Pretty mediocre. Food is on the blander side. I got a Carbonara. Their pasta tossed in their cream sauce had no flavour, the only salty thing that had flavour was the pancetta. I feel a little dumb for not realizing this was a HUGE chain in London. We were starving and the menu looked good. We were seated immediately and the service was good - in and out quickly. The bruschetta was good, but the pizza and pasta were not. Im always in favor of pizza and find it hard to mess up, but the flavor of this margarita pizza was so bland and bad. The pasta looked delicious, but tasted also bland and had no flavor. Super disappointing. We've been here twice already during our stay. The food is so fresh and delicious. The drinks are super tasty, well balanced, and amazing. Compared to the food and drinks in the U.S, i 1000% prefer how the food in London tastes , especially in this restaurant. The service was just right. My dish was very mediocre, but the Tiramisu dessert was quite good. We were the only customers inside the restaurant and the server wasn't very attentive. She did not explain the way you pay for your tab, so I figured it out on my own in the plenty of time I had since she cleared our dishes. Apparently you scan a bar code on the table, enter your table #, and pay via credit card. It's really different but I can't imagine it would be easy for senior citizens. Also, wasn't a fan of the "service charge" for crappy service. The restaurant itself was very small and they decided to squeeze as many tables and chairs as possible into such a small space. Had the pleasure of dining at Bella Italia and I have to say, I was blown away by the quality of the food. I ordered the Pesto Genovese and garlic dough balls, and both dishes were simply delicious. The Pesto Genovese was bursting with flavor, with a perfect balance of pesto and pasta, while the garlic dough balls were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with just the right amount of garlic. I asked for fresh ground pepper after food delivery, second server came to offer what I asked and did not offer my other guests if they wanted any and turned back right away. Food: Lamb Ragu - Pasta was not amazing and not a generous portion of lamb ragu. The pasta was not al dante. Feels like pasta was too starchy and that it doesn't blend with the sauce Asked to switch agnello pasta to capellini but they didn't have. Calamari - Was a bit too salty. Grilled chicken - Chicken can have more flavour. Without the sides this dish will be even worst. One single mushroom but most flavorful on the dish. The onion rings also came with no sauce. A comfortable Italian dining experience in the heart of Soho. We had arrived on a Tuesday evening after nine and the place was still abuzz with guests. Two Stellas each to start, followed by a glass of the somewhat spicy but very plummy Rosso Puglia San Mario Puglia and the shockingly sweet and mildly immature Primitivo La Masseria Puglia. For antipasti we went with the antipasto misto; it's essentially a cured meat and mozzarella cheese dish accompanied by bitter greens, olives and tomatos - an effective teaser to stimulate the appetite. If the Spaghetti Gamberi was packed with anymore fresh shrimps, it would indeed out muscle the pasta by volume. The employment of jalapenos to amp up the sauce's spiciness was a cheater move but admittedly effective. The Penne Zafferano featured slices of smoked salmon still cold to the touch; the avoidance of outright cooking the fish is very much appreciated. Its inherent smokiness clearly made it the prominent flavor in the dish amidst the less outstanding spinach and cream sauce. I believe capers would have worked here. The ice cream was simply gourmet. I recommend the toffee and vanilla flavors. read more

The service here is TERRIBLE, my wife and I ordered our food in a near empty restaurant as the restaurant began to fill. A couple and a family of 4 were seated on either side of us about a half hour after we ordered, they all got our food within 15-20 minutes of ordering, we waited well over a hour before I finally had to say something and 15 minutes later our food came out, the food was not worth the wait and we practically had to beg for the check so we could leave while the parties on either side got their checks promptly without having to ask before us , I 100% believe that this all was because we are Americans, I wouldn't subject yourself to this establishment if you value your time read more

I haven't written many reviews but I felt that I needed to after having lunch here before going to see a play. I've recently gone gluten free, and while traveling finding foods that fit what I can eat and are still delicious can be really hard. I miss pasta. I miss pizza. I miss bread. But, I came into Bella Italia thinking I would have to eat something that would later hurt my stomach...then I found their gluten free menu. The pull away garlic bread was crispy and so good! The mushroom pasta was delicious and filling. I couldn't even tell it was gluten free, it was so good. Really recommend this location. read more

Where possible I try to avoid chain restaurants. However on this occasion I was outvoted and found myself chowing down on pepperoni pizza in Soho's Bella Italia. I was really impressed. The decor was very pleasant. The menu was very basic but very well priced. We were two adults and two children and we all ate for £35 which I think is amazing. This we left the restaurant just after 6pm on a Saturday and it was pretty packed so don't be surprised if you have to wait to be seated. Would recomend to others and suspect that I'll be eating in a Bella Italia restaurant again some day. read more

If you decide to go here, it's in a fantastic location but the food was just okay, I'll explain: if you go to the bathroom, which is located in the basement, it smells really bad. Not like sewage, but like a mold problem. I went down to the bathroom to wash my hands and smelled the mold, then saw that the kitchen is located right next to the bathroom. 5 minutes later we got our food and it sort of tasted like the mold I smelled in the bathroom. Yes, I know. Gross. I tried to put that out of my mind and enjoy the food but couldn't do it. My advice: if you go there, don't use the bathroom. Especially before you eat the food. read more

Aah, another chain restaurant. But, a safe bet for a group undecided or split on where to eat. There was nothing wrong with Bella Italia, but there was nothing particularly right with it either. I had the lasagna, which while it tasted alright (despite that all to common hint of mass production) it lacked anything that would make me want to go back and have it again, or indeed try anything else. The pizzas looked fine, if unremarkable, whilst the spaghetti bolognese was actually quite commendable (I stole a bit from the girlfriend's plate whilst she had her head turned!). As I said, don't expect anything out of the ordinary, but for a quick bite to eat with a menu designed to please everyone, you can't really go too far wrong. Bella Italia is the Italian version of Sohos Tuk Tuk, and instead of low priced Thai food you have a choice of different pasta and pizzas. Not as tasty as Pizza Express, Bella Italia is still a good option if you fancy Italian food. A meal for two with drinks should be no more the 25 pound and as long as your not expecting Gordon Ramsey quality food then you probably wont be disappointed. Depending on what day of the week you visit you may have to wait a little longer for your food to arrive so try to avoid Saturday nights as often the food tastes a little warm and reheated. Arriving early for a meal prior to the theatre in Shaftsbury Avenue we found the restaurant lively and the staff very pleasan however, the cooked food left a lot to be desired.
