antipasto misto; it's essentially a cured meat and mozzarella cheese dish accompanied by bitter greens, olives and tomatos - an effective teaser to stimulate the appetite. If the Spaghetti Gamberi was packed with anymore fresh shrimps, it would indeed out muscle the pasta by volume. The employment of jalapenos to amp up the sauce's spiciness was a cheater move but admittedly effective. The Penne Zafferano featured slices of smoked salmon still cold to the touch; the avoidance of outright cooking the fish is very much appreciated. Its inherent smokiness clearly made it the prominent flavor in the dish amidst the less outstanding spinach and cream sauce. I believe capers would have worked here. The ice cream was simply gourmet. I recommend the toffee and vanilla flavors.

    Located right next to theatres.

The service was okay, but food is so plain and has no taste. This is probably the worst Italian food I ever had. Not recommended.

What an incredible concept! Food and drinks: I was very pleased with the bruschetta (pear and honey lavender was amazing, even workout the cheese) and the vegan cannelloni, which is a lasagna-like dish that replaced meat with lentils and managed to taste creamy and rich without dairy. I was less enthusiastic about the bread assortment (some were good, others a bit dry) and the blue algae coconut latte (which was interesting). Ambiance: The restaurant is quaint and cozy. We made reservations, which weren't necessary but no harm. Tip: You do have to take narrow stairs to go to the bathroom so careful! Service: Our waiter was attentive, patient, and helpful. He talked me through all the ways to stay dairy free. We didn't feel rushed either. This place needs to exist. Full stop. I would absolutely return!

The flavors are the closest to the authentic Latin creations I grew up eating, yet also manage to add their own unique and delicious twists to make them pop even more. The ingredients are carefully selected, paired well, and cooked to perfection to make every dish unforgettable. For my first run, I tried the Seared Braised Beef with julienned crispy potatoes, which reminds me of the Lomo Saltado we do in California. The beef is tender and succulent, salty & flavorful, and topped with sliced roasted veggies. The crispy potatoes are amazing, too, but I wish there had been more. This is also the first restaurant I've been to in London that serves fried yuca (cassava) since I moved here... and that was more than 4 years ago. If you're hungry, get this as your side. Brownie points to them for using truffle oil to give them that little extra flair. The drinks don't disappoint, either. Their cocktails are utilizing "better" versions of Latin spirits (think Fair Quinoa Vodka), which means they're slightly pricier but also offer a more varied experience. The wine list is also plentiful, so pick your poison. Given the lively nature of its environment, it's definitely a restaurant for the social experience. However, reservations in advance are strongly recommended, whether you're coming alone or in a group. The ONLY downside I could find about this place was their complete lack of alternative milks. So, if you want something other than dairy to go with your tea or coffee, you're out of luck. In my case, I ended up opting for their Espressini cocktail with Fair Trade Coffee Liqueur instead. I know. What a sacrifice.

Our favorite dessert was the pumpkin flan. We may pass on the califlower and the churros next time. My drink was fabulous. Overall, had a great time, the staff were chatty and even kept the kitchen open for us to have dessert. The inside is modern, trendy, and clean. Highly, highly recommend if you're in town or live in London.
