I have to update my review of Bella Terra. After my post about being unhappy with my family member's situation, a few people have reached out to me to rectify the issue. As soon as the right people were informed of the phone issue, it was resolved. Not only did they move my family member to a new room, they followed up with several phone calls to me. I appreciate the quick response. Thank you Bella Tera for fixing the problem. Thank you for also taking good care of my family member. Don't bring your loved ones here. My mother came there from glen oaks hospital which is horrible too and they didn't treat her with oxygen when needed didn't tell us she had a blood clot and her blood pressure was 170 over 80 when we asked to check it. The nurse responded oh the machine is broke I think. So we asked to transfer her to Alexian bros. They begged us to leave her they said she ok. So when she got to Alexian she was diagnosed with blood clot in lung now and put in ICU. Horrible place they don't bath unless you tell them. She was in the same clothes the next day. Let me just say that all nursing homes and rehabs suck! This one isn't terrible but good luck getting anyone to call you back when you have questions about your loved one. I've left two to three messages for a social worker and she never responded. A wound nurse was supposed to call me back also regarding an infection on someone's body that was more than likely caused because it wasn't taken care of correctly . I heard from another friend whose parent said it sounds like the staff has parties in the evening. If you don't like your job work somewhere else . I had to stay there after a fractured back for rehab. I was there about 2 1/2 weeks.I wouldn't send my worst enemy there much less a beloved family member. This place is beyond horrible it's like an episode of American horror story, the Decor is Green and depressing, the first room I was in had an outdated heating radiator that banged and clinked all night so sleep was impossible, the 2nd room had stains running down the walls. rebab is a joke you get maybe 20-30 mins a day and the rest of the time they leave you on your bed to rot, the buzzers if you need anything from the staff that is another joke or they choose to Ignore them which is most likely the case. There were a few that were nice and tried to be accommodating but the majority were not and they made you feel like shzt for even asking for bathroom/meds or anything for that matter. The food is really bad to and the only thing they give you to drink besides water is way over sweetened lemon aid. You can only take a shower twice per week. If they need to watch someone due to being restricted to their bed they would bring them to the front desk and make them sit in their wheel chairs all day while they did thier duties. I have a friend who is at this facility for physical rehabilitation. According to my friend, their staff were very friendly and they keep their facility clean. From my experience, it was very easy to check in and mask is required during your visitation. Unlike other facilities they also accept COVID patients as well. The food is custom by doctor orders per each of occupant. read more

Bella Terra Bloomingdale is where you take your loved one for quality care. This place is warm and so is the caring atmosphere of the staff that works there. My mom rehabbed and discharged to home after 3 weeks of therapy. She enjoyed the friends she met and promised to return for Bingo. Kudos to those Activity people that kept mom busy between therapy sessions and our family's visits. Did I mention how clean it was? Well never, ever were there odors! Amazing.. My mom was brought from the Glen Oaks hospital on Dec 21st 2022 after she recovered from pneumonia. The main purpose was to have rehabilitation for a week or two so she could walk better. Ambulance dropped her off on the bed and left. When I came to see her with her caregiver an hour later she was laying on her bed asking for help still in her big jacket and hat on and scarf. She was totally heated up and with very high blood pressure from frustration as no one came to help her undress. We helped her undress and had to take her for dinner ourselves as no one came to ask if they should bring it to the room. This day they brought 19 people and stuff was completely overworked and had no time to care for their patients. If they did not have enough people working they should never take so many new arrivals. We learned that among those who arrived were people sick with flu. Next day one person from stuff told us to stay in the room as we could get infected and yet we saw people in the hallways who live there who came out and no one warned them of such negligence. Also, my mom was supposed to have 2 hour physical therapy. Actually her therapy was 5 minutes when three people came in and told her to wiggle her legs on the bed. That was her physical therapy. After spending night in that place my mom started coughing even more. We noticed that her room 103 had a terribly messed up wall by the water liquage. You could tell that this place has mold from old windows. You cannot recover from pneumonia if you come to environment that has mold. I cannot comment on whole building if it has mold but 100 percent this one room was moldy. It made me gag even though I had my mask on. We quickly same day removed my mom from this place and she is so much better now. I don't blame stuff for any of these things but I do blame whoever owns this place for negligence and overbooking when they had not enough stuff to provide proper care. It was a one day nightmare and I cannot believe other people have to live there. You people have to demand better living conditions for your elderly. No one should be allowed to live in mold. For those who don't know- order a test kit and check your parents rooms for mold. Man's no sick with flu should ever be admitted to vulnerable elderly people. All people were sad even though it was a holiday season. SHAME ON YOU!!!! read more

My mother-in-law stayed here recently for rehabilitation (after a stay in the hospital) and it was a constant cluster! We had to call and correctly explain what her meds should be (even though my mother-in-law tried to and was just dismissed by the caregiver, and the hospital also sent that information) and we constantly had to call and checkin/correct the care she was supposed to receive. More than once, we were told they have difficulty with staffing, and that agency nurses are used frequently. As if that somehow makes the issues we had with her care absolved. Agency or not, they should know how to do the job (like bathing and toileting). If they don't do the job, you get rid of them (Which makes me question what safeguards this facility uses to protect patients from inadequate caregivers?). More than once she soiled herself waiting for someone to help her to the bathroom. Bathing also was not regular until we complained about it (a person shouldn't do several days without one). Further, they tried to send her home the first time without and sort of continuity of care plan (because she needs help upon returning home). There are far too many issues to list them all now, but I will update this review after our complaint is filed with the appropriate agencies. The administrator we talked with wasn't much help resolving the issues, as they continued to happen. We had one individual tell us they were checking in with her frequently, and yet, when we talked with our mother-in-law, she said no one was checking in with her. After all the issues, it's enough to write a letter of complaint to their consortium, the Illinois Department of Public Health, and the Illinois Attorney General's Office and ask them to look into procedures, policies, and level of care here. If you have a loved one sent here, be vigilant in checking on their care! read more

My mom was in Bella Terra for about a month for rehab after a fall. The staff was very supportive and friendly and took good care of her. Shawn's exercise classes were great to watch as he kept it interesting for all. In the office Gian was very helpful and always took the time to answer any of my questions. We had to move my grandmother to Bella Terra during the Covid 19 pandemic. We were unable to come into the building until yesterday when we were able to visit her indoors for the first time. I cannot tell you how clean this facility is and how friendly every single staff member is that you come in contact with. I was comfortable with her being there due to the constant communication we receive from this staff however after visiting yesterday I am even more comfortable and I am confident that we made the correct decision to have her live at Bella Terra. I would like to know how this place ever got 5 star review. My brother was there and they were awful. The first 2 days he was there he was dropped 3 times. He is paralyzed on his left side and they dropped him. They tell you to call them 30 minutes ahead, thats so they can get them cleaned up for you. His daughter gave no notice when she went there. My brother had been sitting in a dirty diaper and had food all over him from lunch. It was 4:00 in the afternoon when she went. His cell phone was stolen, he was never given physical therapy, and when he would ring his buzzer to go to the bathroom they would show up 2 hours later. To late. A male nurse threatened to fight him. Fight him. He has a glass eye that was never put back into the eye socket now it does not fit and we are going to have to purchase him a new one. We had my grandpa come to this facility for therapy and let my say it was not an easy choice. My family and I have never been through this process before and it was really scary, especially during COVID times. We met with Michael, their hospital liaison and he walked us through the process from start to finish. It was comforting to know that he worked inside facilities and was a social worker prior to his role as a liaison. When my grandpa admitted the nurses were friendly and treated my grandpa like a human, not a room number. When he walked down the halls everyone had a smile on their face and were always willing to help. Therapy was amazing, they were patient and kind! The food believe it or not was not bad! My grandpa is very picky! Overall we are very pleased with the experience and I recommend this facility to anyone who needs therapy before going home. read more

If I could give this place a 0 star rating I ABSOLUTELY WOULD ! DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE !! My grandpa stayed at this facility before he passed away earlier this year in April. Most of the staff could give less of a crap about your loved ones ! My family would bring my grandpa gifts like cubs shirts and hats since he loves them and a couple weeks later we would visit him and they would BE GONE !! We asked the people in charge of the laundry and they have no clue staff steals from the elderly and takes advantage of them this isn't the only incident my grandpa would be sitting in a wheel cheer for a hour and a half before somebody could help him into the bed so freaking sad nobody takes the time to talk to them everyone looks like they are waiting for the day they pass away everyone looks so depressed staff just walks right past them DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVE ONES HERE I REPEAT PLEASE CHOOSE SOMEWHERE ELSE I don't typically rate places but this place needs to be shut down read more

The LPN(S) and CNA(S) would be the easy target here for incompetence. The real villains are the ADMINISTRATOR and DIRECTOR of Nursing who constantly leave the facility under-staffed. They charge the same amount but do not supply enough people to cover all shifts. This lack of staff is purposely created to increase profits. This constant shortage leads to neglect, pain, and suffering for the most vulnerable community. They bury their mistakes.; it is up to the care givers to shine the light on their poor treatment of our elderly friends and relatives. read more
