I went with the mushroom tacos, hold the sauce which did contain dairy. Our grandson devoured his grilled cheese crust and all. And my husband enjoyed his burger and fries. We appreciated our nice server Will who was friendly and attentive. No doubt folks pick this spot for the toes in the sand beach experience but all in all we had a great time and enjoyed good food.

She started us out with baked oysters and they were good, but it was too much bacon and cheese for me personally. It overwhelmed the oyster flavor, but if you're trying oysters for the first time or wanna please a picky group then these are good. My daughter got the stuffed flounder with corn casserole as we called it, as her side. It was delicious! Probably the best thing ordered! Tacos and kids grilled fish was great too! Definitely a solid amount of fish nuggets in the taco. The fries were some of the best ive ever had. For the seafood feast, we ordered scampi style and it was good, but it reminded me of a clam sauce style, not really buttery and garlicky. It was still good, but what disappointed me was the melted plastic bag served at the table. It was difficult to open, even our server had trouble opening. Idk why everyone loves serving food in plastic bags. It's sooo hot from the steam that plastic leaches into the food. I don't get the infatuation with this, unless you're ordering to go. The fans upstairs are a nice and necessary touch and not too hot up there, despite being summer in July. I would go back and order the stuffed flounder again! Seriously, that was the best thing we ordered. Ashley was johnny on the spot too!

The Dunes suite was a very nice 2nd floor 1 bedroom with large bathroom with shower and tub. Also it had a small kitchen in the entry hallway and small side room that was useful. The unit was very comfortable for two and looked directly out to the ocean for beautiful sunrises. The Oceanview Cottage was right next door and was larger with 2 bedrooms and 1 1/2 bathrooms on the 2nd floor with parking below. The living room and full kitchen were very comfortable as were the bedrooms/baths for the 4 of us for 4 nights. And it was just a few steps further from the beach. Overall the location was very laid back, clean and great location on Vilano Beach with a very short trip over the bridge into downtown St Augustine. And my sincere thanks to the cleaning staff! They were always very friendly and helpful. This will be the first option I check anytime I return to the area.

A perfect combo. There are several cottage options connected with this company but we opted for the Atlantic Suite. Our family members also rented two other cottages including the Royal suite and one other one right below us. The Royal Suite is a bit smaller but has stellar views and a beautiful bathroom with full bathtub and separate shower. Our Atlantic Suite has everything and is perfect for a traveling family. Full kitchen. Dining area. Full roomy living room. Decent sized separate bedroom with King bed. Full bath with shower and separate sink area. We love it! Special amenities: although separate from the downtown main BnB, you get access to their amenities. Happy Hour daily. Wine, beer, and sangria. Appetizers too. And daily free breakfast (or breakfast basket delivered to your cottage). And free downtown parking. As is the case with any accommodation, this place had it's problems/limitations. CONS 1. Doors are not properly sealed so the bugs get inside. 2. The kitchen doesn't have much so you may need things during your stay. 3. Not baby safe. Many outlets including ones on the floor! Also a huge wooden staircase that leads to nowhere. 4. All of the windows are dirty (probably from the beach air and sand) and I dont think they go to the trouble of cleaning them in between guest stays. 5. The pictures of this place were probably done awhile ago because it is super run down in real life compared to pics. Still nice but the pics set your expectations to be higher than reality. 6. If you need anything from the front desk, it might be hours before they can help. This is due to the fact that the cottages are managed by the Inn that's located 10 min away. 7. Rental comes with free full breakfast and Happy Hour but the breakfast is mediocre. Given that it's free, we ate it. Good enough to eat but nothing special (the website makes it seem like their breakfasts are amazing and gourmet).

The combination of imaginative cocktails, exceptional food, and a unique atmosphere makes every visit memorable. The cocktail program is outstanding. We enjoy trying a variety of their exotic and inventive drinks, and they never disappoint. The flavors are bold, creative, and unlike anything you'll find at a typical restaurant bar. The Yellow Submarine cocktail is quite possibly the best drink I have ever consumed. Made with curry-infused Bermuda black rum, lime, ginger, and Asian five-spice brown sugar syrup, it sounded unusual on paper but came together beautifully. I enjoyed it so much that I ordered four of them that evening, something I rarely do. That was three years ago, and despite returning several times since then, I have never seen it on the menu again. The food is equally impressive. Two years ago, I ordered the Skillet Roasted New York Strip served with Yukon Gold potato-anna, roasted asparagus and spring onions, watercress, and black truffle hollandaise. To this day, it remains one of the top five restaurant meals I have ever eaten. Every component on the plate was exceptional. The steak was perfectly prepared, the crispy potato galette was irresistible, and the black truffle hollandaise elevated the entire dish to another level. It was the kind of meal that stays with you long after the plate is cleared. I would gladly drive 300 miles just to eat it again. Most recently, I had the wild mushroom bisque, and it was the best soup I have ever consumed. Rich, creamy, buttery, intensely mushroomy, and perfectly balanced, it was everything a mushroom soup should be. The addition of crispy pickled onions and crème fraîche added texture and contrast that made an already outstanding soup even better. My wife and I enjoyed it so much that we returned the very next day hoping to order it again, only to discover it had already rotated off the menu. My only complaint about The Ice Plant is that some of their greatest creations seem to disappear as quickly as they arrive. While I appreciate the constantly evolving menu and understand that seasonal changes are part of what makes the restaurant special, there are certain items that deserve a permanent home. The Yellow Submarine cocktail, the wild mushroom bisque, and the Skillet Roasted New York Strip with black truffle hollandaise are three of the finest things I have experienced there. The fact that I can vividly remember one of these items from three years ago and another from two years ago says everything. Great restaurants serve good food. Truly special restaurants create dishes and drinks that stay with you for years. The Ice Plant has done that for me more than once, and that is why we continue to return whenever we visit St. Augustine.

Antique, rustic, comfortable, and full of enough character that you almost feel like you've stepped 200 years back in time. Then the drinks arrive, and suddenly you realize you've been transported into the future of cocktails. I wish I could remember the name of the drink I ordered because it was spectacular. Whiskey, a little sweetness, mint, and crushed ice. That's about all I can tell you. What I can tell you is that I could have happily consumed about 30 of them, tumbled down the stairs, and been perfectly happy about the whole experience. My wife went with the Mojito, and it was brilliantly constructed. The crushed ice and layered mint made it look almost too good to drink. Almost. The drinks absolutely deserve five stars. Then came the blue crab beignets, and they were spectacular. That's the kind of appetizer that makes you stop talking for a minute because everyone at the table is too busy enjoying what's happening. Unfortunately, the rest of the food didn't quite live up to the cocktails. The fish dip was very average and lacked much flavor, and the menu itself felt pretty limited. So here's the deal: if you're coming to The Ice Plant for drinks, I would have no problem giving it five stars. The cocktails are that good. This is a highly recommended stop for a drink in St. Augustine. But I have to review the entire experience, and the limited menu and average fish dip bring the overall experience down a notch. Four stars. Come for the drinks. Stay for the atmosphere. Definitely order the blue crab beignets. And if you happen to find yourself three cocktails deep, admiring the antique decor while contemplating the stairs, maybe just take your time.

Their website was confusing so I called the Inn to see what rooms were available for our visit. He explained that there was a third floor suite still open so I asked if I should just book it on the website to avoid having to spell out every required detail to him. The person said yes and so I proceeded to do it. I got a confirmation but like the website it said waiting list. I've never seen a property of any kind use this terminology. Because I just spoke with a rep of The Inn, I assumed everything was OK. After a long drive, we finally arrived and I went to check in. The woman put our name in the computer and she looked up at me confused. "Can it be under another name?" As she continued to stare at the computer I said look you don't have our reservation right? And you are fully booked correct? She said yes. I'm like why are you wasting my time looking at the computer if you have no resolution to this problem. I showed my confirmation on my phone and she said well that just means you got on a waiting list. I was like WTf? Seriously. If you are using such an absolutely convoluted process, why don't you follow up and tell guests that they cannot honor the reservation BEFORE they make the journey to get to your property? As we left in frustration, she said "have a nice day." It was clearly a facetious statement, which just added to our frustration and anger over this event. We were 7 hours away from home. It was 3:30 pm on a Saturday. What in the world do we do now??? I started looking for alternative lodging. It took a long time, and we paid well above our budget, but we found a property in Daytona Beach. Frankly, I couldn't believe the high ratings after seeing The Inn firsthand. It was literally squeezed into a tiny patch of land next to a major 4 lane bridge. It was nothing like what was described in the reviews. You folks are not fit to manage a place like this. We will never ever consider your place for future lodging and will inform as many people as we can to avoid your business.
